Iris was stunned hearing his words.

"Why do you feel that way? I won’t leave you..." She said to try to convince him.

Xavier nodded while smiling at her, "I know. But... I’m just afraid that a handsome guy will steal you, so—" His voice faded as Iris pressed her lips against his.

Xavier froze.

He was shocked because this was the first time she had taken the initiative. He liked it, but at that moment, he was puzzled if he should push her away because he was still struggling to hold back his thirst, afraid he might hurt her again.

He tried hard to distract his mind while he felt her warmth melting his coldness. Before he could start holding back, he felt her pull away her lips. There was disappointment rising within him, but there was also relief because he no longer had to worry about harming her.

Iris pulled her head away from him and looked him in the eyes. She completely forgot about her question and just nodded in response to his words.

And just like that, Iris lost the chance to ask again.

"Xavier, let me walk you to your car," Iris offered. But Xavier stopped her right at the door.

"No, Iris. It’s freezing outside, and you’re not wearing your coat. Go inside and lock the door. I will call you when I arrive home," he said firmly, leaving no room for her to refuse.

Iris could only smile and nod. She immediately locked the door and hurried upstairs. She wanted to peek out the window to see Xavier’s car leaving her house.

As if he knew Iris was watching, Xavier waved his hand through the car window to say goodbye to her. Soon, Xavier’s car slowly moved and vanished from her line of sight.

"Bye Xavier..." She whispered while standing by the window, gazing at the moon in the dark sky.

Later, she slowly raised her hand and looked at her beautiful ring again. She was in complete heaven, just staring at her engagement ring.

"This is unbelievable! My fate in this life changed so fast... A few weeks ago, I was just an old female with no experience in love. And now, I have become someone else’s fiancée..." She smiled faintly, happy with her progress in this life.

Iris can’t stop smiling. She returned back to her bedroom while practicing her teleport ability. She appeared in her room smoothly.

At this moment, Iris no longer felt dizzy when she teleported because she was starting to master her new ability. But, for now, she could only teleport a few meters away and to places she had visited before.

’Should I try to appear inside my car?’ She chuckled and closed her eyes again. Just like before, she succeeded and smoothly appeared inside the car. However, a few seconds later, she felt a bone-chilling cold. She immediately closed her eyes and focused on teleporting back to her bedroom.

Luckily, she appeared in her warm bedroom in no time, relieving herself.

"Okay, Iris, that’s enough for tonight... Don’t force yourself to try teleporting any further!" She warned herself because her mind was tempting her to teleport to Xavier’s house, which was the closest to her house, just a few miles away.

But how could she go there?

"No! Stop that foolish thought, girl..." she scolded herself.

Iris decided to clean herself and change into her pajamas before settling on her soft bed. She slowly closed her eyes but later heard her phone vibrating on the nightstand.

She grabbed her cell phone and saw Xavier’s name on the screen, causing her to smile while picking up the call, "Xavier," Iris happily said as soon as the call connected. "Have you arrived home?"

"Hmm, I just got into my bedroom. What are you doing now?" His gentle voice made Iris yearn to be with him again.

"Lying in bed. You’re right; I’m feeling tired and sleepy..." she replied with a yawn.

"Alright, get some rest. I’ll call you tomorrow morning to discuss our plan to visit the hospital."

"Okay. See you tomorrow, Xavier. Good night..." She said softly and closed her eyes. She was indeed exhausted. After a few moments of resting her eyes, she drifted off to sleep.

Shortly after...

Xavier appeared in the corner of the room. He walked over to her bed, tucked her in with a blanket, and ensured she was comfortable. Then, he settled on the nearby sofa, watching over her as she slept.
