Niles shook his head. "No need. After I checked his condition, there was no problem with him."

"Are you serious?" Iris doubts his answer.

"Yes, he’s asleep. You don’t have to worry."

Iris found it strange that Eric had suddenly fallen asleep, as he had never done that before.

"Niles, can you read his mind?"

"Of course I can," Niles answered while raising his eyebrows in confusion at Iris’s question. "You can’t read his thoughts?"

Iris was stunned. She didn’t answer him, but again, she tried to read Eric’s mind. What she found out shocked her.

’This is so damn weird!!’ Iris can’t help but curse because now, in just one try, she instantly hears Eric’s thoughts. Unlike before, she could only hear nothing there, like something shielding his mind. She tried to look deeper into his mind, and another wave of shock hit her.

Standing beside Iris, Niles was surprised to see her face pale as if all the blood under her skin had vanished.

"What happened, Iris? You are not feeling well, too!?" Niles asked in worry. He suspects that Eric and Iris are consuming something harmful that makes them ill.

However, that thought only lasted for a few seconds. It was impossible because Iris was not an ordinary human. A mere food poisoning couldn’t harm her. He put aside that thought.

"No need to worry. He will be awake soon," Niles turned her gaze away from Iris. He saw Eric again before continuing, "You can wait in your house, Iris. I will notify you if he is awake."

"I will wait here," Iris said as she sat on the edge of the bed.

She feels the need to speak with Eric and confirm whether her suspicion is true or not. She’s worried that someone may have taken control of him, as the person she talked to earlier seemed odd.

"Alright, but... if you need anything, just call me. I will wait outside with the others," Niles said before leaving the room.

After she saw Niles close the door, she took out her cell phone and texted Xavier.

[Iris: ] Xavier, please come to me if you are not busy. I’m in Eric’s cabin.

[Iris: ] Something weird happened to him; please check his condition.

Just as Iris put her cell phone in her pocket, she could feel Xavier’s aura emerging from the corner. She turned to look in the direction and saw him appear there.

"You came so fast," Iris greeted him in surprise. She thought Xavier was on the other side of the world and it would take time for him to get to this island.

"I’m in our house at Willow Town. I can come faster..." Xavier took her hand and squeezed it gently before he turned to look at the bed.

A frown appeared on his forehead when he saw Eric’s condition. Shortly after, his eyes turned slightly red, and his killing aura slowly emerged.

Upon seeing Xavier’s expression, Iris was stunned. From Xavier’s gaze, she could tell that Eric’s condition was not good at all, something that Niles could not see.

"X-Xavier did... something happened to brother Eric!?" Her voice sounded shaky. She was so worried.

He turns to see her, "Yes. Someone has just possessed his soul. That’s why he fainted. He doesn’t have the energy to wake up any time soon."

"W-What!? Someone has just possessed him?" Iris was shocked beyond words hearing his words. She had read about that forbidden technique, and only a powerful person could do that.

She turns her gaze at the bed, looking at Eric sleeping peacefully. Instantly, what happened earlier made her shiver.

Since meeting Eric this morning, she had been suspicious because his behavior seemed odd. He asked her to cook even though he knew she wasn’t good at it. And how he looked at her was strange; it wasn’t how Eric looked at her.

What made her even more suspicious was that Eric didn’t recognize Justin and the others. He also didn’t remember Xavier at all.

’Who the hell is that person who controls Eric? What was his motive for doing that?’ Iris wonders. She feels puzzled because that person seems to know her better.

Iris turned to look at Xavier with mixed feelings. She feels worried and afraid at the same time.

"Who is that person who possesses Eric’s soul? Can you recognize who he was?" She curiously wanted to know.

Xavier didn’t answer her right away. Instead, he asked her, "Iris, can you tell me what happened this morning with Eric? I mean, tell me if Something peculiar happened to him?" he could guess who that person was, but he just wanted to make sure of something.

Iris told him everything. She starts with how Eric asked her to cook for him.

"At that time, I was perplexed why he asked me to cook for him!? Because all this time, Eric was the same as you; he always forbade me to enter the kitchen because he knew I couldn’t cook—" She paused when she saw Xavier frown.

"Xavier, you know what? I guess... I start to remember my past life in Middle Earth."

The light in Iris’s eyes gradually brightens as she remembers today’s success: cooking a delicious dish that earned praise from Eric.

Xavier was surprised to hear that. He feels happy but at the same time worried. If she remembers her previous life completely, she might run away from him and look at his brother instead.
