Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife
Chapter 150: The Truth (1)

Chapter 150: The Truth (1)

"Xavier, how long did I sleep?" Iris asked, afraid she might have been in a coma.

She didn’t feel any pain in her body. It was as if the incident in the forest had never happened.

Xavier smoothed her hair, which covered part of her face, and gently rubbed her fair, smooth skin with his thumb. Feeling her once more made him feel like the luckiest man on earth. This little girl, how could she stir his heart like this?

He gently smiled at her before saying, "Three days?"

Iris suddenly got up and sat facing Xavier.

"I-Impossible. If it’s only been three days, how can I recover so quickly—" Her voice faded as she peered at her body from the neckline of her nightgown. She gasped in surprise, looking at how smooth her skin was.

"This? How could this happen? I don’t even have a scar on my skin." She looked at Xavier with a confused gaze.

However, a second later, something crossed her mind when she realized something.

Without knowing, she grabbed Xavier’s cold hand. "Xavier, how did you find me? Did you see the woman who attacked me?"

Xavier seemed reluctant to answer her confusion, so Iris continued, "I know what happened to me. I vividly remember everything. So, please, Xavier, don’t lie to me. Please be honest with me—"

Xavier didn’t answer her right away. However, he pulled her and made her sit on his lap. Iris was stunned, but she didn’t refuse him. She simply stared back at his gaze with confused-looking eyes.

"Are you sure you want to hear everything?" He asked.

Iris nodded before saying, "Yes. Please tell me everything. I remember that woman was not human. She was so weird; she could change her eye color to dark crimson."

Just remembering those times somehow made her frightened. She still remembered that the woman looked graceful and beautiful. However, any moment her eyes turned crimson, she could feel the aura around that woman was so dark. Her gaze was filled with killing intent.

Iris wouldn’t be afraid if the woman were an ordinary human. She only freaked out when she realized her opponent wasn’t human or anything she knew about.

Xavier opened his mouth, wanting to explain, but his voice faded when he heard Iris continue her words.

"That woman, she might be a devil..." Hearing her own voice saying those words made Iris regret it.

’Iris Gray, how could Xavier possibly believe such a thing?’ She couldn’t help but scold herself inwardly for saying those words. ’No one will believe you...’

Iris sighed deeply, wondering if Xavier would think she was crazy for telling him she had been reborn in this body.

After calming down, she smiled at him and said, "X-Xavier, well... you won’t believe what I just said, right? I mean, I wouldn’t believe it myself as well. I’m also doubtful about what I saw there. But I remember the woman who attacked me; she was powerful and moved faster than me. I didn’t even have time to shoot her. She hit me—"

"I believe you, Iris," Xavier said before she finished her sentence. When he saw Iris’s eyes widen in surprise, he continued. "Iris, my dear... you’re right but also wrong."

"What do you mean?" Iris asked, confused.

"You’re right that the woman is not human, but you are wrong that she’s not a devil." He said while smoothing her hair gently.

"Not a devil?"

"Yes, she is a vampire..." Xavier paused, needing to observe her expression. He feared she’d freak out if she discovered Selina was a vampire.

However, seeing her remain silent worried him slightly. Just before he wanted to say something, he saw her speak.

...

Hearing what Xavier told her sent shivers down her body, imagining that the woman she had encountered in the forest was a vampire.

"A vampire? You mean a real vampire who sucks human blood?" Iris asked in a slightly tense voice. No wonder that woman looked so peculiar.

"Indeed," Xavier said calmly. He wondered if she might be frightened and continued to gaze into her eyes.

Xavier resumed speaking after observing Iris, who seemed lost in thought. He noticed how pale her face had become. "Do you believe in things like that, Iris? I mean, supernatural phenomena typically only seen on television or in books..."

Iris remained silent for a moment.

Of course, she believes in things like that because she is one of them. Even though she hadn’t met Lucian, the dark angel, she had encountered Gavriel many times.

However, she worried Xavier would discover her true identity and involvement with those people.

"I... Believe!" She finally said. "How about you, Xavier? Do you believe it, too?"

"Of course, I believe in things like that. I encountered and killed that woman..."

"You what? Wait—" Iris felt confused hearing all of Xavier’s words. "You met her? Aren’t you in District Three? It takes a few hours to fly here, right? I believe we were talking before I went to the forest..."

"Indeed, I’m in District Three." Iris frowned.

Iris was puzzled. But, she continued, "And you said you killed that woman!? How so? You’re only a human—" Suddenly, her voice trailed off. When she saw a flashlight, it surprised her. But, when she realized she had already moved to the sofa at the end of the room, her surprised expression changed to shock, then fear.

’How could I teleport when I didn’t use my ability? How?’ She looked around and then at Xavier, who was holding her waist, and she was still sitting on his lap.

’No way!! It’s not him who teleported us, right? He is only an average human, and he can’t have that ability...’ Iris wondered as she narrowed her eyes at him.

"Are you an angel too?" Iris asked. This was one of her most confident guesses; Xavier is a God’s Helper and can become an angel, like Gavriel and Lucian.

Her eyes were straight looking into his eyes, thrilled to hear his answer.

However, Xavier didn’t rush to answer her. Instead, he asked, "How do you know about an Angel?"
