Xavier, who had been concealed in the corner of the shop in his invisible form, could only chuckle inwardly as he witnessed the unfolding scene.

He had initially thought about helping Iris deal with Ruby Winters. Still, it quickly became apparent that Iris possessed the ability to manipulate other people’s minds, punishing them without laying a single finger on them.

She needed to hack into Ruby and her friend’s phones, as they had a picture of her at Darkhill when she was there with Gavriel. She couldn’t allow them to upload that picture on-campus forums, potentially causing trouble for her dear mentor.

Iris needed only a few minutes to delete the photo of Gavriel and herself from Ruby and her friend’s phone and another source they had. However, just as she was about to exit Ruby Winters’ device, something caught her eye — a locked folder with the name ’summer.’

Filled with curiosity, Iris opened the folder and was shocked to discover indecent photos and videos inside.

’The heck! This girl is only nineteen and living this kind of lifestyle?’ Iris muttered, feeling sick at the sight of the immoral content. Despite feeling disgusted, she knew she couldn’t ignore it.

She transferred all the photos and videos in that folder to her secure server. She intended to use this material if Ruby could think straight again one day.

For now, Iris could enjoy peace, knowing that Ruby’s mind remained under her control. Ruby would believe she had wronged Iris and would avoid causing any further trouble. Iris had tested her mind-manipulating ability on Ruby, and the results satisfied her. However, she also worried about how long she could maintain this manipulation.

Now that she had plenty of evidence of Ruby’s dark life, she had a final ace up her sleeve to silence Ruby if that girl ever dared to cross her again.

Lost in her hacking task, Iris failed to notice that their car was rapidly speeding down the highway, heading towards a nearby town.

When Iris finally finished, she slowly lifted her head and looked at the street ahead. Instantly, she felt surprised that they were heading towards Darkhill.

It felt like déjà vu, returning to Darkhill once again. Previously, she had been with Gavriel, and now she was with Xavier. However, this time, they were traveling in a normal way, unlike when Gavriel teleported their car to that city.

’Gosh! This will be a tiring and long, awkward moment with Xavier,’ Iris thought, letting out a deep sigh as she imagined the six-hour round trip between Darkhill and Silenthill.

Iris noticed Xavier, who was driving beside her, looked calm and handsome. She could only be amused by his handsomeness in silence for a moment before finally asking him, "Xavier, are we going to Darkhill?"

"Yes," Xavier answered briefly without looking at her.

"Why are we going there? It’s a long trip. It would be more fun if we took the fast train to go there, right?" Iris asked curiously. Furthermore, this man hadn’t even mentioned why they were suddenly visiting that city. It puzzled her.

After a few seconds passed, Xavier finally glanced at her briefly before responding, "It seems you’re not happy going out with me?"

Iris was speechless at his response. ’Gosh! Why did he respond with a question instead of answering me!?’

Not wanting to make the rest of their trip awkward, Iris smiled at him before replying, "I do enjoy going out with you, Xavier. But, you will be exhausted to drive this far—"

A faint smile appeared on the corner of Xavier’s lips upon hearing her answer, especially knowing she was worried about his condition.

"Iris," Xavier said in his gentle tone, stealing a quick glance at her. "Don’t worry about it. Your boyfriend isn’t a weakling. Just a six-hour drive, no big deal."

Instantly, Iris’ face turned red upon hearing his alluring words pierce her heart. For a moment, she simply stared at him without speaking, whispering to herself inwardly,

’How can he sound so casual saying "your boyfriend"?! What is this? Why is he so immersed in his role as a boyfriend, even though it’s just us here... he doesn’t need to pretend!’

Iris opened her mouth several times, wanting to remind him of their fake relationship, but her words remained unspoken. Fearing that Xavier might read her thoughts and see her blushing cheeks, she quickly turned her gaze outside the window, ignoring him for a moment to calm the tremors in her heart.

The silence in the car lasted for several minutes until Xavier broke the awkwardness between them. He glanced at her and then said, "Iris, we’ll be staying one night in Darkhill—"

"WHAT!?" Iris couldn’t help but interrupt him, too shocked hearing his words. "Why all of a sudden? I mean... I didn’t even bring any clothes for this last-minute trip." Panic could be heard from her tone.

Before Xavier could respond, she continued, "And what about Grandma? She’ll be worried if I don’t come home tonight!"

Xavier shook his head, smiling faintly as he observed how flustered Iris had become. "Relax! I wouldn’t take you on a sudden trip without getting permission from Grandma Gray," Xavier replied calmly. However, his words seemed to confuse Iris even more.
