Chapter 213: Fourth Task (1)

Chapter 213: Fourth Task (1)

Next Day.

District 4 comprises three towns: Willow Town, where Iris and Xavier live; Cedar Town, which is smaller than Willow Town; and Redwood Town, the largest city in the district.

Iris’s target resides in Redwood Town. They need a two-hour flight from Willow Town to fly there. However, Iris and Justin didn’t need to use a plane or a car; they could Teleport from Willow Town.

Even though they didn’t arrive immediately and had to stop at several places, they only needed 10 minutes to reach their destination.

Upon reaching the mainland, they headed directly to Redwood Town.

Justin had already prepared their car at one of Xavier’s properties in Redwood Town.

When they arrived, the sun was high in the sky, and few people were walking along the road. The streets weren’t bustling either; only a few cars passed them despite being on the main road in the heart of Redwood Town.

"Iris, I sent you the schedule for your target today. Have you seen it?" Justin glanced briefly at her before refocusing on the road ahead.

"Yes, I’ve read it. But there’s no need to rush. We can eliminate him when he’s not in this city," Iris replied.

She already knew her target, Christoffer Lewis, would attend a party tonight at the club on the border. She had a plan to kill him before he arrived at the party.

Justin was shocked to hear that she intended to stay in the city until nightfall. He had assumed she would swiftly complete her task and return to Willow Town.

"Why the delay? Do you have a plan here?"

Iris glanced at him. "This is my first time in Redwood. I want to explore this town..." Her smile faded as she turned her gaze outside the car.

Before long, Iris spotted a familiar coffee shop. She urged Justin to go there.

"Let’s get our coffee while we explore the city, Justin," she offered.

"Sure!"

Justin parked his car and followed Iris into the café. After placing their orders and getting their iced coffee, they strolled around the area.

The street was lined with upscale boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.

"Interest in shopping? You might find some new bags or clothes in that shop," Justin suggested, glancing at Iris.

But Iris didn’t answer him. She continued to walk.

"You like shopping, don’t you?" Justin asked again casually, but his casual question unintentionally insulted Iris. She hates shopping; luckily, Xavier had eliminated the need — he had bought everything she needed, including clothing.

"No, I don’t enjoy shopping," Iris replied firmly.

Justin frowned, "Since when don’t you like shopping?" he asked, puzzled.

Iris was speechless. Has this man forgotten?

She vividly remembered explaining to him that she was no longer the same young Iris. Why was he asking again?

"Gosh!! Justin... Did you leave your brain on the island?" Iris rolled her eyes and turned away, looking in one direction. "I’m not the young Iris. Remember that!" She warns him.

"Hahaha... Iris, my dear friend... how do you know I left my brain on the island?" Justin can’t help but laugh because he had forgotten entirely about that. "Well, Iris—" his voice trailed off when he noticed her abrupt halt and paid no heed to him.

Scanning their surroundings, he realized they were now on a quiet street a few blocks from the cafe where they had parked their car.

"What are you looking at?" Justin asked, but when he didn’t receive an answer, he followed her line of sight. His surprise mirrored hers as they both spotted a sniper positioned atop the tallest building, a sniper rifle pointed in a specific direction.

Despite the mile-long distance from the sniper, their abilities allowed them to see him clearly. Iris had activated her Divine Eyes, while Justin, being a vampire, naturally possessed sharp eyes and ears.

Initially disinterested in intervening. But Iris found something intriguing. After confirming what she saw, she asked Justin, "Did you notice something!?"

"Hmm, the man beside him was a Demon," Justin’s voice remained calm, but Iris caught a glimpse of killing intent in his gaze.

A sudden feeling of worry enveloped Iris’ mind as she wondered about the sniper’s target. Whoever it was, it must have been important for this killer to try to murder in broad daylight.

"Who’s the target?" she muttered while shifting her gaze in another direction, utilizing her divine eyes.

It didn’t take long for her to spot the sniper’s intended victim. Her shock made her speechless when she saw Daisy, the boutique owner she often visited in Silenthill.

"Why would they want to kill Sister Daisy?" Suddenly, worry floods Iris. "Justin, I’ll help Sister Daisy. You capture that Demon," she instructed. However, before she could teleport, Justin stopped her.

"Daisy doesn’t have any memories about you..." Justin explained. "We erased her memories because she knew you."

"Okay, I understand," she said, and instantly, she vanished. A second later, Justin disappeared as well.

...

Active, an invisible barrier, Iris appears in Daisy’s hotel room. Relief washed over her as she observed Daisy seated at the office desk beside the glass window, unharmed by the sniper’s bullet.

A quick glance confirmed Justin had subdued both the sniper and the Demon. With Daisy safe, Iris planned to teleport to Justin for further investigation.

Just before she vanished, something on the desk caught her eye. The identity card displays Daisy’s full name. Her last name sent shockwaves through Iris—Daisy Lewis.

’Why does that last name sound familiar?’ Iris pondered silently. Determined, she reached for Daisy’s laptop.

Iris stops time before using that laptop. She looked through the laptop; it didn’t take long for her to uncover what she sought. However, the revelation caused a burning sensation in her mind; Daisy’s father was her intended target.

This discovery proves that all her targets are connected to her.

’Why? Why are they all related to me?’ Iris struggled with that unsettling question.

...

’Iris, you need to hurry. There’s something odd about this Demon,’ Justin’s voice suddenly resonated in Iris’s mind.

Setting aside her curiosity, Iris teleported to Justin on the building rooftop.
