Chapter 151: The Truth (2)
Chapter 151: The Truth (2)
Iris’ eyes are straight looking into his eyes, thrilled to hear his answer.
However, Xavier didn’t rush to answer her. Instead, he asked, "How do you know about an Angel?" while placing her sitting beside him.
Xavier’s question clearly caused Iris to blame herself again for revealing too much about what she knew.
She opened her mouth several times, but no words came out, as if all the words in her mind had betrayed her.
Looking as though she was clueless, Xavier chuckled and continued, saying, "Well, I’m not an angel. But, I’m not human either..."
Once again, Iris felt her heart drop slightly.
Countless questions were now dancing in her mind, ’Xavier was neither an angel nor a human!? And he can teleport. I also can’t hear his thoughts; his mental strength is greater than mine. Who is he?’
She stared intently into his eyes, trying to figure out what was odd about him.
It didn’t take long. Instantly, the fog in her mind slowly cleared, and everything she saw in Xavier and around him became clearer: his pale face, his cold body temperature, and as she remembered, she rarely saw him eat with her. The most important of all his peculiar traits is that he can kill female vampires.
Iris’ hands suddenly clenched into fists, realizing who he was. But her voice faded when she tried to ask him to confirm her doubts.
She couldn’t utter a single word.
Xavier raised his hand to touch her cheek, which looked pale, and then his hand fell to her lips, which looked red and seductive. It made him want to kiss her again, but he restrained himself. He needed to tell her the truth about his identity.
After satisfying his eyes, looking at her lips, his gaze slowly rose to meet her eyes.
"Iris, can you guess who I am?" He asked.
She nodded slowly.
A smile appeared on Xavier’s face. "Are you afraid of me, Iris Gray?" His voice sounded relaxed, but it carried a warning to Iris’ ears.
Right now, Iris didn’t know how to answer his question. She was still too shocked to discover that her fiancé, the man she loved, was a vampire.
How could she possibly be related to a vampire? A creature whose only instinct is to kill humans!? Afraid? Of course, she was scared.
And now, so many questions popped up in her mind. Why did Xavier approach her? Did he do it to suck her blood?
No, that seemed impossible, right?
If Xavier wanted to do that, he didn’t need to propose to her. He could have killed her the first time they met.
Thinking Xavier sucks her blood enough to make her nervous. She silently gulped, trying to wet her dry throat.
"Silence means ’Yes!’" He said softly.
Suddenly, Xavier’s expression turned gloomy as he turned to the window, looking at the dark sky outside.
He felt disappointed that what Lucian said was indeed true. Iris would stop loving him and probably run away from him. No human had ever had a relationship with a vampire like him, a predator with an instinct to kill.
...
Still lost in her deep thoughts, Iris was taken aback when she saw Xavier looking sad and disappointed.
"Xavier," she calls him while putting her hand on his cold face to make him look at her. "Why do you always jump to conclusions? I didn’t say anything; that doesn’t mean I said ’Yes!’" she scolded him.
Seeing his golden eyes waver, she continued, "I’m not afraid of knowing your identity because I know you will kill me immediately if you are not sincere with your heart."
Xavier didn’t say anything, just looked at her expressionlessly.
She added, "But what confuses me is... Why did you choose me? I’m human, and you have many options—beautiful and stronger female vampires out there." She swallowed silently as she considered many vampires living among them on Earth.
At the same time, Iris was also amazed by her courage because she dared to speak so straightforwardly to this handsome vampire.
Xavier smiled when he heard her last words. "So you’re not afraid of me?"
"You want to hear an honest answer?" She asked. He nodded.
"I am scared, but only a little. Because I know how sincere your heart is..."
Xavier nodded in agreement with her. It was only natural for her to feel scared. He slowly raised his hand and gently rubbed her flushed cheek.
"My darling Iris Gray, does there have to be a special reason for me to love you?" Xavier asked.
Iris was rendered speechless. Why did this man ask her again? He was supposed to answer me. Gosh!
When she was about to say something, she heard Xavier continue his words, "Iris, you are indeed human, but you know clearly that you are a special human." He deliberately paused, wanting to see her shocked expression. It was fun to see her, like now.
"Am I right?" Xavier asked again when he didn’t hear Iris say anything. She remained silent and attempted to avert her gaze. However, Xavier didn’t allow her to ignore his gaze.
"Iris, you know the answer," he said again.
Iris was puzzled.
’Why does Xavier know about me? Did he realize I’m someone else, not the young Iris?’ She wonders.
"What do you mean, Xavier? I mean, I’m special in your eyes, right?" Iris asked to confirm that this man didn’t know her true identity.
"You are not the Iris Gray I knew a few months ago. You are different..."
She swallowed, shocked by his words. ’So, he knows?’
"You don’t need to be surprised and afraid, Iris. I know who you are..." Xavier smiled gently at her. "I know you have been reborn into this little girl’s body."
’He knows!?’ Iris still doubted him.
Iris maintained her smile but tried to hide how shocked she was now.
"How do you know? Is it too obvious to you that I’m someone else?"
"Well, I know from your cousin—" Xavier playfully smiled at her.
’Damn you, Gavriel!!’ She can’t help but curse Gavriel in her heart for exposing her.
