Chapter 82: He Felt Drawn to Her!
Iris was a little surprised to discover that they were in an Italian restaurant.
Looking at Xavier casually entering the restaurant without a waiter or floor manager’s assistance, impressed her. She silently followed him as he made his way towards the VIP room at the end of the long corridor.
Once they were seated in the grand and luxurious VIP room, it didn’t take long for a middle-aged man in a black suit to arrive in a hurry and take their order.
"Iris, choose whatever you want to eat," Xavier gently placed a menu in front of her. She immediately made her food selection without even glancing at the dish menu.
"Do you have Lobster tagliatelle in this place?" she asked the waiter without looking at him, her attention focused on the beverages she wanted to drink.
The manager looked surprised and glanced at Xavier. When he saw Xavier nod slightly, he politely replied, "Yes, miss... We have." The truth was they didn’t include the dish on the menu chart because it was too expensive for local people.
"Wow, that’s great! I want that, and as for drinks... Water will do," she said. Then, she handed the menu back to Xavier. "How about you?" she asked him.
Xavier received the menu and handed it to the restaurant manager, saying, "I’ll have what she has." He said calmly.
Iris was surprised to hear Xavier ordered the same dish she had chosen.
’Why does it feel like déjà vu?’ Iris tried to recall when and where she had experienced this before. Seconds later, she remembered when they had dined at a steak restaurant a few weeks ago. Now, she felt worried that he might again offer his food for her to eat.
’No, no... this man wouldn’t do that, right!?’ She tried to divert her thoughts as she looked around the room. After the man in the black suit left the room, she glanced at Xavier once more and asked, "Do you come here often?"
"Yeah, quite often. That’s why the restaurant manager knows me." He said, then staring at her sharply. "I hear from Justin you like Italian food?"
Iris can’t help but wonder how much Justin tells him about her. She thought maybe she needed to warn Justin not to talk too much about her to Xavier because the one whom Justin was familiar with, the young Iris, was not her.
"I don’t entirely like Italian food, but I do enjoy a few of their dishes," she explained.
Xavier simply nodded in response, hearing her confirmation. Then he immersed himself in his cell phone, avoiding her.
"How much has Justin told you about me?" Iris asked, breaking the silence. She wanted to clarify that the information Justin knew was not entirely accurate. She was also curious why this man seemed so interested in learning about her.
Xavier looked surprised by her question. Slowly, he lifted his head to meet her gaze before replying, "Not much. I simply asked a few things I wanted to know."
"You should stop asking Justin. What he knows about me isn’t accurate. If you want to know about me, just ask me directly," she said, wanting Xavier to get to know her, not the young Iris.
Xavier nodded, though, in his heart, he chuckled because he knew exactly who she was; she wasn’t Iris he knew before but someone else. That’s why he was curious to learn more about her, as he felt drawn to this girl for some unknown reason.
...
Before long, their dinner was served. Iris was surprised when she saw that the Lobster Tagliatelle was covered with truffles.
’This is quite expensive if they use truffles on it!?’ Iris frowned, gazing at the delicious dish before her. She regretted not looking at the menu earlier and was curious about the cost of this dish in this place.
After the waitress left the room, she glanced at Xavier as if she wanted to ask him. However, when she saw Xavier eating, she set aside her curiosity and began to eat.
The moment she tasted the lobster, her mind was blown. The lobster was incredibly delicious, even more so than the one she had eaten at her favorite restaurant in Rome in her previous life.
’Wow, who is the chef? Why is this dish so delicious?’ Her mind was now too busy to imagine; it would be awesome if she knew who the chef was.
"You don’t like the food, Iris?" Xavier’s voice suddenly snapped Iris out of her daze.
She immediately shook her head. "No, I don’t like it. I LOVE IT! It’s unbelievably delicious," Her eyes beamed as she continued, "Thank you, Xavier, for bringing me to this place..."
"I thought you didn’t like it because you were just staring at your plate earlier," Xavier chuckled. "If you want more, you can order again," he offered.
"This is enough," Iris immediately refused. It would be embarrassing if she ate more than him.
She could only make a mental note that next time, she would definitely come back to this place and become a regular customer.
Without saying anything, Iris quickly finished her food. She felt so full and happy to finally be able to eat the food she had longed for, which reminded her of her previous life.
...
Later, they immediately left the restaurant and drove through the main street of this small town, which appeared busy due to the area being a seaside tourist location in the southern part of Darkhill. There were many cafes, restaurants, and even bars along the road they passed. Despite the chilly air, she noticed many people still walking on the sidewalk.
"Do you want to explore other places? Like shopping or going to another coffee shop?" Xavier’s offer tempted Iris. She wanted to explore this place, but her reluctance stemmed from the fact that this man was mostly silent and rarely spoke.
"We’d better head back. It’s quite cold here..." Iris said while glancing at him. "I prefer to stay home and talk with you rather than being in a crowd like this—" Her voice suddenly trailed off when she noticed him looking at her.
