Chapter 185: Do You Believe in Destiny!?

Chapter 185: Do You Believe in Destiny!?

Xavier silently took a deep sigh, trying to put aside that matter. He would investigate later. For now, the important thing was to leave this place.

He glanced at Justin and instructed him to do something for him. After Justin confirmed his order, he left.

Xavier turned to see Iris in his arms. Seeing her slightly red eyes, as if she were holding back tears, broke his heart. It was rare for him to see her cry. She had only cried a few times since they had been in a relationship.

He gently raised his hand and gently stroked her warm cheek before saying, "My Darling, you don’t have to worry about Finn and Mikael. They are powerful. They will not burn to ash, even if that fire swallows them..." He smiled to reassure her, although deep down, he felt awful about lying to her.

In truth, Finn and Mikael were severely injured. If Iris hadn’t stopped time, they would have turned to ash. They would heal, but it would take a long time, and perhaps they would not return to their former power.

"Alright, let’s go home. We can’t stay here for long."

Iris agreed with Xavier. They couldn’t stay here any longer. The big explosion would surely attract the authorities, and it would be troublesome if someone knew their presence in that place.

Xavier carried Iris in his arms, and in an instant, they appeared in the luxurious and spacious bedroom at Xavier’s penthouse, in the same building as Iris’ apartment.

When Iris opened her eyes, she was surprised to find herself in a new place. This wasn’t her apartment, and it certainly wasn’t his mansion.

"This place?" Iris turned her gaze to the vast window. She could see the colossal landmark tower in the middle of Orion City, standing majestically. "Huh!? Why does this view look familiar?"

Iris was puzzled because she usually saw this view from her bedroom door. She immediately asked Xavier to put her down. She walked toward the window and was surprised to see a small veranda like the one in her apartment.

She looked at him, who now stood beside her, "Xavier... Did you redesign my apartment?" She felt like it was in her apartment, but the furniture was too different.

Xavier didn’t answer her. Instead, he put his hand on Iris’s shoulder and pulled her close, then glanced back at the landmark tower of Orion City in the distance.

After a few seconds, he sensed that Iris was still looking at him, waiting for an answer.

"Iris, do you believe in destiny!?" He asked while meeting her curious gaze. Her brow furrowed slightly at his question.

"Why are you suddenly talking about destiny?" She asked, confused.

"I think God played a role in bringing us together, Iris."

Iris silently took a deep sigh. Hearing his answer made her even more confused. Why was he suddenly talking about God, about destiny?

"Mr. Darkwood, I didn’t know you now have a new hobby..."

"New hobby?" Xavier asked.

"Hmm, you have a new hobby: playing with words," She shook her head slowly. "Can you just spill it out!?"

Xavier chuckled as he ruffled her hair gently, "Darling, you bought an apartment in my building."

"WHAT!?" Iris was utterly shocked. "You mean, this five-story old building is yours?"

"Yes, this place is my building, Ms. Maxi Griffin. I usually stay here when I come to this Orion city." He explained.

...

Xavier found it amusing, recalling the information he received from Killian that he hadn’t sold this place to anyone, including Iris Gray.

However, when Killian investigated, what he found nearly drove him crazy. Maxi Griffin had bought the unit below, and the documents and signatures were confirmed.

When Killian reviewed the CCTV footage, he was even more shocked because Iris had come to this building to check the apartment, and he was the one who accompanied her at that time. However, he had no memories of meeting Iris at all.

Upon learning this, Xavier requested the CCTV footage from Killian. When he saw the CCTV footage, he was stunned because he immediately recognized that the person who pretended to be Killian was someone he had been searching for lately. Still, it seemed that person was avoiding him.

Up to this point, something troubled Xavier’s mind. He wanted to know why that person planned all of this.

Why did He help Iris buy a house in his building?

...

Iris was shocked entirely hearing that. Xavier was right. How could she buy his house when they had never met?

’This is indeed destiny...’

Now, countless questions filled her mind, and she couldn’t help but ask him, "Xavier, perhaps, in the past, did you know about me? Is that why you sent Killian to offer me the house below?"

Xavier ponders hearing her question. Since he first met Iris, he suspected God sent her for him. And after discovering that God was indeed involved in selling his house to Iris, he became convinced.

But now the question is, why did God do that?

He never remembered encountering Iris in the past. Why was God eager to make them meet!?

"Well, Iris... I’m not sure if we met in your previous life. But we never know... Maybe God was bored and wanted to play with our destiny." Xavier said casually.

Hearing his words, Iris felt her whole body shudder, imagining if what Xavier said was true: God was playing with their destiny.

Meanwhile, in a particular place,

A man wearing a black robe with intricate gold patterns on some parts stood by a window, casting his gaze at the lush green trees in the distance.

His face looked calm, but after hearing hurried footsteps approaching his room, his clear eyes turned from calm to tense.

"Your grace..." The man entering the room addressed the figure in the black robe, bowing his head and avoiding direct eye contact.

"Rise and speak," the figure commanded.

"I’ve received the news. Lady Iris has been sighted in Z Country."

"Is she still alive? How is this possible? Her demise was certain. Why does she reappear so fast!?" inquired the figure in the black robe.

"Your grace, I cannot say for certain. However, it seems Lady Iris has transmigrated into another body."

A subtle, sly grin graced the face of the man in the black robe. He hadn’t needed to wait until twenty-nine years to discern her location; merely a few months had elapsed before he found her once again.

"Has she managed to recall her past?"
