While Iris remained composed, the remaining three Demons were in shock after witnessing their comrade turn into ashes and their ally, the witch, die after his heart was ripped out. And the warning about the magic gun makes them even more unnerved.

They all stared in horror at the woman before them.

Before the two demons could manage their escape plan from the room, the Demon Eric ordered, ’Kill...her!’

The Demon knew he had no chance to escape because he sensed the powerful aura emanating from the pale man when he killed the dark witch. Eric’s plan was straightforward. He only needed to capture this girl; he sensed she was their leader and the weakest among them.

Swiftly, the Demon marched toward Iris.

Iris chuckled upon hearing his thoughts. ’You think you can capture me as you did before?’ she said, revealing her appearance.

The Demon suddenly froze, shocked to see Iris Gray alive before him.

’I-Iris Gray!? How could you...’ The Demon’s voice trailed off in shock. He urgently commanded his subordinate, ’Alert the master, now!’ But before they could react, gunshots rang out, and instantly, they both turned into ashes.

’What the fuck...’ He cursed Iris Gray inwardly, glaring at her.

"WAIT!!! Iris Gray! Don’t shoot... Please stop..." The Demon yelled, stalling to inform his master about this girl still alive. He presses something on his ring finger.

Iris paused but still aimed her gun at the man. "Don’t try to deceive me. I can predict your moves, Mr. Demon!"

The man silently cursed Iris. ’How could this woman know I’m a demon!? And why is she now more powerful than when I killed her a few months ago?’ he wondered.

"Mr. Demon, I can also hear your thoughts," Iris said, amused, observing the shocked Demon. "Who is your master? Why did he send you to kill me? I’ll let you go if you tell me..." She continues.

Iris was really curious as to why this Demon wanted to kill her. Who is behind her death?

The Demon’s lips formed a faint smile. Before Iris could press him to speak further, a fierce, murderous aura emerged as the Demon’s body glowed, advancing towards her.

’Justin, get Milady out of here!!’ Both middle-aged vampires appeared before Iris, shielding her from the Demon.

Everything happens too fast.

Iris’s eyes widened in shock upon hearing Uncle Vampire’s words as she realized the Demon intended to self-destruct to kill her.

’Damn!’ she cursed.

She never anticipated such a drastic move from the Demon.

Unable to teleport in time, the Demon’s explosion sent a wave of fire, throwing her backward as scorching heat enveloped her. She feels in horror when she witnesses Uncle Vampire burning in the flames.

"NOOO!" Iris cried out, feeling remorseful that both uncle vampires would sacrifice themself to protect her. She couldn’t allow it.

She snapped her fingers.

Instantly, time froze!

After gaining additional power levels from her third assignment, Iris didn’t know the extent of her time-controlling abilities. She only uses this ability to help them out from this explosion.

Thud!

Her body fell on the floor. Although she felt pain from the impact, she distracted her mind from the pain.

’Success!?’

Iris, glancing around. She saw the fire stop, Justin suspended mid-air, and the uncle vampire froze, their clothes partly burned.

Her heart trembled, but she composed herself, moving swiftly. Uncertain of how long she could maintain the time freeze.

She didn’t waste any time. Immediately teleporting to the vampire uncle and bringing them to Justin after he held them all, she closed her eyes and concentrated on teleporting outside.

BOOOM!

A thunderous blast echoed as Iris and the others landed half a mile from the exploding building.

Iris’s knee feels weak as she slams onto the ground, kneeling, her head hung low, attempting to calm her racing heart. The intense fear that had nearly engulfed her in that building still lingers within her.

"Thank you, God! We’re fine..." she quietly muttered. However, despite their escape from death, the people there—her old colleagues—became victims.

Looking at her guild, razed to the ground, broke her heart. She feels so sad. The place where she grew up vanished in just a few minutes.

Her two hands, clenched into tight fists, rested on the ground as she lowered her eyes, gazing at the earth beneath her. She couldn’t imagine how many lives were lost in that explosion.

When Iris tried to contain the nameless feeling inside her, she felt a chilling aura enveloping her. Before she knew it, she was already in Xavier’s embrace.

"X-Xavier..." She looked up to meet his eyes but was taken aback when she saw his crimson eyes and sensed his anger. However, she didn’t have time to dwell on it now.

"Please help Uncle Vampire. They both..." Iris turned her gaze to the ground, where the body of Uncle Vampire lay behind her. Yet, she found nothing there—only Justin, who now stood not far from them.

"Where are they?" Fear consumed her as she scanned her surroundings but couldn’t locate the two of them.

"They’re fine. They went back to their station to recuperate," Xavier explained calmly.

Iris’s worries slowly dissipated. At least they both are okay.

"Xavier, please ensure they both heal. If not for them, I might die..." Iris said, controlling her anger towards the Demon and herself. If she didn’t pursue the truth about her death, this wouldn’t happen.

It’s not just Iris who feels guilty; Xavier does too. He would never forgive himself if anything happened to Iris.

Earlier, his focus on what he discovers in the underground distracts him, causing him to forget to return to the main building faster than his plan.

When he hears the explosion, he realizes Iris is in danger. Upon rushing back, he witnesses the building turned to ash as hell’s fire incinerated everything instantly.

Xavier recognized the fire. Only one person can wield that fire, and that person already dies in his hand.

But why does the fire appear in the lower realm?

He silently took a deep sigh, trying to put aside that matter.
