Chapter 256: Don’t Hide Anything From Me

Willow Town.

Iris and the others arrived at Willow Town almost at 8 p.m.

Upon arriving at the port, she was surprised to see Xavier waiting for her since he had not mentioned that he would pick her up.

As Iris exited the yacht, she noticed Xavier’s gloomy expression and gaze. She knew something was troubling him.

"I’m surprised to see you here, Xavier..." Iris said while wrapping her hand around his arm. "I thought you would wait at home."

"I just want to go home together," Xavier smiled back at her and then asked Niles to bring Eric to their house while he and Iris rode in another car.

As soon as they got into the car, Xavier pulled Iris into his arms. He hugged her tightly while whispering in her ear, "Sorry, Iris... I—" his voice stopped, making Iris in his arms even more confused.

Iris could feel that something was bothering Xavier as if he was afraid of something. She pushed him lightly, trying to escape from his embrace, wanting to see his face. But Xavier tightened his embrace.

She waited silently, but her mind was busy guessing what was bothering him. Why has his mood changed a lot since they left the island?

Not long after, Iris could feel his embrace loosen. Slowly, she looked at his face.

"Why do you look sad and angry?" Iris asked. She gently touched his cold cheek. "Please share your worries with me, Xavier..." She demanded, but Xavier said nothing; he just turned on the car engine.

Helplessly, Iris turns her gaze to the empty street ahead, trying to ignore her curiosity. She will wait until he is willing to share.

When Iris arrived at their house, she didn’t see anyone in the living room.

"Why doesn’t Eric stay with us in the main house?" She asked, glancing at Xavier beside her.

"He will stay at the cabin just like Gavriel and the others. So, he could stay longer here."

Iris was surprised. She thought Xavier only allowed Eric to stay with them for a few days. "Thank you, Xavier, for allowing him to stay longer with us."

He didn’t say any words but led her to their bedroom on the second floor.

"You should take a rest now. I still have something to do outside, I will—"

"Please don’t go..." Iris immediately grasped his hand tightly. "There’s something I want to talk to you about." she continued.

Xavier’s brow furrowed. He couldn’t refuse her now despite wanting to avoid talking to her. "What do you want to talk about!?"

Iris didn’t comment on him but instead pulled him to sit on the sofa at the end of their bedroom. After they settled side by side on the couch, she started to ask him about the person who possessed Eric.

She was sure that Xavier already had a candidate he suspected. Still, she also could sense that he was reluctant to tell her. This puzzled her.

"Please, stop hiding anything from me, Xavier. I have the right to know who wants to hurt Eric and me..." She said seriously.

Iris suspected that the person who possessed Eric was also the one who killed her and destroyed the Shadow Guild headquarters. She makes a vow to get revenge on that person. She would not let him slip through her hands if she knew his identity.

Xavier smiled at her, although his smile seemed forced.

"I’m not hiding anything from you, my dear..." He said seriously, even though he wasn’t frank with her. "Well, I do have someone, I suspect, but I’m unsure if that person is him. I’m still investigating and looking for more clues."

He knows that the person who possesses Eric is his little brother, Xyronos. Only a few people could carry out that unique technique in this universe. And one of them was Xyronos.

Now, he regrets refusing to follow her to the island this morning. He wouldn’t have missed the opportunity to catch his brother if he had followed her.

This was very frustrating for Xavier because he hadn’t yet discovered the place where Xyronos was hiding. Xyronos and his followers concealed themselves so effectively that no trace he found could lead him there.

Annoyingly, his father also didn’t want to help him. He didn’t want to be involved in this matter.

At this moment, Xavier believed Xyoronos already knew about Iris’s whereabouts. Now, he only needs to lure Xyronos and catch him when he possesses Eric’s body again. He was sure Xyronos would do that again soon.

"Mmm, I’m pretty sure." When he saw her face turn pale, he continued. "You have to tell me immediately if you are suspicious of Eric. So that I can catch him."

She slowly swallowed, feeling nervous. "Y-You said, is it possible that he will take over Eric’s body again?"

He nodded firmly in answer to her question.

Iris’ shoulders slumped slightly. "What exactly does he want? Why is he so determined to dominate Eric’s body?"

Xavier’s hands clenched into tight fists. He knows Xyronos’ target is not Eric but his wife, Iris. He couldn’t utter anything. He could only look at her with mixed emotions.

Iris continued her words when something crossed her mind.

"Xavier, that person seems nice to me; there’s no slight second that person wanted to harm me. And, from how he talks and sees me, he seems to know me in my past life. Should I dig for more info from him? I need to know who I’m..."

"You don’t have to ask him. I will tell you everything!" Xavier didn’t allow her to finish her words.

Iris was surprised to hear that he already knew about her identity.
