Chapter 140: Dangerous Situation (1)

Chapter 140: Dangerous Situation (1)

Iris took her cell phone from her coat pocket and texted Maya. Inform her that she would take a nap for a while. She didn’t want Maya to come to her room because now, she wanted to try teleporting to the forest behind her house.

There was no more snow in the woods behind the house, and it seemed safe to explore there now.

However, despite feeling secure, a slight worry crossed her mind as she remembered that it was where young Iris had died. Nevertheless, she still wanted to visit the place.

Iris closed her eyes, concentrating, remembering the last location she visited in the forest.

She could feel the cold yet warm wind prickling her face in no time. The scent of nature surrounded her and felt refreshingly exciting.

Opening her eyes gradually, a happy smile appeared on her lips as she found herself standing on the ground, encircled by tall trees.

She could glimpse the blue sky through the partially bare tree leaves. On the ground, wildflowers had started to bloom.

The distant calls of birds reached her ears, and she relished the feeling of being surrounded by nature’s greenery after months of seeing nothing but snow in the city.

"What a beautiful place," she whispered and began walking.

She admired this place and grew curious about the forest behind Darkwood Villa. Xavier hadn’t taken her there yet, despite her repeated requests. He claimed it was still unsafe due to the absence of a path to climb to the mountain’s peak.

Iris scanned the area again, trying to recall where the young Iris had died.

"So, you died here, Iris?" she mumbled softly while looking around. She spotted a large rock from her vantage point, and, attempting to remember the events involving young Iris, she slowly closed her eyes.

In no time, Iris felt her blood run cold when she remembered that fateful night.

Young Iris had been running for her life from a gray wolf. Scared and panicked, she ran to this mountain; she had become hopelessly lost. As the wolf pursued her relentlessly, she tripped and fell, her head striking a rock, before finally coming to rest in a small hole.

’Gosh! So, that’s how you died?’ Iris thought to herself.

Iris couldn’t help but feel sorry for young Iris. Yet, oddly, a sense of gratitude also welled up within her. If young Iris hadn’t died that night, she wouldn’t have transmigrated into her current body and life as a God Helper. She would never have met Xavier or experienced love for the first time in both of her lives.

’Iris Gray, I hope you can rest in peace now,’ she whispered, offering a heartfelt prayer for the soul of young Iris Gray.

After praying for young Iris, she slowly opened her eyes. However, what she saw shocked her.

A slender woman wearing an army-colored bomber jacket stood not far from her. The woman’s long legs were perfectly wrapped in tight jeans, and her black leather boots made her look stunning.

’Why is there a woman in the forest behind my house?’ Iris wondered. She knew there were no other houses in this area, and no tourists would venture here, as it was like a private area with no public paths for climbing to the peak.

’Since when did this woman come to this place? Why don’t I feel her presence?’ Iris pondered while observing the elegant woman with brown hair braided down her back.

When Iris saw the woman smiling at her, revealing her flawless white teeth, she suddenly remembered where she had seen her before.

’The woman from the hospital!? Why is she here?’ She muttered inwardly, feeling curious about her.

Once more, Iris tries to read the woman’s thoughts. However, like before, she couldn’t feel her emotions or hear her thoughts, making Iris confused and worried about whether this woman was good or evil.

"Hello," Iris finally greeted the woman. "Why are you here?" After asking that, she scolded herself for her lame question.

The woman didn’t answer but walked closer to her, alerting Iris. Her hands clenched into fists, ready to retrieve the gun from her space ring if this woman tried to attack her.

Iris’s gaze remained fixed on the woman, mentally calculating that she would strike if the woman came within five steps away from her. However, the woman stopped about ten steps away, and Iris began to relax.

’Gosh! Am I being overly suspicious?’

"Hi, miss, I’m lost..." the woman, who is none other than Selina, finally answers Iris. She smiled at her and tried to entice Iris with her charm.

"Lost?" Iris repeated in surprise upon hearing that this woman was lost in this forest.

"Yes. I’m not sure how to find my way back to my friends now," Selina answered, pretending to look scared and worried.

Iris felt sorry for this woman and wanted to help. Still, she also didn’t know the right direction to Gray Cafe, to the street, since she had arrived using her teleportation ability.

"Can you help me?" Selina asked, her eyes fixed sharply on the beautiful girl before her.

Earlier, she had intended to visit the Gray Cafe to find her. However, she had taken a detour to this location when she detected the alluring scent of blood, the smell of this girl’s blood. Upon arrival, she was surprised to find her prey in this remote area.

Since the last time Selina had seen her at the hospital, she had been unable to resist the allure of her blood’s fragrance. She wanted to come to Gray Cafe a few times but remained in her cabin area due to Lord Xavier’s warning.

But today, she couldn’t stop herself from coming here any longer. Luckily for her, this morning, she found out Lord Xavier was in another city, allowing her to sneak out to Gray Cafe.

Today was her only chance.

It seemed the universe had favored her as she had encountered this girl here. She couldn’t afford to let this opportunity slip away; she needed to taste her blood.
