Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife -
Chapter 189: Similar Woman
Chapter 189: Similar Woman
"Iris—" Suddenly, Xavier’s words faded as he heard the witch doctor’s inner thoughts.
A faint frown creased his forehead as he glanced at her.
’Wait for me outside. We’ll talk later,’ he communicated to the witch doctor through their mental connection before refocusing on Iris.
"Iris, do you want to stay here?" He asked, meeting her gloomy gaze. "Eric will be in this state for the time being. And I can’t tell when he’ll wake up..."
Her hand clenched into a fist upon hearing Xavier’s words. She couldn’t help but voice the pressing question on her mind, "Will his flesh heal? I mean... He won’t look like this forever, right?"
He slightly shook his head, "I need to speak with the doctor about that. Iris, do you want to wait here or join Justin and Niles in the living room?"
Xavier needed a private conversation with the doctor regarding Eric’s condition and her earlier thoughts.
Iris didn’t immediately respond but glanced at Eric’s on the bed. The sight of his face alone pained her heart, and the thought of seeing his body might be unbearable.
"I’ll wait for you outside," she finally said.
Before long, she joined Justin and Niles. They were surprised to see her entering the living room alone.
"Iris, you came alone?" Justin greeted her with a wave, inviting her to join them. Iris simply nodded upon seeing them but was taken aback when her gaze fell on Killian.
’So this man who sold the apartment for me?’ She wonders while remembering her conversation with Xavier.
Xavier had informed her that she had purchased her apartment through Killian. Still, it puzzled her because she had no memories of him. Hence, when she saw him for the first time, she didn’t recognize him.
’Why haven’t all my memories returned yet?’ she sighs silently while sitting beside Justin.
"Are you alright, Iris?" Niles asked. He only arrived in the city a few hours ago. He was surprised to learn about the incident at the Shadow Guild headquarters from Justin.
After hearing Justin’s story, he was even more amazed by this woman. She could have stopped time at a critical moment and saved them all, especially their senior brothers, Finn and Mikael. If she hadn’t done that, they might have perished in that powerful flame, and their lord might have wreaked havoc in this lower realm if she died.
"Thank you, Niles, for asking," Iris said, touched by Niles’s concern. "I’m fine..." She smiled at him, but her smile slowly faded a second later as she remembered Eric’s condition.
She turned to Justin, "Xavier said you were the one who brought Eric here?"
"Yes. Lord Xavier asked me to bring him here. Why?"
Iris had many questions she wanted to ask Justin about finding Eric, but she was unsure where to start.
After a few more seconds, she finally asked, "When you found him, was his condition that bad? Was there anyone around to guard him?"
Justin paused, pondering momentarily before explaining, "I didn’t see anyone there. I found him in a dire condition..." He paused for a moment, looking back at her gloomy gaze. "Iris, what you see inside is much better than when I found him—" He couldn’t finish his words, fearing that Iris would become even sadder.
She observed Justin’s silence and asked, "Where did you find him?"
"A few miles from the main building."
Iris recalled Uncle Vampire mentioning a powerful aura in that area.
’Are they the ones guarding Eric? And if so, why didn’t Justin see them?’ She pondered.
Before Iris could inquire further, Justin continued, "I remember... Upon my arrival, I witnessed several bloody scenes. I suspect Lord Xavier eliminated everyone in that location. That’s why I only found Eric," he explained.
Iris refrained from questioning him again.
At that moment, her mind struggled to understand why these Demons had captured and tortured Eric.
Was there any connection to their act of killing her? Why? Who? Countless questions swirled in her mind, but not a single answer emerged to satisfy her curiosity.

Meanwhile, in the library, Xavier sat on a leather sofa facing the female doctor who treated Eric—her name was Silvana.
"Tell me everything you know about her, Silvana..." Xavier fixed her with a sharp gaze, conveying a warning against holding back. He had no intention of forcibly delving into her memories, especially not with someone he trusted and was close to, like her.
Silvana was taken aback by his words. Previously, her mind only remembered memories when she saw the face of the woman in the treatment room.
"That woman..."
"Her name is Iris, and she is my legal wife..." Xavier stated.
Silvana was further shocked; it was the first time she had heard that Lord Xavier was married. And, he married a human girl—something she found hard to believe.
"Tell me, what do you know about her?" Xavier inquired. While he had already gleaned her thoughts, he sought additional information from her.
"Lady Iris’s face resembles someone I knew in the past," Silvana finally replied.
Xavier was surprised to hear this. "You mean... you’ve encountered someone resembling her in your realm?" he asked.
"Yes, Milord," Silvana said. Not only did they share a similar facial appearance, but they also shared the same name.
Xavier’s suspicions regarding Iris heightened. If she hailed from the middle realm, why had she descended to this place, too?
After a brief pause, he continued, "Many people share similar appearances, not just within this world but across other realms too. I thought she couldn’t possibly be the same person you saw there..."
"I know, Milord. I’ve often seen people with resembling faces during my time here. However, this was the first time I’ve witnessed and felt someone with a matching aura. Despite its faintness, I distinctly feel her aura..." Silvana explained.
Suddenly, Xavier felt a jolt through his body.
"Are you sure about this!?"
"Yes, Milord. This is the first time I’ve encountered an aura like that," Silvana confirmed. "But it’s impossible for them to be the same person because the woman from my realm died long ago..."
