Chapter 69: Visiting Darkhill

Chapter 69: Visiting Darkhill

Gavriel wasn’t fully engaged in what she was saying because, at that moment, he was busy identifying which friend had sold the magic bullet to Iris.

If his suspicions were correct, it was Xavier Darkwood who had sold it.

’What the hell, Xavier Darkwood!! Why would you sell such a precious bullet to her?’ Gavriel was puzzled. Could Xavier have genuinely fallen in love with Iris to the extent that he’d give her a bullet capable of killing even an immortal like him!?

Countless questions swirled in Gavriel’s mind, leaving him increasingly perplexed. Being Iris Gray’s mentor was already draining, and now, with Xavier Darkmoon’s involvement, it had become even more challenging. It tempted him to abandon this task altogether.

...

"Gavriel, are you even listening to me?" Iris’s question jolted him out of his thoughts, and he turned to her swiftly.

"What did you say?" He frowned, focusing his attention on her.

"Oh... My goodness, Gavriel! You’re just draining my energy," Iris sighed, feeling exhausted from their conversation. She then shifted her gaze to the window, her eyes widening in surprise. They were now entering the highway.

Iris shot a questioning glance at him. "Why did you bring me out of town?" She asked after noticing a signboard indicating they were heading to Darkhill, a large city at the border of Silenthill. "I can’t go too far; I have an exam tomorrow. My grandma and Xavier would be worried if we’re out here till midnight..."

Gavriel turned to meet her worried gaze, his calm face adorned with a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry, little lady. I’ll have you back to your house before you know it." he casually assured her.

Iris was rendered speechless. How could they possibly return to her house before midnight when they still had another three hours of travel ahead of them? She concealed her annoyance behind clenched teeth.

"Gavriel, we should turn back now. We can talk at a cafe in Silent Hill. There’s no need to go—" Iris’s voice trailed off as she looked outside. "W-Why are we already in Darkhill City?" She asked in disbelief.

They were supposed to reach this destination in another three hours, yet their car was now in the midst of a bustling city. Iris could see fancy restaurants and shops passing by. Bewildered, she turned to Gavriel for an explanation.

He didn’t offer an immediate response, only saying, "Little lady, that’s why I told you not to worry too much. You’ll be back home before you know it. Now, what would you like to eat? Let’s find a nice place to chat."

Gavriel had intentionally taken her away from Silent Hill, concerned that the Vampire Lord might overhear their conversation. Seeing Xavier’s protective nature towards Iris, led him to suspect that Xavier had special feelings for her. As her mentor, this complicated things for Gavriel, and he felt frustrated that his promotion might be jeopardized.

’Looks like my promotion will be on hold again,’ annoyance appears on Gavriel’s face but he hides it, worried Iris will notice.

While Gavriel was lost in his thoughts, Iris remained perplexed by the situation. She knew that Gavriel had many abilities, but this ability; being able to teleport with an object the size of a car was beyond her understanding.

Confirming they were indeed in Darkhill, Iris turned to Gavriel with a questioning look. "Gavriel, you really can teleport with your car?" she asked curiously.

"Yes, I can. As you can see now, we are in Darkhill town," he replied, gradually slowing the car while casting a brief glance at Iris.

Iris couldn’t contain her astonishment upon hearing his confirmation. Her eyes widened, and she blinked repeatedly, momentarily lost in the idea of having such an incredible ability herself. It would mean being able to casually visit other cities without the hassle of seeking permission from her grandma.

"Iris, I know, I’m awesome, but... can you stop staring at me like that? If your handsome boyfriend found out you were gazing at a man like that, he might get jealous." Gavriel’s nonchalant comment brought her back to reality, leaving her imagination shattered.

"Come on, Iris, tell me where we’ll eat," He adds.

She swallowed hard, silently cursing him in her mind, before responding, "A-Anything, you decide. I’m not a picky eater."

Gavriel acknowledged her response with a nod and continued driving towards their destination. It wasn’t long before their car came to a halt, and Iris was taken aback by the place he had chosen.

’Why on earth does he fancy a place like this?’ Iris thought, stifling her laughter as she found herself both bemused and amused by Gavriel’s choice. He typically exuded an air of regal demeanor. Yet, here he was, opting to dine at a café renowned for its adorable and delicious cakes, a favorite hangout spot for kids and teenagers.

Resisting the urge to voice her thoughts, Iris simply trailed behind him as they entered the cafe.

However, as soon as they stepped inside the cafe, a strong desire to disappear from that place washed over her. The famous cafe was crowded with teenagers giggling while enjoying cakes with friends.

When the teenagers noticed their presence, almost every pair of eyes in the cafe turned to them. Well, maybe they were only interested in Gavriel, not her.

Iris chuckled inwardly when she heard their emotions.

’Why is he using his charm and good looks to captivate these teenagers?’ She silently scolded Gavriel in her mind as she briskly made her way to a secluded corner table, determined to hide from prying eyes.

"My dear Senior Gavriel, I had no idea you enjoyed this sort of place," Iris said, struggling to contain her laughter.

Gavriel smirked as he took a seat across from Iris.

"But how are we supposed to have a private conversation in a location like this? There are so many prying eyes, and they might overhear us," she sighed deeply, then signaled to the waitress to place her order.

"You don’t enjoy places like this?" Gavriel arched an eyebrow, looking puzzled.

"Oh, please..." Iris shook her head, left momentarily speechless. "...I’m a different person now. I’m far too old of a soul to dine at this... cute place."
