Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife -
Chapter 172: Weird Dream
Chapter 172: Weird Dream
Xavier starts to grow bored of watching zombies being killed on the screen.
It’s been almost two hours, and this girl is still completely absorbed in the movie.
Xavier glanced at her, lying on the couch with her head in his lap. He tried to distract her, playing with her hair. However, Iris continued to ignore him.
Even when he tries to rub her cherry-red lips to seduce her, she only flinches slightly while glaring at him. Still, a second later, her eyes refocus on the screen.
Xavier can only follow her gaze on the television. He saw humans rampage, killing all the zombies, making him speechless.
’What a trash movie!’ Xavier shook his head. He turned his gaze to Iris and was surprised to see her finally paying attention to him.
"Xavier, you’ve lived on this earth for so long. Have you ever crossed paths with such creatures?" Iris asks as she raises and sits up straight, facing him.
He didn’t want to answer her but got closer to her face and gave her a quick kiss to tease her because she made him watch a dull movie. He prefers watching a romantic movie.
"Mr. Darkwood, can you stop kissing me when we’re having a serious conversation?"
"Darling, this is your punishment..."
"Huh!?" Iris was speechless. "How could I be punished when I haven’t done anything wrong?" She pouts.
Xavier smiles, looking at how adorable she looks while pouting like that.
"Iris, did you issue a silent invitation for me to kiss you again? If yes, well... this time I shall grant you more than just a peck on the lips, but—" his words fade when he sees her vanish from the sofa. He can feel her presence in the bedroom.
Xavier also disappears; he appears right in front of her. He didn’t want to see her run again. He stopped time, leaving Iris frozen before him — her eyes wide in shock as she stared at him.
A faint smile appears in his eyes as he places his hand on her waist. Make sure she is in his arms before resuming time.
...
Iris was stunned, looking at Xavier. Her alluring blue eyes flicker to meet his gaze. Before saying anything, she could feel his cold hand rubbing the tip of her nose.
"Don’t ever vanish from my sight again, My Lady..." Xavier said. In his gentle but sounds like order in Iris’s ears.
Iris didn’t know how to respond to him. Earlier, she had run from him because she feared he would kiss her again. She doesn’t hate his kiss but feels something unusual inside her, a strange sensation that always arises when he touches her. That’s why she avoids him.
"Xavier... I’m sleepy. Can I sleep now?"
Just like that, Xavier doesn’t tease her further. He allows her to freshen up and sleep.
However, as Iris was about to sleep, a strange dream she had experienced earlier suddenly came to mind.
The dream felt real as if she was present at that place. Strangely enough, she had never been to that location before. She was sure she had never seen it in her past life, her current one, or in the memories of young Iris.
What puzzled her even more was the presence of a strange man in her dream. Although the man’s face was not clearly visible, his voice and the way he spoke sounded peculiar to her. He addressed her as though he were talking to a noble, and his clothing also appeared unfamiliar — The man wore a black robe with gold patterns on some parts.
How weird!
Iris remembers even Xavier, who had lived on this earth for a long time, had never spoken to her in that manner; he always used the same tone and intonation as she did.
’Who is that man?’ She wondered to herself while trying to recollect any memories of him. But she couldn’t remember anything.
’Am I dreaming about the movie I watched in the past?’ Iris wondered. However, she quickly dismissed that idea because she never liked historical movies involving the royal family. She preferred zombies or war films.
Not wanting to strain her brain, she tried to push thoughts of the strange dream aside.
"You said you were sleepy, but why aren’t you asleep yet?" Xavier’s voice came from above Iris’ head as she lay in his arms.
"I—" Iris’s voice trailed off. She decided not to tell him. It seemed pointless to talk to him about the dream; he would likely think it was just a random dream.
"You’re not sleepy yet? Would you like to go for a walk outside?" he offered.
"No, I’ll try to sleep..." She said, closed her eyes again, and cleared her mind. However, a voice echoed in her mind after just a few minutes of trying to sleep. It was her own voice...
’I will never forgive you, Eric! Not in this life nor the next. If God grants me another chance at life, I will hunt you down and drag you to hell!’
"Eric!" Without her realizing it, Iris shouted that name. The moment she said the name, she felt her heartache, like a thousand needles stabbing her heart. It made her blood boil as anger took over her.
Memories of Eric killing her on a snowy mountain came flooding back into her mind.
’It was him! Eric, the person who took my life...’ Iris sat up abruptly, gripping her hair as if she wanted to wrack her brain so that all her memories of that man would return. She vowed to take his life and cast it at the gates of hell.
...
Xavier was stunned when he saw Iris suddenly sit up. He joined her, sitting beside her. He couldn’t help but ask, "Who is Eric?"
Iris slowly lifted her head and met Xavier’s worried gaze. She held his cold hand and said, "Xavier, that man... the one who killed me. His name is Eric," her voice shook.
"Has your memory returned?" Xavier asked again. "Let’s go and punish him! This man should never exist on this lovely earth."
