Chapter 121: Sleeping Beauty

Even though her landing was still awful, she could teleport to another location, which made her happy.

Iris didn’t stop training even though she felt a little dizzy. However, when she couldn’t endure it any longer because it felt like all the steak she had eaten a few hours ago was ready to come out of her mouth, she threw herself onto the bed and closed her eyes.

She attempted to calm her mind and rest her eyes while waiting for a call from Xavier. However, she fell asleep in no time.

At seven in the evening, Xavier arrived at Iris’s house after attempting to call her several times without a response. Using his divine eyes, he saw her sleeping in her bedroom. He decided to first meet with Cassandra.

Cassandra was in the kitchen preparing dinner when she was surprised by the doorbell ringing. She promptly checked and was surprised to find a handsome young man at the door.

"Oh, dear Xavier... It’s been a while since I last saw you. You look even more handsome now." she smiled and promptly invited him inside. "Come...come... It’s freezing outside."

Xavier smiled politely at Cassandra and followed her into the house, "Grandma, I just arrived from Dubai and wanted to see Iris. I tried to call her several times, but she didn’t answer," he said.

Cassandra stopped her step and then looked back at Xavier, "She might be sleeping now... You know she is going to Darkhill this morning, right?"

Xavier supposedly didn’t know about Iris’s departure to Darkhill. Still, he worried Cassandra would be suspicious about what Iris was doing there. He could only nod.

Cassandra took a deep sigh as if she felt concerned about her granddaughter.

"That little girl must be exhausted after returning from Darkhill City. Xavier... Please help me wake her up. Let her know we’ll have dinner at 8..." Cassandra said.

Xavier nodded. He hurried to Iris’s bedroom.

Xavier teleported and appeared in her bedroom. He slowly walked near her bed and was mesmerized just looking at how beautiful she was in her sleep. For a brief moment, he simply stood there in silence.

However, he discovered something interesting when he was about to leave his room. His usually expressionless face gradually turned into surprise when he realized he could hear her thoughts while she slept.

’How strange! Now, I can hear what she’s thinking in her sleep!?’

He feels confused because this wasn’t the first time he had seen her asleep. But why only now did he hear her inner thoughts?

’Iris, did something happen to you while I was away?’

Driven by curiosity about what was happening to her, he approached her and sat on the edge of the bed. Gently, he placed his hand on her forehead and tried to access her memories.

Xavier abruptly stopped. Rising from his seat. He departed when he noticed her eyelashes flutter as she slowly opened her eyes. He reappeared in the seating area right outside Iris’s bedroom. There, he took a seat on a single sofa and sent her a text message.

[Xavier:] Iris, I’m outside. Please come out.

A few seconds after sending the message, Xavier heard a commotion in the room.

He couldn’t help but smile secretly when he saw her hastily wake up. However, as he saw her undress, removing her shirt and pants, his pupils dilated at the sight, and he was shocked about knowing his body would react like that.

Xavier quickly withdrew his divine eyes and gracefully walked toward the window, gazing at the solitary moon in the dark sky. The mere glimpse of her smooth, exposed skin had stirred something within him. He smirked, attempting to divert his mind.

Later, he heard a door open and her footsteps as she exited her bedroom. But suddenly, her steps halted not far from him.

"X-Xavier!? Y-You’re already up here?" Iris’s astonished voice echoed in the room. He slowly turned to face her, meeting her wide-eyed gaze.

Seeing her in her casual home clothes, Xavier couldn’t help but smile inside, thinking about what he had seen before. He shook his head slightly as if trying to get rid of his thoughts about her white skin under her oversized hoodie.

"Did you miss me that much?" he said softly, observing her seeming to freeze in surprise.

He didn’t hear her answer, but seeing her fair face gradually turning pink was enough for him to understand what she was thinking.

"I miss you too, Iris Gray," Xavier said, slowly walking towards her and stopping before her. He gently lifted his hand and caressed her flushed cheek. "If you don’t say anything now, I might kiss you."

"I-I miss you too!" She hurriedly replied while turning her gaze away from him. "W-Why are you here?"

"You seem didn’t like to see me, Iris Gray?"

"No, I mean, since when did you arrive here? Did you wait for me long?"

"A few minutes."

"Sorry to make you wait. I can’t pick up your call. I overslept—"

"It’s ok," Xavier smiled to reassure her. "Let’s go downstairs first. Grandma is already waiting for us for dinner. We can talk afterward." He took her hand and led her to the stairs.

"You two are finally here! I was just about to go upstairs," Cassandra said cheerfully upon seeing Iris and Xavier enter the living room.

"Grandma, I’m sorry, I just woke up," Iris said, smiling awkwardly at her grandmother.

Cassandra smiled at her granddaughter and gestured for them to join her.

As they began eating dinner, Grandma couldn’t help but share the shocking news she had heard about Ruby Winters on the 8 o’clock news.

"Iris, if I remember correctly, Ruby Winters is your college friend who visited our cafe a week ago, right?" Cassandra asked, her voice still filled with shock.

Iris was slightly surprised to hear her grandma’s question. She tried to appear as calm as possible and simply nodded in response while glancing at Xavier. She was curious to see if he was already aware of the news.
