Chapter 216: Fourth Task (4)

Chapter 216: Fourth Task (4)

Iris didn’t refute Gavriel’s words. She indeed understood that. She was just a human; how could she master the ability to concoct medicine like Silvana? Despite this deep understanding, a flicker of hope remained that God might grant her wish if she begged.

...

"So, what is your plan?" Gavriel broke the silence in the car.

Iris glanced at the back row, meeting Gavriel’s gaze. "My plan?" A sinister smile graced her lips. "Kill them all!"

Gavriel chuckled. "I know that. But how?"

"Oh, come on, man, stop asking. Just enjoy the show..." Justin chimed in.

Gavriel could only shoot his annoyed glare at Justin. He didn’t ask again, just observed them in silence.

As they abruptly exited the highway, even though their actual exit was still miles away, it surprised Justin. He quickly glanced at Iris, wanting to ask her what had happened, but when he saw her smile, he knew immediately she must have forced their target to exit.

"Iris, you’re going to attack them now?" Justin asked while looking at the two cars ahead.

"Hmm, a few meters ahead, there’s an empty, deserted land. We will go to that place," Iris answered cheerfully. Then she turned to Gavriel. "This is my plan. Lure them to that place and end this task."

Gavriel was left speechless. He already knew, ’Gosh! Why did you only say it now?’ He didn’t want to spoil the fun. All he could manage was, "Wow, awesome, Iris! I can’t wait to see you in action." He said while maintaining his forced smile.

"Will they notice you manipulated the driver’s mind?" Justin worried Iris’s plan might have been exposed, especially with a Demon in the car. Taking the wrong route might alert them now.

Iris turned her gaze toward Justin and smiled. "They won’t. I’ve manipulated all their minds. They’ll believe they’ve arrived at the club..."

Justin and Gavriel were speechless, discovering that Iris’s power to manipulate people’s minds had strengthened. Now, she could control almost ten people simultaneously. The progression of her strength shocked them.

Justin could only gaze at Iris in awe.

’Why did Lucian allocate so many resources to her growth?’ Gavriel questioned if Lucian’s actions were biased while he needed to complete time-consuming tasks to increase his strength.

Ignoring their shock, Iris said, "Justin, I’ll head straight to the empty field. You can follow me after parking your car," She turned to Gavriel. "Do you want to come with me or with Justin?"

"With you!" Gavriel answered without hesitation.

Justin lost his words, slightly annoyed. How could they leave like that!?

Knowing he couldn’t hold her back, he could only warn her to be careful, "Iris, you have to wait for me before you take action."

She didn’t say anything; she simply gestured an OK sign and vanished. Gavriel followed suit, teleporting away.

Iris appeared on the massive tree branch not far from the empty land. She gazed at the two cars approaching the spot—where she decided to eliminate them all.

Not long after, Gavriel appeared beside her. He stood there casually, glancing at the same view as Iris.

"Gavriel, why did you decide to come here?" Iris asked, curious because Gavriel hadn’t responded to her messages since she informed him about this assignment. It was as if he hadn’t read her message at all.

However, now, he appears without warning. She started to become suspicious of him.

"I have an assignment nearby. When I sensed your aura, I located you and appeared in the car," Gavriel said casually, glancing at her.

A faint smile appears in the corner of his lips before he asks, "Why? Do you regret telling me?"

"I don’t regret it," Iris awkwardly smiled. "I’m just curious whether someone forced you to assist me..." she guessed Xavier might have urged this man to come.

Gavriel was utterly speechless hearing Iris’s words because what she said was true. He came here because Lucian instructed him to protect Iris.

At first, Gavriel was hesitant to help Iris because he knew that Iris’s power had increased significantly. She is no longer the same Iris he met in Silenthill; she is like a different person now. Her aura and abilities are much different from what they were before.

However, Gavriel does understand why Lucian had compelled him to accompany Iris upon seeing so many Demons guarding her target now.

"You think I’m easy to boss around?" Gavriel responded with a question. "Well, so that you know, no one forced me to come. I came here because I’m curious about your strength."

Iris narrowed her eyes, peering into Gavriel’s eyes, attempting to discern if he was lying. For a moment, she found no trace of hesitation there. Unfortunately, she also couldn’t read Gavriel’s mind, which annoyed her.

’Gosh! I must work harder to enhance my abilities and match Gavriel’s strength.’ Iris thought. She fixed her gaze on the two cars now halted below.

All the men in the car emerged, checking their surroundings. Soon after, Christoffer Lewis stepped out—a slim, six-foot-tall man with short black hair and glasses, looking sharp in his light gray suit.

"Why didn’t you make a move?" Gavriel asked, curious why she remained in her spot, seemingly hesitant to attack her target.

’Justin!! Damn it!! What’s taking you so long? If you don’t appear by the count of three, I’ll attack without you!’ Iris attempted to communicate with him mentally, but there was no response.

"Iris? Are you alright?" Gavriel began to worry, noticing Iris’s face darkening as if she were angry.

"I’m alright. But something feels off about Justin. I can’t sense his presence around here."

Gavriel, who had forgotten entirely about Justin, was stunned. He attempted to locate him but found nothing.

"This is odd. Where is he? He was supposed to follow us here right away..." Gavriel turned to her again.

"I know. Gavriel, please look for him. I’ll handle them quickly and join you," she said.

Initially, Gavriel is hesitant to leave her. But after he saw the confidence in her gaze, he finally nodded and vanished to search for Justin.
