Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife
Chapter 155: He Is My Best Friend

Chapter 155: He Is My Best Friend

"Iris, you can talk to them later," Xavier’s cold voice suddenly came from behind. "You need to eat first," he said, pulling out a chair for her.

Iris nodded.

She sat down. Only then did she realize that there was only one serving on the table, only for her.

While Xavier was sitting at the end of the table beside her, she noticed a glass of red wine before him. Iris could guess that it must be blood.

’Did he drink human blood?’ She wonders. Suddenly, she feels her throat go dry. She silently gulped. Knowing that vampires only drank human blood somehow made her shiver, and her hands grew cold.

She shook her head slightly, trying to distract her mind while looking at the delicious food before her. Without being asked, she began eating.

However, her curiosity won.

After she finished her meal, she looked at Xavier, who was also looking at her. However, before she could ask, Xavier spoke.

"Is the food not delicious?" He worriedly asked, noticing that Iris wasn’t eating as usual, even though he knew she was hungry.

"It’s delicious," she answered with a smile.

"Do you want more? Wait..." Before Iris could respond, Xavier had already asked someone to bring additional food for her.

"No, this is enough—"

"You need to eat more, Iris. You look skinny now," Xavier insisted.

Later, the usually invisible maid entered the dining room with additional food for her.

Iris couldn’t help but be slightly surprised when she looked at the two middle-aged females. They looked graceful and beautiful, like the Latin women she usually saw in movies. This was the first time she had seen them during her stay in this house.

Until now, she had only seen Xavier, Niles, and Justin, but she knew there were other people; they only appeared when she wasn’t around.

"Enjoy your meal, my lady," they smiled at her, nodded, and bowed slightly before leaving the room.

"Thank you," Iris replied.

After she saw the two females leave the room, she asked Xavier, "Are they...?"

"Hmm, they are. But you don’t need to worry about them. Everyone in this house is vegetarian. They have zero interest in human blood." Xavier casually said, but Iris was slightly surprised to hear that.

"Vegetarian? So you guys don’t drink human blood?" She asked, glancing at the wine bottle in front of him, which the waiter had just served him.

Xavier nodded slightly as he poured the beast’s blood into a wine glass.

"This is beast blood. All vampires who follow me only drink this," he explained before sipping his wine-blood beast.

For some unknown reason, Iris felt relieved to hear that Xavier and the others did not drink human blood. She couldn’t imagine kissing a man who drank human blood. Just imagining it made her nauseous.

...

Before long, Iris finally finished her meal and dessert. She felt her energy returning.

She looked around to find that Justin and Niles were no longer in the room.

"Xavier, I hope you didn’t say anything to Justin and Niles about me transmigrating into this young girl’s body. And also, about my involvement with—" She paused, still doubting whether Xavier knew about GH.

What she knew was that Xavier knew Gavriel and that she had an invisible cell phone.

Xavier calmly said. "You mean God Helper?"

"So, you know. How do you know about it? Did you also find out from Gavriel?" Iris was curious to know about this. How could this man know about her identity so precisely?

"I didn’t learn it from him," Xavier said, shaking his head. "But I know from your boss."

Iris’s eyes widened in surprise. "Y-You mean, Lucian? You also know him?" She asked in shock.

"Yes, I know Lucian. He’s my best friend. So, I knew who you were when I met him on your first assignment."

Suddenly, Iris could feel her heart sinking, realizing that Xavier had known about her identity from the beginning.

’Gosh! So, all this time, he was pretending? Why?’

"That night at that Alber—"

"Wait..." Iris couldn’t help but interrupt him. "Xavier, let’s go upstairs and chat. Many things... I want to ask you. Oh my gosh, this is all overwhelming me!"

Xavier stood up from his seat and stretched his hand to Iris, but she rejected him.

"I want to do that by myself..." She said,

"They’ll know who you are if you do that. Besides, you can’t teleport on this floor. You can only do that on the third floor."

Even though his words confused her, she didn’t say anything else because what he said was indeed true—Justin and Niles would discover her if they saw her teleport.

Iris immediately accepted his hand, and they returned to the third floor, to her bedroom.

Xavier walked to the seating area and sat there, looking at Iris, who stood near the window as if deep in thought.

He continued, "I shield this house, preventing others from teleporting inside the house. Inside the house, only you and I can do that. But, you can only do it on this floor..."

"No wonder," Iris smiled faintly. Finally, she had an answer to the question that had bothered her for so long.

"Iris, come here," Xavier called her. "Sit beside me and talk." He knew she still had many doubts.

After Iris sat down with him, he continued, "Is there anything else you want to ask?"

Iris looked at him with mixed emotions. So many questions filled her mind, but she was unsure what to ask first.

After a moment of silence, she finally said, "Lucian, how do you know him? Did he say something about my past life?"

This is what Iris wants to know about her lost memories. She hoped to get new clues about who killed her and the name of her assassin’s guild.

Xavier’s eyebrows rose slightly at her question. He was surprised to hear that this girl didn’t remember her past.

"You lost your memories!?" Xavier asked.

"Hmm," Iris faintly sighed, feeling helpless. "I’ve completely forgotten half of my memories..."
