Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife -
Chapter 120: Second Rewards
Chapter 120: Second Rewards
"My ride... finally arrived just in time, Iris." Justin smiled as he walked toward the black sedan stopped on the street. "Bye, Iris, see ya!"
Justin entered the car but received an annoyed look from the driver inside.
"Who the hell are you, dude?" A bald man sitting behind the wheel glared at Justin. He was confused since someone had barged in when he was supposed to pick up his cousin, who was still in Gray Cafe.
Justin’s cheerful face slowly turned dark as his eyes stared intensely into the bald man’s eyes. "Drive now, or you die!" he said, releasing his cold aura and manipulating his mind.
The bald man was shocked, feeling as though this man was his ancestor who had come back from the dead to punish him. He couldn’t refuse. He nodded and pressed the gas pedal further.
...
Iris immediately entered the cafe.
At that time, Kevin and Maya were preparing to close the cafe, waiting for four customers still enjoying their coffee.
"Thank God... Iris, you’re finally back," Maya greeted her worriedly.
"Sister Maya, what happened?" Iris frowned, looking at how concerned she was. "Where is grandma?"
"She just goes inside. Please hurry, check on her. I’m so worried about her. Today, she missed her lunch, and before going back inside, I could see how pale her face was, afraid she might be sick..." Maya couldn’t hide her worry from Iris.
Instantly, Iris felt cold fear run down her spine, remembering her grandmother’s illness.
"Thank you, Maya, for telling me this. I’ll check inside..." Iris said, then walked quickly into her grandmother’s living room.
However, before she reached the living room, she heard her grandmother’s faint voice from a distance, and she sounded happy and laughed.
’She’s fine!?’ Iris’s worries slowly faded. She stopped before entering the living room, trying to act normal. She didn’t want her Grandma to know she was worried about her.
"Grandma, what’s making you laugh like that?" Iris greeted her grandmother cheerfully while observing her blushing face. There was no trace of pain, as Maya had just told her.
"My dear Iris, you’re finally back," Cassandra’s eyes lit up, looking at her granddaughter. "This... Running Man’s new episode was so funny."
Iris was speechless. She had been worrying for nothing. She thought her Grandma was sick, but now she saw her Grandma sitting and giggling alone, in front of the TV, enjoying her Korean variety show, Running Man.
"Grandma, do you still watch these shows?" Iris casually asked as she sat on the sofa to join her. She quickly glanced at the television and then back at her Grandma.
"Of course... This is the only source of my happiness these days," she said, focusing again on the television. "You came back early?" she asked without taking her eyes off the screen.
"Yeah, thanks to you, Grandma... I managed to come back before the sun went down," Iris casually replied as she rested her back on the sofa, trying to watch the show. However, she couldn’t even understand what was happening on the television because her mind was too busy thinking about something else.
"See, the train is faster than driving..." Cassandra smiled. When she saw Iris nod while yawning, she suggested Iris rest.
Iris didn’t refuse.
She wanted to go upstairs to check her reward. She was thrilled to know what her superior, Lucian, would give her this time. She hoped he would offer her more than one, but she knew it was unlikely.
However, if that happened, she would be incredibly thankful to him because she needed to become stronger this time. She wanted to upgrade her ability to read other people’s minds, and she also wanted to acquire a teleportation ability.
When Iris arrived at her bedroom, she threw her coat on the sofa. She settled on the couch before summoning her invisible cell phone.
When Iris opened her cell phone, she expected to find information about her prize there. She immediately opened it and saw that two prizes appeared, just as before.
<You can claim these two available prizes:>
<1. Mind Controller - Level 2>
<2. Teleport - Level 1>
"Should I choose teleport?" She mumbled, feeling torn. "Can’t he just give me both?" Suddenly, Iris’ eyes widened when she reread the text.
"Damn! Did he give me two? Really??" She shouted, then read the text repeatedly to ensure she hadn’t misread it.
Suddenly, she laughs happily to know that Lucian actually gives her two.
"Hahaha, thank you, boss! Thank you... You are such a kind angel!!" She shouted. And immediately chose both, fearing that Lucian might cancel this offer.
"Let’s see this ability information—" Iris was thrilled to learn. She hurriedly selected the information about Mind Controller Level 2.
...
<Level 2: Thought Projection>
<Description: You can control minds more deeply, allowing you to project your thoughts into the minds of others, like whispers, instructing them to do what you want. However, this only applies to people with mental abilities lower than yours.>
...
Iris’s smile grew wider when she read this information. This was precisely what she needed.
"Not bad! Now, let’s learn about this teleport... I hope I can teleport like Gavriel!"
The basic information appeared after she pressed <Teleportation Level 1>.
...
<Level 1: Basic Teleportation>
<Description: At this stage, you can only teleport short distances and need to see the destination physically to teleport accurately. You need to practice to master this ability.>
...
After reading the instructions, she couldn’t resist the urge to try it. She closed her eyes and focused her mind on moving to her bathroom.
A few seconds later, a loud someone falling on the floor could be heard.
Thud!
"DAMN!!!" Iris cried out as she landed on the cold, hard floor.
She could feel the pain in her buttocks. But when she realized she had already moved into her bathroom, she broadly smiled and immediately stood up from the floor.
"YES! I did it!!" She shouted with joy while pinching her glabella because she felt slightly dizzy.
Even though her landing was still awful, she could teleport to another location, which made her happy.
