Justin remained confused hearing Xavier’s sudden order. But he didn’t say anything. He could only question Xavier’s decision.

"Yes, Iris. Lord Xavier hasn’t disclosed anything to me," Justin added. His unease grew as he worried Iris might use her mental ability to read and influence his thoughts.

Iris couldn’t help but laugh secretly when she saw Justin looking at her in awe; she was a little embarrassed by it.

"Well, I’m not as powerful as Xavier. His abilities surpass mine," she explained.

Justin was momentarily at a loss for words to respond. Just as he was about to say something, he suddenly stood up when he heard Xavier instruct him to leave.

"M-Milord... I have some urgent matters to attend to," he stammered, bowing his head, and quickly reached the door after excusing himself to Iris.

Iris couldn’t help but laugh inwardly when she saw Justin rushing towards the door as if frightened by something. After seeing Justin vanish behind the door, she turned her gaze to Xavier.

"Why did you ask him to leave?" Iris could guess it was Xavier who forced him to leave.

"He’s too loud. I can’t tolerate his overly cheerful attitude." Xavier explained, gently running his fingers through her soft hair. "So, what assignment have you received this time?" he asked further.

Xavier had been eager to discover her next task since earlier, growing concerned when he noticed her expression turn serious.

Iris didn’t answer immediately but let out a deep sigh. "I can’t believe Lucian assigned me to eliminate the mafia lord in District Five..."

She was well aware of the difficulty in approaching the Mafia Leader. Because many talented bodyguards surrounded them, it would be troublesome if she had to kill them all.

Iris prefers to kill corrupt state officials. They are effortless to approach.

"Why are you so worried?" Xavier frowned as he read the target’s details from her invisible device.

"I know. But I found some strange records there. It shows that supernatural powers protect this mafia leader—" Iris’s voice trailed off, her concern growing as she considered that her target might not be entirely human.

"That’s why I sent Justin to protect you. Plus... Gavriel will be accompanying you. So, don’t worry too much," Xavier reassured her, gently caressing her cheek. He leaned closer to her, their lips meeting in a tender kiss.

Iris was left momentarily speechless. This was one of the changes she had noticed in Xavier since they had moved into this house; he was increasingly open with his affections.

She shook her head, attempting to divert her thoughts from their recent intimate moments and refocus on her assignment.

Now, Iris understood why Xavier insisted on sending Justin as her protector. He must have foreseen such a situation; she will have a non-human target.

Even though she knows her new powers and the unique abilities that only superhumans possess, she remains worried about having met other strange creatures, such as female vampires.

"Xavier... Perhaps you know what kind of creature is guarding this mafia leader?" Iris asked, eager to be well-prepared.

Iris was utterly stunned by his words. She swallowed silently. Her voice trembled as she asked, "D-Devils?"

Xavier nodded slowly. He continued, "And maybe also Dark Witches or Vampires... I can’t be sure what creatures you will face this time."
