Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife
Chapter 152: The Truth (3)

Chapter 152: The Truth (3)

"Well, I know from your... cousin—" Xavier playfully smiled at her.

’Damn you, Gavriel!!’ She can’t help but curse Gavriel in her heart for exposing her.

"And what I heard, that man, not really your cousin..." Xavier continued to expose her. It was fun to see her shocked expression, like now, she looks so cute.

Iris, however, felt as if lightning had struck her. She could only respond with a forced smile. She felt so embarrassed because Xavier knew she was lying.

She seemed to no longer hide her status from him; he already knew her identity. The question that lingered was how much he knew.

"Xavier, can you read Gavriel’s mind?" she asked curiously.

Iris was confident that Gavriel would never reveal her identity to anyone unless Xavier intimidated or read his mind. She also harbored suspicions that Xavier was much stronger than Gavriel.

She could feel it.

Xavier didn’t provide a direct answer, but the smile in his eyes conveyed the response to Iris.

Her hands suddenly grew cold. If he could read Gavriel’s mind, attempting to hide anything from him seemed futile. He must know her identity as an assassin and a God Helper.

Staring directly into his eyes, she asked, "How much do you know about me?" Depending on his answer, she would consider revealing everything to him.

When Xavier’s face drew nearer, and he gently placed his hand on her chin, Iris appeared tense. She didn’t avoid him. Even though she felt incredibly nervous because this was the first time they had been this close after she learned he was not human but a vampire.

She could feel his cold breath brushing her face, making her heart beat faster.

Before Iris could say anything, Xavier gave her a gentle kiss on the lips. After kissing her warm lips, he didn’t rush to pull away his face but enjoyed admiring her beauty.

After he saw her face turn to blush, he said, "Iris, don’t worry. Regardless of who you are or what you do, I don’t mind. There’s no need to fear being honest with me," his voice was soothing, offering Iris a sense of relief. "Perhaps I can assist you with your assignment if you require help."

"So you do know," Iris whispered, avoiding his golden eyes. "Well, I’m not sure where to begin, but you’re right—I’m not Iris Gray, the little girl who lives in this town."

A silence hung in the air as Iris struggled to find the right words to say. While Xavier patiently waited, eager to hear what she had to say.

After a few moments had passed, Iris let out a deep sigh and then slowly met his gaze. "Xavier, let’s properly introduce ourselves," a smile appeared on her lips as she noticed he nodded. He was confirming her words.

She extended her hand for a handshake. "Interestingly enough, I have the same name as the young Iris... and we share identical features, with the only difference being our hair style and color."

Xavier listened in silence, feeling proud of her for revealing the truth. He was aware of her connection to GH. Still, he remained unaware of her true identity and her transmigration circumstances.

He felt excited about knowing something about Iris’ past, but Iris didn’t share the same enthusiasm. Suddenly, she felt goosebumps when she realized that Xavier was not the teenager she thought.

Her knowledge from movies told her that vampires were immortal and did not age or die naturally like humans.

’How old are you, Xavier? You must be older, right?’ she wondered with curiosity.

"I’m ten years older than young Iris. If you can access Gavriel’s memories, I believe you know how I died and transmigrated into this body and the rest..." she stopped speaking, knowing that Xavier already knew about her involvement with GH.

"Thanks for telling me that, Iris. My name is Xavier Darkwood. You don’t need to know my real age. However, my body has stopped growing at the same age as yours. We are 19 years old. And the rest, you know..." He smiled at her.

Iris could only smile back at him, but soon, her smile vanished when she realized something, "Xavier, so Justin and Niles are also the same as you?"

"Hmm, they are also like me. They are not my cousins, they are my, well, you know... They are helping me to take care of everything."

"They are your trusted people?"

"Yes, you can call them that. They have been following me for a long time. So, I trust them..." He explained.

Iris feels like she wants to hide somewhere. She was too embarrassed because all this time, she always thought Justin was weak. But it turns out he is an immortal being.

"No wonder I can’t read their minds and feel their emotions..." Iris mumbled, but Xavier could hear her. He is suddenly curious about something.

"So, your ability is a mind reader? What can you do besides that?" Xavier asked casually.

"Same as you, I can also teleport. However, I’m still a beginner, so the distance I teleport isn’t that far," Iris explained shyly. "And it seems like I can’t take anyone else with me yet while doing that..." She feels jealous because Gavriel can teleport with his car. And Xavier also could teleport while carrying her.

"I see. Is there anything else?" He asked curiously what ability and power Lucian gave her.

"I Just have two abilities," Iris says.

"You can check now. I could sense your strength is slightly different from before your accident, and your ability also increases."

Iris was confused.

"I don’t know how to check!?"

Xavier feels amused but, at the same time, also annoyed with Gavriel. What did he teach Iris? Why didn’t she know how to check her ability and power?

"You can close your eyes and feel something different inside you. As for your abilities, maybe you can check them on your invisible phone."

Iris fell silent.

"You... Also, know about that?" She narrowed her eyes at him.
