Chapter 234: Reluctant

Chapter 234: Reluctant

"Pretty sister, what a good sign?" Suddenly, Justin’s cute, adorable voice interrupted Iris.

She turned to see Justin standing a few steps before her, his already pale face appearing even more so.

"Did you remember anything about yourself, Justin?" Iris asked eagerly.

Justin frowned slightly, "Huh!? Did I lose my memories? Why should I remember anything about myself?" he asked, glancing back at Gavriel and Iris. Seeing their blank expressions, he scratched his head in confusion.

Iris and Gavriel’s shoulders slumped. They hope Justin remembers something, but he remains oblivious. It seemed he had returned to his previous state.

’I guess this fool was just trying to prank us!’ Gavriel narrowed his eyes at Justin, attempting to read his thoughts, yet found nothing. It was as if an invisible shield shrouded his entire mind.

’I’m not certain,’ Iris admitted, feeling helpless to know that Justin’s memories seemed to retreat once more when he regained his powers. Gosh! This is troublesome.

...

While Iris and Gavriel were busy scolding Justin in their minds, Justin’s voice suddenly snapped them out of their thoughts.

"Brother Gavriel, I want to go home now..." Justin’s voice sounded cute, but the way he spoke was similar to his old self.

Gavriel and Iris turned their attention back to him. Feels stunned.

"Justin, we still need to continue training. There are many things left for you to do to awaken your power. Why do you want to go home?" Gavriel asked. He was curious about Justin’s sudden urge to return home.

"Ugh, well... I do want to keep training with you, Uncle. But... I feel thirsty," Justin explained.

"Thirsty? Go drink inside," Gavriel said. "I have plenty of water..."

’Gosh, Gavriel! Justin means he needs blood...’ Iris chuckled, observing Gavriel’s cluelessness while talking with Justin.

’Damn it! How could I forget he is a vampire...’ Gavriel flashed a quick grin at Iris.

"Uncle, I didn’t like the water in your house. I want red juice. On the mountain, I caught an alluring fragrance, something delicious, similar to my red juice... When I checked the source of the fragrance, I was surprised to find it came from a mountain beast about half a mile off my route. Now, I feel thirsty. I need to drink my juice!"

Observing Justin’s eyes gradually turn crimson; Iris reminded Gavriel to let him go now, fearing he might attack them if he couldn’t endure his craving for blood.

"Okay. You can go home now. But be back here at 4 PM for more practice," Gavriel instructed, waving his hand casually to let him go. Dealing with this troublesome vampire wasn’t his preference.

However, Justin didn’t immediately depart. He gazed at Iris, "Pretty sister, let’s go home..."

Iris shook her head, "I still need to talk to Gavriel. You go home now. If my husband returns, inform him I’m here."

....

Iris glanced at Gavriel, surprised to find him staring at her with a look that seemed to say, "Why are you still here? Go home. I need to be alone."

Iris smiled at him, "Why are you looking at me like that? Don’t want me to stay here longer?"

"Just say it. I need some rest, too. That kid exhausts me," Gavriel responded, gazing toward the forest. He pondered locating the beast Justin mentioned earlier; an idea appeared in his mind.

Gavriel couldn’t just let that mountain creature go. He needed the beast to awaken Justin’s reflexes. If Justin fought the beast, it would stimulate his agility.

This is an excellent opportunity since he hadn’t encountered any wild beasts in this area since arriving. According to Niles, Xavier, to tame all the beasts here to provide the blood they consumed, replacing human blood.

...

"We’ll visit Eric on the Island tomorrow with Justin," Iris said, slightly smiling when she saw him gasp in surprise. "I need you to come along to continue his training there..."

"Should I come?" Gavriel asked, feeling reluctant to join her, especially if Xavier was around. He preferred the peace of living here without Justin and Xavier’s presence.

"Yes, I need you. I can’t manage Justin on my own, especially at night." She feels terrible about asking him to come with her, but this is Xavier’s idea.

"Damn it, Iris!" Gavriel’s voice rose slightly, expressing his frustration. "You want me to go just to babysit Justin?" Her words hurt him. He shook his head, unwilling to go. "No, No... thank you, Iris, I can’t go with you. You can find someone else to accompany you." He turned away, refusing to go.

Iris smiled at his reaction. She already imagines Gavriel will refuse. But Xavier had assured her that Gavriel and Niles would accompany her. That’s why she told him.

"Wait, are you serious? You didn’t want to come along?" She asked casually.

"Yes! Sorry, I need to take a rest..." He answers.

Iris nodded slightly before saying, "Well... actually, this wasn’t my idea. But my husband’s idea, he said he will ask you to go with us. But to find out you’re refusing—"

"Wait...Wait..." Gavriel interrupted, raising his hand to halt her speech. Seeing her frown, he continued, "You’re saying Xavier mentioned I would go there with you?"

"Of course, it’s my husband’s idea," Iris told him about her intention to return home the same day. Yet, Xavier suggested otherwise and gave her an idea about Gavriel and Niles.

"Okay, I will go—" Gavriel swallowed silently, moistening his suddenly dry throat upon realizing it was Xavier’s idea. "What time are we leaving?" he inquired curiously.

Iris didn’t rush to respond. She narrowed her eyes at him, "Are you sure you want to come with us, Gavriel? You don’t have to force yourself. I can ask someone else—"

"I’ll go. Don’t worry, I didn’t feel forced," Gavriel reassured her with a smile.

"Alright, we’ll leave after breakfast," Iris smiled cheerfully. "Oh, right... We’ll use regular transportation because Eric doesn’t know our true identity."

Gavriel sighed deeply, pondering the trouble tomorrow’s trip might bring. Although he didn’t want to go, he couldn’t ignore this if this was Xavier’s idea.
