Chapter 177: The Dark Wizard Allies with the Demon

Iris immediately took her cell phone and checked the distance between this place and her apartment. After inputting the address into the maps tracker, she was stunned to see how close this place was to her house.

"This is so close to my house," her smile grew wider as she looked back at Xavier. "I guess I could teleport there."

"How many miles?" After completing her third task, he knew Iris had improved her teleportation and mind control abilities. Still, he had never seen the full extent of her power. She had never shown it to him.

"Almost five," she smiled proudly. "You know that my maximum distance was previously two miles, right?"

He smiled back at her while nodding, confirming her question.

"Well, now... I can teleport up to five miles. This is awesome; I could go even further." She was excited. "And, I guess I can bring someone with me too."

"Really? That’s great to hear... Alright, try to take me to your house now," Xavier said, standing up. He extended his hand to Iris.

"That’s a great idea to try," She held Xavier’s hand while attempting to concentrate on teleporting to her house, but after her attempt, nothing happened. They remained in the same place. "I can’t!" She was surprised to discover that she still couldn’t bring someone.

"Apologies, my lady... there’s a shield in this house. No one can be teleported from here, including you," Xavier smiled. "Let’s go outside and try."

They both went outside. Iris tried again to bring Xavier to her house, but the result remained unchanged. They were still standing in the same place with no change.

She smiled awkwardly at him, "Looks like I still haven’t mastered this skill."

Xavier patted her head gently. "It’s okay. You still have plenty of time to develop that power. Now, you can go back there, and I will follow you," he said.

"You can do that!?"

"Hmm, I can sense your aura whenever you are within a certain distance," he explained.

"That’s good then," she smiled at him. "Come find me, Mr. Darkwood..." She vanished.

Before Xavier could follow Iris, Justin stopped him.

"Milord, I need to report to you about Eric," Justin walked towards him. "I visited their guild, but the person who manages it had Eric’s face, but he wasn’t..."

Xavier’s face darkened upon hearing Justin’s words. He rubbed his eyebrow slightly. "Is that person a Demon?"

Justin shook his head. "No, but that person has an aura of Dark Magic. A very strong one..."

"How strong?" Xavier became increasingly concerned because this powerful Demon collaborated with a Dark Wizard.

"The barrier was strong enough to push me back several meters when I tried to enter," Justin said with a bitter smile as he remembered the experience.

Xavier was surprised because he knew Justin’s magic was quite strong, even though he was the weakest among them.

"And when they noticed our presence, we decided to withdraw," Justin continued.

"You made the right choice," Xavier nodded. "There’s no need to go there anymore. I’ll check it myself. You stay here; I might need your help."

"Milord, I’m worried about Lady Iris if she stays here. We still don’t know her enemy, and I’m afraid they could sense her presence—" Justin’s voice trailed off when Xavier raised his hand to stop him from speaking.

"I know," he said and vanished. When he arrived at Iris’s apartment, he was surprised to see the familiar scenery outside.

’Why is this scenery the same as my penthouse?’ He walked toward the window and was astonished to realize that this building was his apartment building. ’Did she buy this place? How is that possible?’

Xavier was utterly shocked. How could such a coincidence happen? Iris had even purchased a house on his property, the place he usually used when he came to Orion City, and what he knew was that this place was not sold. He already mentioned that to Killian.

...

"Oh, Xavier... You’ve finally arrived. I thought you were lost," Iris’s voice could be heard from behind, making Xavier turn to see her.

"I talked to Justin before I came here," Xavier replied calmly, even though he was still shocked knowing they lived in the same building. "Is everything alright here?" he asked while looking around.

He found nothing in the vast living room, just a set of sofas still covered with white linen and a few modern paintings hanging on the white walls.

"Everything is alright, but as you can see, this house is still empty..." She sighed faintly before explaining that she had bought this place three weeks before Eric killed her.

During three weeks, she had barely finished purchasing a few things for her bedroom and kitchen.

"I’m not living here, but I’ve decided to use this place as my hiding spot when I retire. That’s why I haven’t yet finished furnishing this place, except for a few rooms. But, my priority was setting up my computer room." Her eyes were shining as she talked about her computer room.

"Follow me, and I will show you..." She said excitedly.

"Computer room?"

"Hmm, well... Even though I’m not a professional hacker, I have a peculiar hobby," she said and opened the door.

Xavier was stunned when he saw the room. It featured a long table in the center with five flat monitor lines and a commanding chair in the middle.

What surprised him the most was the wall in front of the commanding chair, filled with numerous monitors attached to the wall, each displaying different locations. He felt like he was in a traffic control room.

"You indeed have a unique hobby, Iris..." He chuckled as he glanced at her. "So, you can hack the city’s CCTV, and are all these images live streaming?"

Iris felt embarrassed to show this room to him. She felt like a criminal because of having such a control room.

She could access anything in this country, not just in this city. Having this control room, she felt like she owned the entire country.
