Chapter 67: Bizarre Situation

Iris saw a familiar figure leaning against a white Maserati Levante, looking stunning with his tall stature. His presence in the parking lot was bound to attract attention from the passing students.

’What the hell?’ Iris gasped in shock. ’Why does Gavriel appear here? And he showed himself in front of other people?’ She couldn’t believe what she was witnessing.

Her steps abruptly stopped as she saw Gavriel in a public place, and from Xavier’s gaze, she assumed Xavier could see him, too.

Xavier also stopped when he noticed Iris pausing. He glanced at her and asked, "Do you know him?" pretending not to be aware of Gavriel’s identity.

Iris was surprised to hear Xavier’s voice and turned her gaze toward him, feeling a mix of worry and confusion. She didn’t know how to answer him for a few seconds, seeing the curiosity in his eyes.

"Y-yes, I know him," Iris finally said with a slight nod.

"I see. You seem shocked to see him. Who is he?" Xavier asked again, this time shifting his gaze toward Gavriel while giving him a warning look and asking Gavriel to pretend not to know him. After Gavriel understood his signal, Xavier turned his attention back to her.

Iris was utterly speechless, her tongue feeling stiff as she struggled to find the right words to answer him.

"My family," she replied hesitantly. She couldn’t disclose Gavriel’s true identity. How could she explain that Gavriel was a God Helper or someone from the realm of God? No one would believe her, including Xavier, if she told the truth. He might think she was crazy.

Xavier remained calm and asked, "You don’t want to introduce me to your family?"

"Ugh, no... I mean... let’s go," Iris said, resuming her walk toward Gavriel, who appeared calm on the surface but had a confused look in his eyes.

’Gavriel, listen!!’ She spoke to him through her mind, knowing he could hear her. ’Pretend to be my distant family from my mother’s side. Don’t say anything else, alright!?’

Still shocked by Xavier’s presence on Iris’ campus, Gavriel frowned in response. ’Family? Why should I?’ he asked, bewildered.

’Please, just do it. Don’t ask questions. I don’t have time to explain!’ she snapped mentally while maintaining an awkward smile for Gavriel.

Although he didn’t understand why Iris was making such a request, he reluctantly agreed with her.

"Oh, Brother Gavriel, you’re here..." Iris greeted him warmly and stopped a few steps from him, with Xavier standing beside her. "Why did you come all of a sudden without notice?"

Gavriel was left speechless. ’What the hell, Iris Gray!! You asked me to meet, and now you’re pretending you don’t know why I came? Why are you acting so—’

’Speak nicely to this Lady, Gavriel, or you might turn into a glacier!!’ Xavier’s icy voice rang in Gavriel’s mind, freezing him in place as he glanced at Xavier.

Not wanting to anger Xavier further, Gavriel quickly turned his attention back to Iris, wearing a warm smile. "Yes, yes... Something has happened in our beloved family, and I wanted you to come with me to visit them," he said while cursing inwardly, puzzled by why Iris knew this old grumpy vampire.

"Family matter?" Iris asked, pretending to be surprised, though inside, she nearly laughed at Gavriel for agreeing to act with her, and he looked so awkward. Gosh!

Gavriel nodded, then turned his gaze to Xavier. "Iris, who is this handsome man beside you?" he asked, trying to understand their relationship.

Iris smiled as she looked at Xavier. "He is my boyfriend, Xavier Darkwood. Xavier... this is Gavriel, my cousin," she introduced.

In an instant, Gavriel nearly stumbled in shock.

Boyfriend?! Iris was in a relationship with a vampire lord!? Did she really know Xavier’s true identity?

Gavriel felt his heart nearly stop working permanently upon hearing that Xavier was Iris’ boyfriend. There were so many things he wanted to ask Iris. However, seeing Xavier, who seemed to torment his mental state, he could only swallow back all his questions.

"Hello, Gavriel. It’s nice to meet you," Xavier casually said, offering his hand for a handshake.

"H-Hello, Xavier," Gavriel stammered while accepting his cold handshake.

Gavriel wished he could escape from this awkward and bizarre situation. He had to pretend he didn’t know Xavier and act like he was part of Iris’ family. Somehow, he felt like he had aged another millennium.

Iris was relieved she could finally ease the tense atmosphere by introducing Xavier to Gavriel. Now, she attempted to leave the place with Gavriel, hoping not to further irritate Xavier.

After a few days of knowing Xavier, she struggled to understand his unpredictable personality, as he seemed to have terrible mood swings.

"Xavier, it looks like I have to go with my cousin," Iris said carefully, trying to convey reluctance in her expression.

Deep down, she worried that Xavier might insist on joining them. If that happened, she couldn’t discuss her role as a God’s Helpers Assassin with Gavriel. She had a lot of questions she wanted to ask about her first mission.

"Hmm, go..." Xavier replied, his smile affectionate as he gently stroked Iris’ back. He continued, "Don’t stay out too late, and be sure to call me when you get home, okay?"

Still taken aback by Xavier’s sincere and sweet smile, Iris nodded in response to his request. "Yes, I will," she replied, returning his smile.

"Alright, you can go now. Don’t keep your cousin waiting," Xavier said, gazing at Gavriel. He silently conveyed a series of instructions to Gavriel, as well as a veiled threat not to disclose his true identity to Iris.

As Iris and Gavriel departed from the parking lot, Niles and Justin emerged from inside the building. Before they could join Xavier in the parking area, they were taken aback to see Iris getting into a car with another man.

What stunned them was the distinct aura this man exuded, setting him apart from the ordinary humans typically found in this remote town.

"Milord, that individual..." Niles inquired while standing beside Xavier, who continued to gaze toward the white car as it gradually disappeared from view. "Who is he!?"
