Iris felt embarrassed to show this room to him. She felt like a criminal because of having such a control room.

She could access anything in this country, not just in this city. Having this control room, she felt like she owned the entire country.

What was in this room was her new toy. She had finished setting everything here only a few days before her last assignment, and she never imagined that her final assignment would involve her becoming a target.

If only God hadn’t granted her a second chance, she would never return to this place.

Back in this room, she feels much more alive.

"Yes, live streaming from various locations," she said and sat on the chair.

Xavier didn’t say anything but stood behind her. He watched her immersed in typing something on her keyboard. He knew what she was doing but kept silent and watched as she hacked the database of this country’s population data center.

"You can sit on the sofa in the corner, Xavier," Iris said without looking at him, as her eyes focused on the monitor.

"Don’t mind me," Xavier said while patting her shoulder gently before walking toward the sofa. "You can continue to search for him..." he said calmly.

At this moment, Xavier didn’t want to inform her about the information he got about Eric. He was curious to know how fast she searched using her advanced computer.

"Did you ever suspect Eric didn’t use his real face or identity?" Xavier said as he sat on the sofa.

"No. He never lied to me about that. Besides, he is the one who picked me up from the orphanage. He is like my older brother, my father," she explained.

"I see," he silently nodded, agreeing with her. Indeed, Eric didn’t lie to her about his true identity. But this girl didn’t know that the Eric who killed her was not Eric himself, but the Demon.

Just before Xavier wanted to close his eyes, he heard Iris shout.

"ERIC HESTER!" Iris’s cold voice echoed in the room, surprising Xavier.

"You found him already?" he asked, glancing at the watch. Not even ten minutes had passed, but this girl had already found that person using only a picture. How amazing!

"Hmm, his name is Eric Hester," Iris glanced at Xavier, who now stood beside her, looking at the monitor.

"He is a businessman, but only a few people know he is the founder of the Assassin Guild named Shadow. My guild!"

A relieved smile appeared in Iris’s eyes. After so many months, she could only feel the heavy burden on her shoulders slowly lifting.

Iris no longer felt like life in the darkness, curious about the identity who killed her. Now, she only needs to visit him and find out why he took her life. After she gets what she needs, she will send him to the hell door, whatever reason he gives!

"Xavier, I want to go to Shadow..." Iris rose from her seat and stood before Xavier. "I will never sleep peacefully if I can’t get revenge on him."

He didn’t rush to answer her. But he held her hand to try to calm her raging heart.

Iris continued, "Shadow headquarters is located in another city. I need your help to take me there..."

Xavier could see fire dancing in her gaze; she was furious, and he could understand her.

He led her to sit on the sofa. It’s time to explain to her what happened.

"Iris, before we go there, I need to tell you something important..." He paused while taking her warm hand and squeezing it gently. When he saw her confused gaze, he continued. "This is about Eric Hester."

She straightened her back, looking at how serious Xavier was. "Yes, what do you want to tell me about... Wait, how do you know..." Her voice trailed off as she realized something.

How could he know about Eric!? She just told him a few seconds ago!?

A thin line appeared on her forehead as she said, "You already know about him? Since when?"

Xavier told her everything about how he obtained Eric Hester’s profile.

However, when he saw her glare at him as if she were scolding him with her eyes, he hurriedly continued, "I tried to help you, but you refused. You said you wanted to look for yourself..."

Iris opened her mouth a few times, but her words somehow vanished. She was rendered speechless.

"Iris, darling, please don’t be mad at me!" Xavier tried to tease her playfully. "I will accept any punishment because I kept this information from you. Well, you could punish me as I usually punish you... How?" His eyes beaming, looking at her.

Iris, "..."

’Heaven! How could he ask for a kiss in this kind of situation? How shameless.’ She scolded him in her mind.

She diverted their conversation, didn’t want to fall into his trap, "Xavier, you said there’s something important about Eric you wanted to tell me? What is it?" She asked while holding her laughter when she saw his upset expression.

After hearing her question, Xavier’s expression slowly changes to tense, "Iris, the person who killed you is not Eric Hester... But a demon who changes his face, same as Eric."

"W-What!?" Just as thunder struck her, Iris felt her body burn. She gripped Xavier’s hand hard. "Xavier, please repeat what you said!?"

"Eric Hester was not your killer, but a demon..." Xavier patiently repeated his explanation after seeing how confused she looked.

Iris was utterly shocked by this sudden change.

If she had never met Xavier, Gavriel, Lucian, and Demoness, she might not believe what Xavier said now.

However, she immediately believed it because she had already encountered Demon. She had even killed that Demoness.

But now...

Countless questions filled her mind.

Why did Demon want her life?

Did some of her enemies send the Demon to kill her?

A strange twist. When she had hated Eric so much in her heart, leaving no good impression, now she had to accept that the man was innocent. He wasn’t the one who killed her.

Relieved? Obviously. She was relieved that she didn’t have to kill the man she considered like her own family.
