Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife
Chapter 51: Future Wife

Chapter 51: Future Wife

When Selina saw an evil flame dancing in Justin’s eyes, all her strength left her body, causing her to fall to her knees.

"T-This was a mistake. Forgive me, Justin. I promise I won’t do it again," she said between her sobs, her head hung low as tears trickled down her cheeks.

Justin was rendered speechless, ’Why did she cry? Damn it, this young vampire really gives me a headache!!’ After venting his anger in his mind, he said, "You may sit, Selina."

He sat on the black sofa near the fireplace, gazing at Selina. After he saw her sitting opposite him, he smiled gently at her.

"Selina, I forgive you. You don’t have to cry again. But you’ve made a big mistake this time, you made our lord annoyed. He might choose to punish you later..."

Selina blinked nervously at Justin’s words as her anxiety arose. She couldn’t muster a response to his words. Now, she could only pray Lord Xavier would bestow his mercy upon her.

They remained lost in their thoughts for a few moments, their gazes fixated on the flames dancing in the fireplace.

Then, Selina turned her attention toward Justin. "If I may ask... who exactly is that woman?" She continued when she saw him gazing back at her, "And why am I not even allowed within a mile radius of the villa?" Her curiosity was puzzling her; this marked the first time she had been forbidden from entering Darkwood Villa for such an extended period, almost a day.

Justin met Selina’s curious gaze. "She’s Lord Xavier’s future wife," he revealed.

"F-future wife?" Selina repeated, genuinely surprised that Lord Xavier had finally found his soulmate. When she saw Justin nod, she pressed further, "But why am I prevented from going there?"

There was a prolonged silence as Justin didn’t rush to respond, his eyes locked onto Selina’s pale brown eyes for a moment before he finally spoke, "Because she’s not a Vampire like us; she’s human..."

"WHAT! Lord Xavier is dating a human girl?" Selina’s complexion instantly drained of color, her eyes widening in shock as she stared at Justin.

"Yeah, that’s precisely why you can’t go there. Your control over human blood is still quite limited. So, don’t even think of trying to go there!" Justin emphasized the final sentence, keeping certain details hidden from Selina, particularly the distinctive scent of Iris’ blood. Revealing that might only fuel her curiosity further.

"I understand, Justin. Don’t worry; I’ll keep myself busy with the beasts," Selina assured him.

At The Darkwood Villa.

Iris followed Xavier toward the rear of the house. They stepped into a lengthy corridor illuminated by yellow lights on the ceiling. The chill in the air prompted her to tighten her coat around her as she glanced at several tightly shut brown doors lining the corridor.

After a few moments, they arrived at the corridor’s end, where a door—seemingly invisible due to its identical color to the wall—suddenly appeared as Xavier waved his hand. It was as if an invisible sensor had detected his movement.

She observed Xavier press his hand against the wall, causing the door to crack open slightly, revealing a descending staircase. As they descended, the ceiling’s yellow lights automatically flickered to life, illuminating their path.

They descended the seemingly endless staircase, and a growing sense of anxiety started to grip Iris.

Why did Xavier have such a deep dungeon in his house?

She counted each step; the count exceeded a thousand, yet they hadn’t reached the bottom. Along the way, they passed through two empty corridors very similar to the one above.

"Why haven’t you installed an elevator here?" Iris’ curiosity grew as exhaustion crept in. Her breathing had become strained, and her knees ached a little. ’I really need to work out,’ she silently reminds herself while keeping her eyes on Xavier’s back up ahead.

"Because we don’t need an elevator; we can teleport or move swiftly," Xavier wanted to say, but of course, he couldn’t.

"Well, perhaps my grandparents didn’t have much money when constructing this place," Xavier replied nonchalantly, offering an explanation.

Iris had little choice but to accept his words. Before long, their seemingly endless journey reached its end. They stood before a black metal door, tightly sealed. Xavier’s hand activated identity access, causing the door to slowly swing open.

As the door swung open, automatic lights flickered to life, casting illumination into the moderately sized room. However, what captured Iris’ attention weren’t the room’s dimensions but rather the four additional doors lining its interior, each marked with a distinct number.

’Another set of doors... What kind of place is this?’ Her gaze sought Xavier’s for an explanation, yet he was already making his way toward door number one.

Xavier pushed open the door, revealing a sight that left Iris in awe. A central shelf stood in the room, adorned with an organized array of weapons and clips. A diverse collection of modern firearms was meticulously displayed along the walls of the fifty-square-meter room, each type and their functions neatly categorized.

She felt like she had stepped into an armory or a high-end weapons store. The collection here dwarfed even that of her previous life’s assassin guild, leaving her astounded. Yet amidst her amazement, a wave of frustration gnawed at her. She struggled to recall the name of her guild from her previous life.

’Damn it! Why hasn’t my memory returned?’ Iris muttered irritably under her breath. Her missing memory made her both curious and worried because she felt that the missing part was probably the most essential part of her past.

"Iris, are you alright?" Xavier’s cold voice echoed near her ears.

Startled, Iris jumped in surprise. She turned toward the voice, her eyes widening in shock as she found Xavier’s face unnervingly close to hers — so close that she could smell his familiar scent.

Quickly taking a few steps backward to put some distance between them, she felt a rush of warmth coloring her cheeks.

"I... I’m fine... No, no, not just f-fine. I’m feeling great. W-why do you ask?" she stammered, confused as she observed Xavier’s expression transform into a frown.
