Chapter 71: Warning

At 9 p.m., Gavriel’s car stopped in front of Iris’ house. The house was dark, with only parts of it still visible light.

Iris sensed her grandma was already asleep in her bedroom. She felt relieved because she didn’t have to worry about explaining Gavriel’s presence to Grandma.

"Thank you, Gavriel, for today," Iris said, preparing to leave the car. But Gavriel stopped her. She turned to see him and asked, "What is it?" before closing the car door again.

"I just want to remind you of two things. One, if you receive your second assignment, you must notify me!" he said seriously.

She nods.

Gavriel continued, "Second, as you know, in the vast lands that we call Earth, you will discover many things that will surprise you later on," he paused to cast a faint smile when he saw her frown. "I can’t tell you exactly, but I believe you will find out later. For now, just keep in mind that the fantasy stories you read in books or see in movies are not entirely fantasy in this world."

Iris grew increasingly confused and felt alert by his words. She sensed this man was trying to warn her of dangers but couldn’t do so directly, as if some force was stopping him.

"Oh, Gavriel... can’t you just tell me directly? You’re giving me a headache!" Iris exclaimed.

"Relax," a faint smile appeared on Gavriel’s face as he continued in a relaxed and calm tone. "Just look at yourself and me. If we exist, then others might too..." He still couldn’t reveal everything directly, or someone might take drastic action against him — like send him to hell.

Iris gasped in surprise as she realized what his words implied. "You mean, other creatures like in movies?"

Gavriel nodded, confirming her question.

Iris shivered. She had already thought about it, but somehow, it all felt absurd, even though her rebirth was still surreal to her.

"Wait, so, what are you trying to say? Wizards like Harry Potter, vampires, devils, and ghost stories... all of them were real?" She asked, her tone filled with doubt.

Gavriel nodded, "Yes, all of them, and you might encounter them in your assignments later on..."

Iris gasped in shock.

"Gavriel, how can I face them when I’m still weak?" She felt a shiver run down her spine, thinking that if her target was a wizard or vampire, they might kill her in the blink of an eye.

’Gosh! Why is my rebirth so challenging?’ She felt like protesting to God because she had hoped her rebirth would lead to a calm and sweet life. Still, instead, she was facing a journey even scarier than her previous life.

"Hahaha, relax. I doubt your boss will assign you to kill anything stronger than you anytime soon. Besides, did you forget that you will also become stronger later on if you collect many abilities from your rewards?" Gavriel tried to reassure her and ease her burden of fear.

"Glad to hear that! I still need to improve myself before facing the strongest target," Iris said, smiling back at him.

"True, you better catch up with working out," he agreed with her. This young Iris’ body was weak; he could feel it.

"I will," She smiled.

"Iris, if you don’t have any questions for me now, you’d better get out of my car immediately. I need to go now; I have many things to do and many other places to go..." Gavriel said as he heard a threat in his mind from Xavier. He was hiding in the forest not far from them.

This Vampire Lord was very protective of Iris. Gavriel was increasingly convinced that Xavier Darkwood was falling in love with Iris.

Iris immediately got out of the car and rushed into her house. She no longer stopped to greet her grandmother, as she could feel how soundly her grandma was sleeping now.

She rushed to her bedroom and texted Xavier, informing him she had arrived home.

When Iris finished cleaning herself, she heard her phone vibrate. It was Xavier responding to her text. She exchanged short messages with him before finally settling on her study table and opening her laptop.

She needed to email Daisy to purchase some of the things she required. More precisely, she wanted to use Daisy’s address to order goods from other countries because she couldn’t use her home address, which was very dangerous, as she lived with her grandmother.

After sending an email to Daisy, she continued to browse the web for news in her home country from her previous life. She needed to see if there was any news about her death.

However, after searching for a few minutes, she found no information about her death.

"This is weird," she mumbled. "Could it be that my body wasn’t found, and that’s why there’s no news about me?"

For a few moments, Iris could only stare at her laptop screen while trying to remember the person who killed her. However, she felt a sharp pain in her head each time she forced herself to remember.

She squeezed her hair tightly, attempting to divert the troubling pain while placing her head on the table and closing her eyes for a while.

"Dear God, please tell me who betrayed and killed me..." Iris’s voice sounded miserable as she felt lost and sad. She genuinely hoped that God could hear her pleas and grant her request; she just wanted to know who had killed her.

"It seems I should go back there and check if the person who killed me is now enjoying my wealth." This was the only thing she could do. She planned to go there during the holidays.

However, she had a problem.

How could she get permission from her grandmother to fly to another continent?

While Iris was thinking about arranging a trip to another continent to visit her home country, her cell phone vibrated again, and Xavier’s name appeared.

"Xavier! Yes, I can use his name..." A smile appeared at the corners of her lips. "Grandma will surely agree if I say I want to go on holiday with Xavier, right?"
