Chapter 193: This World is Not As Simple As You Imagine

Chapter 193: This World is Not As Simple As You Imagine

After Justin disappeared behind the door, Iris began discussing her next assignment, which never came.

Iris also expressed frustration because Gavriel had seldom contacted her lately. There were numerous things she wanted to ask Gavriel. However, his cell phone remained out of reach whenever she attempted to call him.

"I know you avoid me because I talk too much. Still, you must remember, Gavriel... you are my mentor!" she said casually, yet her words struck Gavriel’s mind like a blow.

Hearing her words, Gavriel could only bitterly laugh within himself.

"Blame your possessive husband! He’s the one who forbade me to contact you," Gavriel wanted to say, but he feared Xavier would scold him further. He pressed his lips, ignoring her protest.

However, he was also curious why Xavier suddenly summoned him to come to this place. When he inquired, Xavier simply mentioned that Iris wanted to talk with him. His curiosity grew when Xavier warned him not to take Iris out of the mansion a moment ago.

Initially, Gavriel was puzzled about why Xavier was so protective of Iris. But after hearing about recent events from Justin, he understood Xavier’s reasons: Demons and Dark witches were actively searching for her in the city.

This piqued his curiosity as to why she was being hunted down, especially since she had been killed before she transmigrated due to the actions of a demon.

Seeing her curious gaze fixed on him, Gavriel couldn’t resist explaining, "Iris, you know, I wasn’t involved in assigning your tasks, right?"

She nodded.

"I was only your mentor. It seems you’re already capable of handling your assignments solo, so I suppose... my role in assisting you with your next task is over. If you need information about your task, it’s better to talk to Lucian because he’s the one issuing your assignments," Gavriel revealed the truth.

Iris’s shoulders slumped upon hearing his explanation, particularly about Gavriel not accompanying her for her tasks. She knew this moment would arrive sooner or later, yet it felt too sudden for her.

"I know, Gavriel. Thank you for all your help," she said, smiling at him before adding, "But you once said I’d be busy with assignments in the future. Now, it feels like I’m jobless..." She took a deep breath.

"You should be grateful. You don’t have to be busy, right? You can spend your time at home with, ahem... your cold husband... I mean HOT husband," Gavriel teased, grinning as he noticed her blush, causing her to avert her gaze, avoiding eye contact.

Iris was left speechless. Why did he suddenly bring that up? Lately, she had avoided discussions about her relationship with Xavier, especially around Justin and Gavriel, who often teased her.

"Oh, right..." After a few moments of silence, Iris changed the subject. "Can you tell me about magic?"

Gavriel was slightly surprised that she was now asking him about this. "Why are you asking again? I already explained the basics to you."

"I know. But so much has happened to me lately, Gavriel. It makes me curious and eager to learn more."

"You can ask. I’ll answer what I can answer..." He said.

"Can humans like me learn magic?" Iris was eager to hear Gavriel’s answer. "And become powerful, like you or Xavier!?"

"Of course, you can," Gavriel smiled at her enthusiasm. "Look at you now... you’re a normal human, yet you can still do that. Even though you needed Lucian to awaken your power..."

She nodded in confirmation. Without Lucian, she’d never have accessed her mind control and teleportation abilities.

"But, will you become as powerful as those who originated from—" Gavriel paused, sensing that continuing might only confuse her further.

"Oh, please... just tell me what you want to say, Gavriel! Just so you know, I already heard your thoughts," she said, a faint smile flashing on her gaze.

Gavriel’s face darkened instantly upon hearing her words. "You could hear what I’m thinking even though I didn’t allow it?" He asked, bewildered and disbelieving that she could do so now.

’She’s just an ordinary human from the lower realms... but why is she so talented?’ he wondered, narrowing his eyes at Iris.

Amused, Iris laughed as she observed Gavriel’s shocked expression. She had merely tried to test him, as his expression suggested he was hiding something from her.

Gavriel couldn’t help but ponder for a moment. He realized how many things about her could surprise him. She was very different from the other students he taught.

If Iris is from the Middle Realm, she might be regarded as a genius among other witches. But she was not from there; she was just an ordinary human. Therefore, even if she were a genius, she’d never match those from that realm.

Gavriel heaved a deep sigh, sensing that he had no choice but to explain in more detail. If he didn’t do it now, Iris would persist with the same questions in the future.

"You will not be as powerful as me or Lord Xavier because we come from another world. And you know, we are just temporary visitors; we will not stay here forever, Iris..."

Iris felt her heart pound when she heard Gavriel’s words. It was the first time someone had so explicitly stated this to her. Typically, Gavriel and others would offer vague explanations about other worlds.

"So there’s another world besides this earth!?" she asked excitedly. "What do you guys call that world?"

Once again, Gavriel felt a reluctance to continue this conversation.

However, seeing Iris’s eager gaze fixed on him, Gavriel proceeded, "We refer to it as a lower realm. And, I come from a place called Middle Realm," he paused his words to see her expression before continuing. "This world is not as simple as you think, Iris..."

Iris appeared calm, but she was internally excited. She asked, "So, Xavier also came from there?"

Gavriel began to respond, but before he could answer, he heard Niles warning him in his mind, ’You might stop now, Gavriel!’

Instantly, Gavriel felt his thoughts freeze.

After a few seconds, he regained his composure. Looking at Iris, he stated firmly, "I’m sorry, I can’t discuss that. You should ask Lord Xavier directly!"
