Chapter 214: Fourth Task (2)
Setting aside her curiosity, Iris teleported to Justin on the building rooftop. What she saw struck her.
’Why did this demon become a statue?’ Justin asked, glancing at Iris, who appeared beside him.
Iris didn’t say anything but walked toward the Demon, who knelt on the floor with its head hung low, motionless.
A faint line appeared on Iris’s forehead as she observed the Demon attempting to read its mind. Suddenly, realization struck her—it was a soul shifter.
’This demon is using a soul shifter method?’ Iris wonders. She had recently read about this in a book, but this was her first time witnessing someone use this method.
She immediately turned to Justin, her gaze flashing with worry.
’Justin, this Demon has already fled, using someone else’s body. This is only an empty shell,’ she said, lightly kicking the Demon, causing its body to fall to the concrete floor.
’Damn! You mean this Demon uses a method called a soul shifter?’ Justin looked at Iris in disbelief. He knew of the method but had never seen it used in his entire life, leaving him uncertain if the Demon was still present.
’Hmm, it is,’ Iris replied, scanning the area a mile from their position, trying to locate the Demon. But she heard the sniper’s thoughts before she could check her surroundings.
In a flash, Iris moved toward the sniper. She waved her hands in the air casually as though conducting an orchestra; the sniper’s body automatically froze.
"Tsk! You have no chance to run away!" Iris hissed softly as she pushed the man’s body down, his knees hitting the concrete. Ignoring the man’s howl of pain, she forcefully pulled his hair back to make him face her.
"Why do you want to kill her?" Iris’s voice sounded cold, causing the man to shiver as he looked at her. He didn’t say anything; instead, he smiled at Iris before biting something in his teeth.
"Fuck, he bit poison—" Justin shouted, appearing behind the sniper to stop him. But it was too late; the man was already dead.
Iris threw the body away and stood straight. She removed her gloves, replacing them with new ones from her spatial ring. She feels, disguised, holding the man’s hair.
Later, she continued to scan her surroundings, hoping the Demon was still around, but she couldn’t find him.
After confirming the Demon’s gone, she double-checked on Daisy, feeling worried that the Demon might return to harm her. N
"Could you arrange someone to watch over Sister Daisy? I fear they might come back to harm her." She locked eyes with Justin.
Justin nodded slightly, noticing fear flash through her eyes. "No worries. I’ll arrange for someone to guard her and alert us if the Demon returns," he assured, walking toward Iris. Standing beside her, he followed her gaze toward Daisy’s hotel room.
Curious about her thoughts, Justin glanced at her. "Who sent that assassin? Why target her?" Justin asked, intrigued. To him, Daisy was just an ordinary shop owner in Silenthill. Why would a professional assassin or even a Demon want her dead? It puzzled him.
"Her father’s political opponents..." Iris paused, sighing deeply before meeting Justin’s shocked gaze. "You know what? Her father was my target, Christoffer Lewis."
"W-What? What a coincidence," Justin said in disbelief.
Iris could only smile bitterly, realizing her targets were connected with her. She explained this to Justin, shocking him further.
"What? You killed Mr. Alberto, our professor?" He never imagined their professor’s death was at her hands.
She nodded.
"Ruby Winters, too?" Justin gasped, his eyes widened.
Again, she nodded. "Well, Ruby wasn’t my target. She was just in the wrong place, and I had no choice but to kill her too..."
"And now this one... connected to you. You knew Daisy personally." Justin said.
"That’s why I’m confused. Why did God assign them to me? What’s His purpose?" Iris expressed her confusion, looking for an answer from Gavriel as well but finding none.
Justin couldn’t respond, listening silently to Iris’s venting. He glanced at Daisy before asking again, "And the earlier assassin was her father’s political opponent?"
"That’s what I gathered from the assassin’s memories," Iris said, pinching her temple, feeling an inexplicable ache.
"You know, Justin, what puzzles me? Why does Christoffer Lewis’s opposition have a Demon?" She couldn’t find the answer in the assassin’s mind, as the assassin was unaware his colleague was a demon.
Justin chuckled at Iris’s question. "Tsk, Iris... did you forget the Demon’s traits?" He looked at her, explaining their nature as manipulators who pit people against each other for their goals.
Iris nodded, agreeing with Justin’s explanation.

Meanwhile...
At the same time, a tall man clad in a dark robe with intricate gold patterns stood in a room with a view of the blue lake stretching before his eyes, the sky soon turning bright.
He turned back when he heard footsteps approaching.
"Your Grace, someone called from K Country," the butler with short white hair entered the room and offered him the cell phone.
The man in the dark robe received the phone. He silently listened to the call without saying anything. Still, his handsome face slowly turned dark, and his eyes became sharp with dilated black pupils.
"Are you certain it was her?" His icy voice filled the room, sending a chill down the butler’s spine.
"Yes, Your Grace. Even though I didn’t hear her speak or observe her for too long, I ran the moment she arrived because that woman, her magic aura, was so strong, just like what I remember from the past. She was powerful, capable of teleportation, and reading minds..."
A faint smile crept onto the man’s face. After a few more words, he ended the call, returning the phone to the butler before fixing his gaze back on the lake.
He was increasingly convinced that the girl was Iris; he wouldn’t believe anyone else if they reported to him like that. However, the one who called him was his commander in Country K — there was no reason for him not to believe him.
"Prepare! We will leave for Country K!" The man in the black robe issued the order, shocking the butler.
