Chapter 105: Disguise

Justin had installed a device in Iris’ car. If the vehicle were turned on, he would receive a signal on his mobile device. And just now, he suddenly received the alert signal.

Quickly, he teleported to Iris’s house and was surprised to see Iris heading toward her car and leaving the parking lot.

Panic surged through him because he knew from Xavier that Iris had no plans to go out.

He was worried because Iris had left her house before sunrise, especially since they still hadn’t found the person they were looking for.

’Damn, why did this little lady leave so early?’ Justin cursed inwardly as he ran through the woods to follow her car.

However, before long, Iris’ car entered the city, and he couldn’t run on the streets for fear of being seen. He leaped over buildings and followed her car from above.

Soon, Iris’s car stopped at the train station, further heightening Justin’s panic. If Iris took the train, he might lose her.

’Damn! Iris, where the hell are you going?’ Justin scolded Iris silently as he kept a close watch on her car. Finally, after 10 minutes, the car door opened.

What Justin saw shocked him.

’The heck! Why is another woman coming out from her car?’ He was sure he had only seen Iris get into the car, but now, he saw a woman with short black pixie hair and round glasses.

Instantly, he feared something terrible had happened to Iris, and this woman had harmed her. The thought of Iris getting hurt filled him with dread.

Justin waved his hand in front of his face and transformed. He went from being the pale-faced Justin with golden eyes to a man with brown eyes and short black hair. He was unrecognizable even if Iris were to scrutinize him closely.

He approached the black-haired girl, but before getting too close, he realized something.

’Damn! This girl scared me. Why the heck is she in disguise?’ Justin smirked, still puzzled by Iris’s strange behavior, heading somewhere early in the morning. He slowed his pace and followed her to the train station.

Justin needed to know her destination because he couldn’t let her go alone, fearing that something might happen. And, if anything did happen, his lord would never forgive or even kill him.

’Shit! She’s about to enter the platform gate!’ Justin felt stressed because he couldn’t enter that area without a ticket. But moments later, he smiled when Iris took out her cell phone and scanned the barcode. He could clearly see Iris’ destination and the ticket details with his sharp eyes.

After knowing Iris’ ticket details, Justin walked to the ticket counter and bought the same ticket as her. Luckily, there were still many empty seats near where Iris was sitting. He bought all the seats to make sure no one else was sitting near them.

Iris could finally breathe a sigh of relief because she had reached the train on time. Earlier, she had been worried about being late as she had spent much time wearing her contact lenses and wig in the car. She needed to conceal her appearance, fearing someone might recognize her.

She glanced around at the surrounding seats to ensure no significant threats on the train.

Iris noticed only half as many passengers on the train. Each row had four seats, but only two passengers sat in her row, herself and one other. She chose a seat near the window while the other passenger, a man, sat near the opposite end.

She took a quick glance at the man. He had tan skin and short black hair. However, something piqued her curiosity: the man was wearing only a red hoodie with nothing underneath, compressed sports pants, and running shoes as if he had just finished his morning jog.

’This man seems suspicious. Why is he traveling in this cold weather with just a hoodie? He doesn’t even wear any coat at all,’ Iris muttered.

However, she tried to push aside her suspicions because the man didn’t appear to have any malicious intentions toward her. He seemed engrossed in his cell phone, paying no attention to her.

She gazed out the window as the train sped along, allowing her to take in the passing scenery.

But when she realized this, it only took 35 minutes to arrive at Darkhill City. She immediately texted Gavriel, worried that he might still be sleeping and had forgotten to pick her up at the train station.

[Iris:] Gavriel, I’m already on the train heading to Darkhill. I should arrive in about 35 minutes.

Looking at her cell phone screen, Iris hoped Gavriel would respond promptly. However, after several minutes of waiting, there was no response.

"Is he sleeping?" she mumbled, placing her cell phone back into her coat pocket and attempting to close her eyes. But before long, her phone vibrated. "Huh! He finally replied."

She quickly checked her cell phone, but her expression twitched when she saw Xavier’s name on the screen.

’Why is he calling now?’ She hesitated to answer his call, only staring at her cell phone while thinking, ’He might find out I’m heading to Darkhill if I answer, right?’

After the call ended, she felt a sense of relief. At least, for now, she didn’t have to speak with him. She decided she would call him later and use the excuse that she was still asleep and missed his call.

Taking a deep breath, she expressed her frustration. She didn’t enjoy juggling these identities: Iris Gray, a regular human girl, and an assassin for God.

’This constant lying is exhausting... I hope one day I can tell him everything.’

Iris placed her cell phone in her pocket. However, just as she was about to relax, her phone vibrated again. This time, it was a text message.

[Xavier:] Iris, please call me when you wake up. There’s something important I need to discuss with you. (Worry emoji)

A frown appeared on Iris’s face, and she seemed lost in deep thought for a while.
