Chapter 225: Pretty Sister

Chapter 225: Pretty Sister

Four months have passed, and now July has arrived, bringing the peak of summer’s embrace. It is a month adorned with warmth and light. However, as the sun rises in the sky, the temperature in Willow town remains pleasant; it’s neither too cold nor too hot.

Over the past four months, a lot has happened to Iris and the people around her.

She actively embraced the mission given by Lucian, and she feels grateful for it. Carrying out twenty missions, Lucian rewards her with abundant resources. Now, her magical abilities and powers increase rapidly.

While carrying out her mission, Gavriel remained by her side. In truth, she didn’t want company, fearing a repeat of what happened with Justin. Still, Lucian and Xavier insisted Gavriel accompany her. She had no choice but to accept their arrangement.

Because Gavriel often accompanied her on missions, he now lived in their housing complex. Xavier allows him to live in a small house near the forest, specially provided for him, alongside Niles, who also stays there.

...

Despite Iris succeeding in her mission, something peculiar occurred. She never encountered Demons or Dark Witches; they seemed to vanish after the incident involving Justin four months ago.

Iris feels uneasy imagining the Demons hiding in the dark and stalking her, yet she never notices them.

"Did the Demons and Dark Witches know our movements?" She repeatedly asked Gavriel like that, but he didn’t know the reason.

She also asked Xavier about the disappearance of the Demons, but his answer was ambiguous.

"Perhaps they are afraid of you, improving and capable of defeating them instantly," Xavier always responded like this. Later, she decided to refrain from asking further.

Several times, she considered that perhaps the Demon and Dark Witch were afraid to realize she was actively searching for them, especially the Dark Witch, who caused Justin’s regression into a baby.

She never ceased praying these past four months, asking God to lead her to that Dark Witch. If she ever confronts that Witch, she vows to ensure the Witch suffers and returns what was done to Justin.

...

Regarding Justin’s condition, she feels very grateful to Silvana because she helps Justin to grow rapidly. He does not follow the usual growth and organ development of humans in general.

Within just four months, Justin has acquired the intelligence of a four-year-old child, displaying remarkable intellect for his age. A promising sign is his emerging ability to regain his powers—a faint magic aura starting to appear surrounds him.

However, Xavier feels bothered by Justin—he harbors jealousy toward the boy. This often becomes a subject of jests from Iris directed at him.

With his fourth-year-old mind, Justin now grows fond of Iris. Ever since he learned to speak, He has always considered her as his pretty sister.

When Justin turned four, they started telling him about his true identity. They told him that he had experienced a powerful spell that caused him to become a baby again. However, Justin still finds it difficult to understand it fully.

Iris doesn’t mind when Justin refers to her as his pretty sister and consistently seeks attention and affection from her because she feels responsible for Justin’s injury.

However, her closeness with Justin is enough to annoy Xavier. Yet, he tries not to show it to Iris because he understands that Iris always blames herself for what happened to Justin.

...

"Pretty sister," a small child’s voice came from behind. Iris, immersed in reading a book under the Willow tree by the lake, immediately turned her head. She was surprised to see Justin walking with Gavriel tailing behind him.

She closed the book and smiled at Justin, then to Gavriel.

"Why are you guys here?" Iris asked, confused. She knows their plan today: Gavriel will play with Justin in his house near the forest.

"This kid refuses to leave without you," Gavriel laughed wryly as he gave Justin a silent treat.

Gavriel also feels the same guilt as Iris, so he tries to hold back Justin’s childish behavior, which often makes him want to throw Justin into the lake.

Iris was speechless to hear Justin’s reason. She looked at Justin sitting beside her before asking, "Why didn’t you go with Gavriel?"

Justin didn’t utter a word; he stared at Iris silently, ignoring her question.

"You can go with him, you can play in the forest. You need exercise, or you will become weak." Iris said seriously, but seeing Justin’s panicked gaze made her silently sigh.

"No, pretty sister, please don’t ask me to go with him," Justin replied, sounding adorable.

Iris felt the urge to pinch Justin’s cheeks a few times, but every time she remembered that Justin was an adult, she stopped.

"Why?" Iris asked patiently, her tone soft as if she were speaking to her son.

Justin glanced quickly at Gavriel, who stood near the lake with his back facing them.

"Pretty sister, Uncle Gavriel is always rude to me," Justin said innocently.

Gavriel’s mouth twitched as he turned to see Justin with an annoyed look. "Uncle? Call me brother," he commanded in irritation.

"No, Uncle. I will be impolite if I call you like that," Justin blinked a few times before continuing. "You are too old to be called brother," he said, sticking his tongue out, then glanced at Iris with a smile.

"Oh, please, little Justin. You’re so biased! You call me Uncle while you call Iris pretty sister... She is also old, almost the same age as me!" Gavriel walked towards them, his eyes fixed on the childish Justin.

"U-Uncle Gavriel," Justin hesitated, feeling sad and miserable. "H-How... could you call my pretty sister old!?"

Gavriel was utterly speechless. He turned his eyes toward Iris. But before he could say something, he saw her smiling widely. He feels betrayed.

’Iris, did you teach him to be this rude to me?’ Gavriel asked her through her mind.

’Of course not! Don’t accuse me of that,’ She shook her head, half smiling at Gavriel.

’Can I toss these fools into the lake? At least he needs to wash his brain,’ Gavriel expressed annoyance.

’Goodness! He’s only four years old; give him some time, Gavriel.’

’Whatever... you take care of him. I’ll go back to my house!’ Gavriel vanished, surprising Justin.
