Chapter 232: You Come From Middle Realm

Chapter 232: You Come From Middle Realm

She also remembered that Xavier had told her he liked her because of her unique personality, not because of her similarities to other women — that’s why she was sure she wasn’t from there.

However...

Amidst the peculiar events around her, the possibility began to feel real.

Xavier stared intensely at her without uttering a word. At that moment, he harbored an urge to convey numerous thoughts to her, yet he found himself at a loss, still grappling with his inner question: Why couldn’t he remember her? Who’s she?

He understood Iris comes from the middle realm. However, her true identity remained elusive to him, and their relationship was a mystery.

Despite numerous attempts to seek information through Silvana and Lucian, he never received a definite answer. It seemed like an invisible force prevented them from divulging the details.

Knowing that he may have had a connection with Iris in the past, Xavier often thought of two possibilities.

Firstly, Iris shared a romantic relationship with him, and God reunited them in this lower realm. The second, more daunting possibility, is that they were enemies, prompting God to erase their memories.

The latter possibility terrifies him. If they were enemies in the past, it would lead to a tragic end for them both. And he can’t accept that.

How would he cope with that? A life without her? He would prefer to seek death from God if such a fate awaited them. What purpose would there be to continue this journey if they were to remain apart?

"Xavier!? Are you alright?"

He was pulled back from his reverie by Iris’ soft voice that sounded so close to his ear. A smile appears through his gaze when he sees her face seem so close to him.

"Hmm..." Xavier said, smiling, though the fear in his heart persisted. "Iris, I’m fine. What was your question again? Can you repeat it for me?"

She faintly smiled before repeating, "I need to know, did I also come from the middle realm?"

Seeing Xavier silently staring at her, not responding to her question, was enough to convince Iris. There was no way she had come from that place.

Iris wanted further clarification, but the words stuck on the tip of her tongue. She felt frustrated, but in the end, she could only wait for him to continue speaking.

After a few more seconds, she noticed Xavier’s eyes gradually return to their usual calm and affectionate state. However, she couldn’t bring herself to meet his gaze. She feared hearing his answer for some unknown reason—afraid of disappointment if they weren’t from the same place, the Middle Realm.

She felt his arms embracing her, and Xavier’s calm yet somber voice soon echoed in her ears.

"You come from the Middle Realm, but—" Xavier paused as he sensed Iris nudging him slightly.

Their gazes met, and he found amusement in her shocked expression. Xavier recalled having a similar reaction when he first heard that Iris hailed from the middle realm.

"Are you telling the truth!?" Shocked, She asked, "X-Xavier, are you sure I’m from the middle realm!?" Despite hearing his words clearly, she needed to confirm again, ensuring she hadn’t misheard him.

"Hmm, you indeed come from that place..." Xavier replied while gently caressing her colorless cheeks.

She gasped in shock upon hearing his confirmation. Her hand now felt cold. She had never imagined what she truly wanted. Having the exact origin as Xavier and the others would come true.

’BUT?’ This word suddenly resounded in her mind. Why was there a ’BUT’?

"Xavier... earlier you said, but... But what?" Her narrowed eyes fixed on his golden gaze, eager to hear his response.

A sour smile formed as he spoke, "I didn’t have memories about you, Iris. And it seems you also didn’t have those memories about me, about your life in the middle realm..."

Her frown deepened. Her mind felt hazy. Indeed, she didn’t recall anything about their life in the middle realm. Even when she attempted to seek it within the memories of the Young Iris, there was nothing about that realm.

"Are you sure I’m the correct one? Maybe the owner of this body comes from the middle realm, not me!?" Iris asked.

Xavier hurriedly shook his head. "I’m certain about this. It’s not your body that originates from there, but your soul. Your aura recently emerged; we realized you haven’t been from this place since then. You come from the middle realm, just like the others."

The more Xavier explained, the more confused she became.

"Wait... you said WE!?" Before Xavier could respond, she pressed on, expressing her bewilderment, "Xavier, who knows about me? And how could you notice me when you don’t have any memories about me?" This puzzle confused her greatly.

"At first, I just guessed that you were not from this realm because of your significant abilities, different from other humans who get a second chance like you," he explained.

Iris could only hold her breath as she listened.

"However, when Silvana saw you, she realized you were not from this place but from the Middle Realm. So, at that point, I started to believe that you are indeed from there..."

Feeling thrilled, she grasped Xavier’s hand. "Does anyone else know about me? Did Justin and the others find out?"

Xavier shook his head. "Only three people know, the last one being Lucian," He gently squeezed her hands before continuing, "The others didn’t have any idea you come from the middle realm, but I guess... they started to grow suspicious about it."

Iris was still overwhelmed with this newfound information. But something still bothered her; she wanted to know who she was. Did she have family there? What was her relationship with Xavier?

Just before she wanted to ask him again, she heard him say, "It’s almost midnight, darling. It would be best if you slept now. We will talk again tomorrow..."

She wanted to ask many things but restrained herself and tried to sleep, though her mind couldn’t stop thinking.
