Chapter 268: She Remembers Everything
Chapter 268: She Remembers Everything
"Do you... now recall me?" Xyronos put his arm around her. He thought he could face it calmly, but he didn’t know the excitement in his heart exceeded his expectations. He was pleased because Iris finally remembered him.
"Indeed, I remember you, everything—" Iris’ voice shaking with happiness.
"Thank you, Iris. You’ve finally regained your memories."
Xyronos tightened his embrace while burying his head in her soft neck. He exhaled deeply the fragrance he had missed since they parted as she died in someone else’s arms. At that time, he couldn’t even see her corpse because her father and Xavier massacred his people and came to claim his life, too.
This unstoppable longing made Xyronos unable to say anything despite him already practicing what he wanted to tell her when she regained her memories. His mind was utterly blank.
Xyronos also worried that Iris would leave him and prefer his older brother. He thought this was the biggest worry after seeing how confident his older brother was that Iris would stay with him when they made a deal.
However, when he saw her emotions and her initiative, throwing her body into his embrace was enough to erase all his worry.
With that said, his worry was pointless; Iris still loved him. He feels like he is on cloud nine.
...
Not only does Xyronos feel a thrill, but Iris also feels the same feeling as him. She was so happy they could finally meet again after being apart for so long. Not only did she have to wait so long, but she had to reincarnate several times to get her memories back.
They embraced in silence, each yearning for the other’s presence.
However, before long...
Iris was the first to release from the embrace, yet their hands remained intertwined. The gentle warmth of his touch caused a gradual surge of warmth in her bloodstream and sparked a calming heat in her heart. When his golden eyes stared intently into hers, she felt her cheeks flush warmly.
"Xy, there’s so much I want to hear from you," said Iris.
"Sure, dear. However, you mustn’t overlook your breakfast before our discussion. I’ve heard you scarcely touched your dinner last night. Your well-being concerns me—" Xyronos’s sentence halted as Iris delicately placed her index finger upon his lips.
A faint smile graced the edges of Xyronos’s lips at her sweet gesture. He sensed her unchanged nature, the same Iris he had always known. He gently smiled and awaited her response.
"Hmm, you’re right, Xy. But I also need to change my nightgown."
"I shall await you here. But... do not make me wait too long, my dear." Xyronos smiled while placing his palm on her tiny cheek.
When he saw her return his smile, he couldn’t resist kissing her. He leaned closer to steal a light peek at her cherry-red lips.
Iris was stunned by his sudden kiss. She spontaneously stepped back.
’Badam... Badam...’
She could hear how fast and loud her heartbeat was now.
Iris didn’t give him time to react; she entered her bedroom and closed the door behind her. While rubbing her chest, try to calm her heart — still shocked by their sudden intimacy.
"X-Xy... I’ll change my clothes," Iris shouted behind the door.
"No need to rush, my dear. Take your time." Xyronos was amused at how red her face was. She must be shy with their first kiss after so many years. He could understand how stiff she was when their lips met.
Xyronos walked by the window in the corner; while touching his lips — he still felt her soft lip. He feels pleased.
Even though he wanted their relationship to return as before, he tried not to force her. He would wait for her until she was ready.
What is crucial for him now is that Iris no longer thinks about his older brother. Only this one that matters to him.
After a few moments...
Xyronos heard the door open once more. He turned around and was astonished by Iris’s stunning appearance. She no longer wore casual clothes or nightgowns but a knee-length sky-blue one-piece dress that radiated bright colors.
Her gray hair, which was usually tied up, now flowed down her back, adding to her beauty. Look at her now; he feels like traveling back to their time together in the middle realm.
Unable to resist taking a closer look, Xyronos teleported and appeared just two steps away from her. He chuckled softly when he saw her almost tripping, suprised to see him blocking her way.
"Be careful, my dear," Xyronos said as he swiftly grabbed her hand, pulling her into his arm.
"Xy, stop teleporting in front of me," she lightly punched him in the chest. "You shocked me!" she protested. Yet, Xyronos only responded with his loving smile.
When they arrived in the dining room, Iris was Stunned, looking at so many delicious foods on the table.
For the first time since arriving here, Iris saw food that tempted her appetite. She glanced at him before saying, "Shall we start now, Xy?"
"After you, my lady," Xyronos pulled a chair for her and let her sit before he settled beside her.
"Xy, please stop talking and behave like we are from the Royal family," she laughed slightly. "We are just ordinary humans in this land."
Even though she was really a princess, it was long ago — reborn in this realm, she used to speak and act like a commoner.
In the past, she never liked and was proud of her status. She hates her family, especially her father and brothers. Several times, she had the idea of severing her ties with the Kingdom of Grayland and living a happy life with Xyronos.
Reborn in this land, give her hope. She could live here without her family interfering in her life. Again!
