Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife
Chapter 223: I Want To Find The Demon King

Chapter 223: I Want To Find The Demon King

The sun soared higher in the sky, yet Iris and Gavriel continued their walk. As they got further away from the house, they relished the scenery and discussed any subject that piqued Iris’ curiosity.

Gavriel happily answered her questions, though carefully avoided anything related to Lord Xavier. He couldn’t bear facing the Vampire Lord’s wrath for exposing his personal information to Iris.

What puzzled Justin the most was why Lord Xavier continued concealing his true identity from his wife!?

Gavriel sometimes speculated that Xavier didn’t harbor deep affection for Iris. Perhaps he foresaw that Iris would never attain immortality, and eventually, she would die just like an average human.

Thinking of Iris growing old and eventually passing away brought a twinge of sadness to Gavriel; he wanted to be friends with her for a long time — Despite moments of annoyance, he found her friendship and conversations enjoyable.

Glancing at her, he silently prayed, ’Iris, you must strive hard to achieve immortality like us.’

...

Before long,

They sat on the bench under an old willow tree near the lake. Iris was deep in thought, trying to understand her conversation with Gavriel.

Iris thought back to what had happened to her the past few months since the fake Eric killed her. Just thinking about it, she felt goosebumps.

She realized something; what happened in her previous life was related to what she had experienced recently.

After rebirth, she begins to encounter creatures she previously only knew existed in fantasy stories—creatures she once believed were the product of writers’ imaginations. However, it is undeniably real.

She encountered an Angel and even crossed paths with a vampire. The most bizarre part... She ended up marrying the Vampire Lord.

How did such an extraordinary turn of events happen to her?

Initially, Iris believed it was God’s blessing, granting her a second chance at life.

However, after Gavriel mentioned the Dark Witch’s intention to invade her memories, she grew suspicious of another unsettling possibility—an idea she found doubtful and hard to fathom.

Glancing at Gavriel, who appeared to be resting his eyes while crossing his arms, made Iris hesitant to disturb him.

However, the persistent questions in her mind left her no choice. If she didn’t ask now, curiosity would consume her. Moreover, questioning Xavier, who typically returned only at night, wasn’t feasible.

"Gavriel, are you sleeping?" Her voice was soft, wary of waking him.

"No!" He responded without opening his eyes.

"Can I ask you something?"

Gavriel’s thick eyebrow arched slightly as he opened his eyes, meeting her gaze. He found it astonishing how she bombarded him with so many questions. This lady was indeed relentless.

After a deep sigh, Gavriel finally responded, "Seriously, Iris? Another question!? Why do you ask so many things today?" Confusion enveloped him. "Have you somehow gained the ability to see the future? Is that why you’re bombarding me with questions, foreseeing this as our last meeting?"

Iris, "..."

"Impressive! How do you know that? Are you now able to read my mind, Gavriel..." She grinned.

Utterly shocked, Gavriel sat upright, facing her. "Y-You really have that rare ability? Seriously?" His voice trembled. The thought of her possessing the ability to foresee the future was chilling.

’Did she come from the Middle Real?’ Gavriel wondered but swiftly dismissed the idea. ’No... No... It’s impossible; she should emanate a magical aura if she came from there.’

Gavriel narrowed his eyes, trying to see a trace of magical aura on Iris’ body. It didn’t take long to see what he was looking for. His eyes widened in shock as he detected something unusual around her.

’Bloody hell! She really does have a magical aura?’ Gavriel’s confusion deepened.

He remembered the first time he saw her; she hadn’t exuded this aura. So why now?

’Did she really come from there? That’s why Lord Xavier married her?’

Gavriel opened his mouth a few times but failed to utter a sound.

...

As Gavriel was lost in his trembling and shocked mind, Iris almost laughed at his shocked expression.

Deciding not to tease him further, she quipped, "And you simply believed me?"

Her words made Gavriel tense, feeling the urge to scold her, yet he refrained.

"Iris, you lied to me?" He cursed under his breath upon seeing her nod. "Can you please spare my fragile heart? I’m different from your husband. He can’t die..."

Iris was speechless.

"Alright, I have some business to attend to. I’ll return tonight. Goodbye!" With that, Gavriel vanished, leaving Iris stunned.

Taking a deep breath, Iris could only curse Gavriel, "Damn it, Gavriel!! I hadn’t even finished asking you... How dare you leave me like that?"

"What are you going to ask him?" Xavier’s voice came from behind, startling Iris.

Iris turned back and saw Xavier walking towards her. She could see his smile radiating through his beaming eyes—a smile that was rarely seen. He looked so handsome it made her forget that this man was the most dangerous creature that ever existed in this place; in just one move, he could kill many people.

"Why are you coming back early?" Iris smiled back at him as she stood from the bench.

She felt amused, understanding why Gavriel suddenly vanished. He must have sensed Xavier’s presence and hurriedly left. ’Gosh! Gavriel... why are you afraid of him? Xavier, the kindest I have ever met...’

...

"My work is finished, and I miss my pretty wife so much... That’s why I came home early," Xavier casually answered as he opened his arms to embrace her.

Iris chuckled at his cheesy words, slipping into his embrace and wrapping her arms around his waist.

"So, what do you want to ask Gavriel about?" Xavier’s voice sounded from above her head.

She asked him, "Can I also go to the Middle Realm?"

Xavier was surprised to hear her question. "Why do you want to go there?"

Iris released her hug and stepped back to see Xavier’s face more clearly. "I want to find the Demon King—"

Hearing Iris’ words, Xavier felt as if lightning struck him. He felt his cold blood burning for the first time since he arrived in this lower realm.
