Chapter 124: He Might Kill Her
Chapter 124: He Might Kill Her
Iris silently swallowed and nodded, confirming his question. She attempted to speak, but once again, words eluded her. She couldn’t utter a single word.
She still couldn’t believe what had just happened. Xavier Darkwood had proposed to her.
After Xavier put the beautiful pink diamond ring on her finger, Iris was stunned because it was the same size as hers.
’How could he know my finger size?’ Iris wondered while raising her hand, then looked at the beautiful ring on her finger. She couldn’t hide her happiness as her smile widened, and she couldn’t stop smiling. This strange feeling really made her feel like a fool.
She had never felt in love in her past life, let alone been proposed to like now. Even though Xavier’s proposal was casual—less romantic than what she had seen on television or read in magazines—the proposal was still very special to her and touched her heart deeply.
Seeing her smile that never stopped since then and her beaming eyes staring at the ring on her finger made Xavier feel guilty because it wasn’t him who chose the ring but Killian.
"Do you like the ring?" Xavier asked.
Iris shyly lowered her hand and turned to face him. "Yes, I really like... This ring is so gorgeous," she answered honestly.
This diamond ring with pink diamonds was much more beautiful than the ring Gavriel had given her a few days ago, which she had put on her other fingers as her space ring. Luckily for that magic ring, only she could see it. If Xavier could see it, too, then she would be in trouble.
"Glad that you like it," Xavier leaned back on the sofa and closed his eyes as he continued his words. "Iris Gray, if we marry later, I’ll give you another ring!" he said casually, but Iris, who heard his words, felt like all her blood was now rushing to her heart.
Her pulse quickened. Imagine if she married him. Slowly, she turned her head to look at him and was surprised to see him with his eyes closed. She stared at his long eyelashes and pale-looking face in silence for a while.
When her eyes focused on his lips, she silently gulped. "Xavier, are you sleeping?" She asked softly, afraid to wake him up if he really slept.
"No," Xavier answered. "I’m just resting my eyes." He wasn’t entirely honest with her because, at that moment, he was trying to find a solution for their relationship. What happens to them in the future is still unclear.
They come from different races, and to become one with her, the simple solution is to turn her into his race, a vampire. But, it was the last resort he would do to her.
"Are you tired?"
Xavier’s mind was distracted when he heard how soft her voice was now, and, somehow, her alluring blood fragrance at this moment started to test his inner desire. His hand crossed against his chest, clenched tightly, trying to hold back himself.
"A little," Xavier said. He slowly opened his eyes and turned to meet her beautiful gaze. He couldn’t hold back any longer. He placed his hand on her waist and pulled her to sit on his lap.
Iris was taken aback, but she didn’t refuse him.
Xavier smiled, looking at how shy she was in his lap. Unable to hold himself back any longer, he pulled her into his arms and buried his head in her neck, inhaling the sweet scent of her blood while trying to hold back his thirst.
"X-Xavier—" Iris was unable to finish her sentence. She was too nervous about the intimacy between them at this moment.
This was the first time she sat on his lap. But she started to feel Xavier hugging her too tightly, making her body uncomfortable, and slowly, she felt hurt. She felt like her bones were going to shatter as he squeezed her body.
"Please let go... this hurts, Xavier," Iris pleaded while trying to push him. However, his hug became even tighter, making her use more of her strength to push him. "XAVIER!! PLEASE LET GO! YOU... YOU HURT ME!!" She snapped.
Hearing Iris’s voice scream in his ear and her tiny hand pushing him hard, Xavier gasped.
He immediately released her.
"I’m sorry!" Xavier said. He placed her back on the sofa. "Iris, I’m sorry... Are you hurt? Where does it hurt?" He tried to check her body but stopped, afraid she would be even more fearful of him.
"My... my shoulders, you hugged me too tightly. But now it doesn’t hurt anymore," Iris smiled to make him stop blaming himself. She could see how sad his gaze was now.
Xavier breathed a sigh of relief but clearly blamed and hated himself for almost hurting her. He almost killed her because he couldn’t resist his desire to taste her.
This is what he is afraid of. If he pushes their relationship to a more serious level, he might end up hurting her one day.
Seeing that Xavier still seemed to regret what he did made Iris feel guilty for screaming at him.
"Xavier, I’m fine, really..." Iris said while placing her hand on his cold face, making him look at her. "You can hug me again, but promise not to hug me too tightly." She smiled.
Xavier returned her smile but didn’t hug her. He just took her hand and squeezed it gently. "I won’t hurt you anymore, Iris. I promise you..."
"Hmm, I believe you. I know you must have felt in a bad mood, right? Well, what happened earlier? You can tell me if something is bothering you, Xavier," Iris said.
"Earlier, I was afraid of losing you, Iris. That’s why I hugged you like that. I didn’t realize that I used too much of my power and almost hurt you," He said honestly.
Iris was stunned hearing his words.
"Why do you feel that way? I won’t leave you..." She said to try to convince him.
