Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife -
Chapter 186: First Date
Chapter 186: First Date
At Orion City.
Xavier planned to take Iris for a walk to enjoy the city’s night view, knowing she was still heartbroken about the Shadow Guild incident.
"You look beautiful in that dress, Iris," Xavier smiled when he saw her following his suggestion, wearing a knee-length white dress under her long black coat. She looked stunning, with her beautiful gray hair flowing down her back.
Iris couldn’t help but shake her head upon hearing his praise.
"I feel odd in clothes like this, but at the same time, they’re surprisingly comfortable," she remarked while putting on her white sneakers. After getting ready, she grabbed her small saddlebag and glanced at him. "I’m ready, Milord," she said with a grin, noticing Xavier’s mesmerized gaze.
"Yes, Milady," Xavier replied; feeling happy looking, she finally smiled. He took her hand, and they teleported to the ground floor.
"Well, my man looks stunning tonight as well. It’s the first time I’ve seen you in different colors," Iris said, eyeing his pale blue shirt and khaki trousers.
Both of them chose to wear black coats. She wears her light black coat, while Xavier also wears his coat to cover up his colorful clothes.
Xavier’s expression stiffened upon hearing her words.
The girl had agreed to follow his request under the condition that she could also choose his attire. He had no choice but to comply with her wish.
"Are you sure you’ll wear that coat? It’s slightly warm outside," Xavier inquired once more before he opened the door.
"I have you, Mr. Darkwood. Have you forgotten your body enough to make me feel chill!?" Iris teased, a smile playing on her lips, causing Xavier to narrow his eyes as he looked at her.
"Oh, My darling Iris, were you trying to imagine me hugging you without my... clothes?" Xavier stated as he pulled her into his arms, not giving her a chance to respond. He lowered his head and kissed her alluring lips deeply.
As their lips parted, he stared at her beautiful gaze. He whispered, "We could cancel our plans tonight and head back to our bed... Are you willing?"
When he noticed her eyes flare and her face turned blush, he couldn’t help but laugh inwardly.
Iris lightly pushed his chest and stepped back a few steps.
"Let’s go, Milord," she said, opening the door, ignoring his playful tease.
Iris hurriedly walked away from Xavier, trying to calm her heart. She could feel how loud her heart was beating now.
’Gosh! Why is he suddenly talking about things like that?’ Iris scolded him in her heart while shaking her head; she tried to throw away the image of Xavier’s bare abs that lingered in her mind.
...
Their apartment in the city center is within walking distance of the Silver River that divides the city.
They walked along the wide pedestrian path leading to the river, passing numerous cafes, restaurants, and a famous brand boutique every few meters.
Despite the lateness of the hour, the street remained bustling with activity; many tourists and locals were still out, enjoying the summer evening. They shop, dine at fancy restaurants, or enjoy late-night coffee at cafes with friends.
Iris wasn’t used to this kind of lively city life. Even though she has an apartment near this busy road, she rarely leaves the house. All this time, she could only observe the beauty of the city night through the window.
But now. Because of Xavier, she can experience the normal life she once longed for. She felt excited, walking among the crowds with the person she loved.
She sensed Xavier’s presence behind her and slowed to match his step.
"Where are we headed, Xavier?" Iris asked.
"We’re having a date, my dear wife," Xavier replied, putting her hand in his coat pocket.
"Sounds lovely, my husband," she replied, returning his affectionate smile.
Iris feels excited that they finally have time to date like a normal couple. In District Six and Four, in Country K, they rarely walked in the street like now. Xavier always brings her to drive around the city or directly teleport to his beach house for their dating.
...
"Do you want to eat something?" Xavier asked as they passed by a fancy restaurant.
"No, I just want to walk and enjoy the night scenery," Iris replied. She was surprised to see the Silver River only a few meters away.
"Are you sure? It’s already past your dinner, Iris," Xavier said, a hint of worry in his voice.
"I’m not hungry right now. Besides, I want to eat your cooking..." She smiles.
"Okay, I’ll cook for you," Xavier agreed immediately. He felt guilty because they had both been busy dealing with numerous threats while in country K, and he rarely took her on vacation to their beach house, where he usually cooked for her.
Soon, they arrived at the river and walked alongside it, relishing the peaceful night.
However, Iris felt something strange when she noticed the place looked empty.
There wasn’t anyone in sight as far as her eyes could see. Even the yachts and boat cruises that usually cruised the Silver River for tourists to enjoy the city’s night lights had anchored in the middle of the river. It felt as if the area where they were walking belonged only to the two of them.
"Huh!? Did they all go home? Why is this place so empty?" she said, glancing around and checking her watch. "It’s only nine..."
"I manipulated their minds to go home or return to their hotels," Xavier said casually, spotting a garden bench. He pulled her to sit there.
Iris gasped in surprise at his words.
"Mr. Darkwood, you can’t do that next time," she said, staring thoughtfully into his eyes. "It’s okay if there’s anyone around us; I don’t mind..."
"Darling, I can hear their thoughts; almost all of them feel tired. And a few men also want to return to their hotels, you know, to do something with their partner..." Xavier’s voice trailed off as he saw her glare.
"Okay, my darling, I won’t do that again," he said with a grin.
