Chapter 30: Unique Blood

Iris felt a mix of confusion and excitement at the same time. She looked at him, "Wait! Why did you bring me here?" she asked, puzzled.

Xavier raised his brow slightly, looking at her for a moment before saying, "Did you ask me to bring you home?" He didn’t wait for her to answer as he exited the car. "Follow me, we must stop your bleeding, or you will die from blood loss!"

Iris was utterly speechless hearing his words. Vividly in her mind, she had asked him to bring her home, but why did he bring her to his home!?

Knock! Knock!

Iris flinched at the sound of glass being tapped from outside. When she saw his stern gaze, she immediately opened the car door.

"I thought you were waiting for me to open the car door for you!" He said casually, but it sounded like a scold in Iris’ ear.

Not wanting to make Xavier angrier, Iris immediately got out and followed him to the entrance. She was so focused on Xavier that she didn’t notice Justin and Niles standing at the door, looking surprised to see her present in the middle of the night in their house.

"Iris, welcome to our humble home..." Justin smiled broadly at her as he quickly walked to greet her with a warm embrace. However, his feet had not gone far when he suddenly lost his balance and fell.

Thud!

His massive body slumped against the concrete ground in a comical position. His face almost kissed the concrete if he didn’t support his body with both hands.

"WHY DID YOU PUSH ME, NILES!" Justin retorted, annoyed, while looking at Niles behind him, still standing by the door.

Niles was speechless, as he hadn’t done anything, but this stupid Justin was blaming him. He was too lazy to answer, so he just turned his gaze towards Iris, who was smiling while walking towards them.

The closer Iris and Xavier got, Niles’s brows suddenly furrowed as he caught the familiar yet forbidden scent of fresh human blood entering his senses.

’She’s injured!?’ Niles’ eyes landed on Iris’ hands, which were tightly wrapped in black cloth. He tried to calm himself down, standing calmly in place while smiling at Iris.

Iris couldn’t help but laugh as she watched Justin trip over his own feet. Trying to contain her amusement, she moved to help him up. However, before she could reach him, Justin quickly jumped to his feet, avoiding her. His face turned pale, and his golden yellow eyes, fixated on her, gradually changed to a deep crimson color.

’Damn it! This smell!’ Justin quietly talked to himself as he restrained himself from doing something he would regret later.

Iris was confused to see Justin, who looked shocked, staring at her. Just before she wanted to ask him, she heard Niles speak.

"Iris, what happened? Why are you injured?"

She turned her gaze at Niles, but once again, before she said something, she heard Xavier’s commanding voice echo in the air.

"Follow me, Iris!" Xavier said as he walked past Niles and Justin into the house.

Iris could only nod while giving Niles and Justin an awkward smile. Then she walked quickly to catch up with Xavier, who had already entered the house.

Seeing Xavier and Iris disappear behind the main door, Justin turned to look at Niles with a curious expression.

"Niles, did you smell her blood?" he asked in a low voice.

Niles’ eyes remained fixed on the spot where Iris had been standing. After a few moments, he nodded in response to Justin’s question.

"But why is her blood different from other humans?" Justin inquired. It was the first time he had encountered such a unique fragrant scent in a thousand years.

"Stop dwelling on it. Go drink your wine, or you’ll lose control!" Niles warned, his gaze sharp as he looked into Justin’s eyes. He felt concerned as he saw Justin’s eyes turning crimson, a sign of his thirst for blood.

Justin gulped and nodded, heeding Niles’ advice. But before disappearing from his spot, he gave Niles a puzzled look. "Why did you push me earlier?" he asked briefly.

"Push you?" Niles sneered. "Can’t you feel it?"

"Feel what?"

"Justin! If you’re tired of living in this world, go and touch our Lord’s woman, and he’ll send you straight into fiery hell!"

Niles shook his head and entered the house, leaving Justin perplexed by his words. He didn’t have time to talk to Justin because his thirst for blood was overwhelming. Iris’ unique blood had stirred up his cravings.

"What the hell are you talking about, Niles..." Justin mumbled, but his voice trailed off as he realized his mistake. His eyes widened in shock, looking toward the door, "Oh, man... How could I forget? Lord Xavier will kill me if I hug Iris!" he muttered and then vanished from his spot.

Iris’s heart trembled as she followed Xavier into a luxurious living room with a modern interior. However, Xavier didn’t stop there; he walked toward the stairs.

Silently, she trailed behind him, trying to survey her surroundings. As they climbed the stairs, she was impressed by the walls decorated with several expensive-looking paintings. Although she didn’t understand art, she could sense the value of the abstract paintings on the wall.

After a short while, they reached the third floor, and Xavier finally stopped before a black door in the corner.

Upon entering the room, Iris was surprised to find a bright space with white walls and ample lighting. A hospital bed equipped with advanced medical equipment caught her eye in the middle of the room, resembling an operating room she had seen in a hospital. Cupboards filled with medical supplies and various unfamiliar liquids were neatly arranged in the corner, along with medical tools she recognized from the emergency room.

Iris couldn’t help but wonder why Xavier had a room that looked like a medical facility in his house. She stole a glance at him as he stood by the infirmary bed, and couldn’t help but think that his parents were probably doctors.

She had never been aware of Xavier’s background; he was quite secretive about his personal life. All she knew was that he had moved to town about a year ago and became her classmate. His private life remained a mystery to her.
