Iris could feel the hatred radiating from Ruby, which forced her to pay more attention to this foolish little girl.

’Ruby Winters, it looks like you need to be taught a lesson, huh!’ Iris silently thought to herself while sending a chilling smile in Ruby’s direction, causing Ruby to quickly avert her gaze and take her seat.

Justin leaned closer to Niles and whispered, "Niles, are you sure she answered that question correctly?"

Niles shrugged subtly in response before refocusing on his exam, deliberately ignoring Justin’s persistent curiosity.

’Perhaps she finished hastily, hoping to leave with Xavier,’ Justin chuckled inwardly, still finding it hard to believe that Iris could achieve top scores with such speed.

As they exited the building, Xavier glanced at Iris, who was walking beside him. "We have plenty of time before the second exam. Where do you want to go? Would you like to take a walk to the cafeteria?"

Iris checked her watch. There were still two and a half hours until the next exam. It was undeniably a long time to simply wait around doing nothing. Still, she wasn’t keen on hanging out in the cafeteria either.

"Could we head to the library?" Iris suggested.

"Of course!" Xavier agreed, leading the way to the library. It was just a short walk away.

"Xavier, may I ask you something?" Suddenly, Iris spoke. He nodded, signaling for her to continue. "Why didn’t you respond to Ruby’s feelings? She clearly likes you, right?" she asked.

Xavier was taken aback by her question. However, he didn’t respond immediately, finding amusement in her curious gaze.

"What kind of question is that?" He finally spoke.

"I mean, she is genuinely in love with you. She is also rich and beautiful. Why did you refuse her and instead agree to play-act with me as a couple?" Iris asked again. She didn’t particularly like discussing it, but she had to inquire because she had plans to teach Ruby a lesson for her malicious intentions toward her.

Xavier didn’t answer her question directly; instead, he countered, "Do you want to know why I decided to do this act with you?"

She frowned, wondering why he was answering her question with another question.

"Because you didn’t have a choice, My grandma caught us together that night, right?" She replied with another question.

"You could say that, but that’s not the real reason..." Xavier paused as they entered the library. After checking in with the library staff, he led her to a corner where they could be alone.

She followed him in silence, waiting for him to continue. She was curious to know his reasons.

"Because I don’t want to deal with Ruby Winters," Xavier finally said after they had settled into their chairs. "That’s my answer to your earlier question, Iris Gray."

Iris was rendered speechless by the number of sentences he had spoken just to answer her question.

She wanted to ask him more about it, but she decided to hold off when she saw him close his eyes and lean back in his chair. It seemed like he was returning to his icy personality.

Countless questions now filled her mind. She summoned her invisible phone and texted Gavriel, asking about it.

Iris began to think that GH had something to do with this—a clear piece of evidence in her favor. They must have made Alberto die naturally, not because she had killed him.

She typed quickly,

[Iris:] Senior Gavriel, I have something to ask you about my first mission. Can we meet?

After she sent the text, there was no reply from Gavriel. It made her impatient. She decided to call him but restrained herself when she saw Xavier sitting opposite her.
