Chapter 107: Kill Him!?
Chapter 107: Kill Him!?
"Milord, I apologize for calling you now," Justin’s voice trembled, still shocked by what he had seen. "Lady Iris, she, she... met a man, and that man is the same one who picked her up at our campus a few days ago—"
Beep!
"Huh!? Why did Lord Xavier suddenly hang up!?" Justin frowned, staring at his cell phone screen. He was confused because he hadn’t asked what he wanted to do — did he need to kill the man or not?
Justin took a deep breath and turned to look in Iris’s direction. Instantly, his face stiffened when he realized Iris was nowhere to be seen. Just as he was about to start looking for Iris, a text message arrived.
[Xavier:] You can go home now! I will take care from now on.
Reading Xavier’s text was enough to deepen Justin’s confusion. Why did Lord Xavier suddenly ask him to go home? Was the man he’d been talking to someone who wouldn’t harm Iris?
Justin scratched his not-itchy hair, feeling puzzled. After a few seconds of standing in his place, he set aside his curiosity and walked to an empty area.
After ensuring no one was around, he vanished from his location and arrived at Darkwood Villa. But what he saw shocked him.
"L-Lord Xavier... you’ve returned? Since when?" Justin asked. He was utterly shocked as he looked at Xavier standing by the window, his back facing him. Xavier appeared casual, wearing a black shirt and shorts as he hurried back from Dubai.
Xavier didn’t bother to answer Justin’s curiosity. After hearing that Iris was now with Gavriel, he was lost in deep thought. Only one thing could make Iris leave Silenthill and visit Darkhill without telling him: she was on her next mission.
He knew Iris’s role as an assassin very well, and now he didn’t need to worry about her because Gavriel would look after her. Now, he just needs to interrogate the person who had forced him to separate from his lover.
...
After Xavier gave him the cold shoulder, Justin turned to Niles, who sat on the sofa in the corner with a grim expression, staring back at him. "Niles..." Justin walked quickly toward Niles. "Since when did Lord Xavier arrive?" he asked in his low voice.
"Since you texted him about Lady Iris," Niles answered in his casual, cold tone.
"I see..." Justin replied as he sat next to Niles. "Man, why are you so relaxed here? Why didn’t you go hunting that bastard? Let’s go... We need to take action now!" He felt worried because they couldn’t delay things now that their Lord had returned.
"We already captured them. They will arrive—" Niles paused as he closed his eyes, trying to hear something from afar. A second later, Niles stood up from the sofa and looked at Xavier, who turned to gaze at him. "They have arrived, Milord!"
"Hmm, I know. Please put them in the dungeon! I need to interrogate them myself," Xavier said and then vanished, appearing in his bedroom. He needed to change his clothes.
After Xavier had changed his clothes and was about to go down to the detention room, his cell phone rang, and he was surprised when he saw Iris’s name appear on the phone screen.
"Hi Iris, finally, you called me..." Xavier said happily.
Iris, who was sitting next to Gavriel, the driver, felt awful because she had to lie to Xavier again. She didn’t want to, but she didn’t have a choice, right?
"Sorry, Xavier... I was doing something, so I could only call you now," Iris cleared her throat a little, which, for some reason, felt very dry. "In your text before, you said you wanted to tell me something important?" she asked curiously.
"Yes. I just wanted to tell you that I’ve settled everything here. So, I will fly back to Silenthill in a few minutes. I will arrive tonight..." He said calmly, but his words were enough to make Iris gasp in shock.
"O-Oh, r-really..." she stammered, feeling both happy and worried. Fearing that Xavier would know she was not at her house but in another city. She had to take care of this matter here immediately so he could return to her house before Xavier arrived.
"Iris—" Xavier’s voice sounded cold, making Iris flinch. "You sound unhappy that I’m back early?" he asked in a low tone.
"Ugh!? No! Of course, I’m so happy..." Iris responded quickly, trying to be cheerful to hide her shock. "Well, I was just slightly surprised to hear that because I thought you wouldn’t return for a few days."
"Glad to hear you are excited about my return, Iris."
"Hahaha, of course! I’m so happy because we will meet faster, Xavier."
"Really?"
"Yes, I miss you so much, Xavier..." Iris lowered her voice. She didn’t want Gavriel to hear her flirting words. She felt embarrassed to show her PDA in front of this grumpy-cold Gavriel.
"Me too," Xavier smiled, feeling in a good mood now. He didn’t care if Iris lied to him. He could understand the nature of her duty as an assassin for God. He would wait until she opened up about it. If she ever dared to tell him one day, he might also reveal his true identity.
"Okay, Iris, I will hang up now. I’m just about to take off..." Xavier continued.
"Okay, okay... Take care, Xavier... Have a safe flight! Please don’t forget to call me when you arrive at the airport, alright?" Iris said.
"Sure."
After the call ended, Iris breathed deeply, feeling her heart lighter after talking to Xavier. She was grateful that Xavier didn’t ask her anything. If he had inquired about her schedule for the day, she would have grown tired of lying to him once again.
"Gavriel... You know? I’m so damn relieved now! Xavier won’t be calling me for a few hours. He’s on a plane heading home..." Iris said while gazing out of the window, observing the busy street as people in the city began their morning activities.
