Chapter 44: Wanted For Twenty Billion Dollars

Chapter 44: Wanted For Twenty Billion Dollars

"... and yet again Raven Moon has attacked another member of the Hopkins family. She set the Hopkins’ residence worth billions of dollars yesterday afternoon." The news anchor said, "Right now, both the police and the FBI are working together on the search of this Raven Moon. She is said to be a masterpiece of deception and extremely dangerous. She can disguise herself as anyone..."

Perry Kings turned off the TV, not listening anymore. He was panicking. He wasn’t aware that she was the one his boss had been searching for but now he had watched the news and understood why Raven wanted to work as Larry’s assistant. She had manipulated him and now he’s going to pay.

Perry Kings threw his legs off the bed and got to his feet. If his boss were to ever get his hands on him, he would face his wrath. And he didn’t want that.

He made to leave through the door, but then the door slid open, revealing his angry boss and his five bodyguards.

Intense fear grabbed Perry. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what Larry was going to do with him.

"You pretended you were injured." Larry spoke slowly, his eyes red with fury, "Now you won’t have to pretend anymore."

"No...wait... Mr Hopkins... please... wait... listen." Perry stuttered backing away in fear.

The five men charged at him while Larry shut the door behind him so passersby wouldn’t see what was happening in the room. They beat him to a pulp to the extent that he was barely hanging by a thread. They had broken every bone in Perry’s body.

After the beating, they placed him on the bed and covered him with a bedsheet.

"There, you won’t have to pretend anymore," Larry said slowly before heading out.

Raven, Millie, and Adam watched Larry Hopkins on that TV as he put a huge bounty on Raven’s head. James was asleep, tired after enduring all the pain from yesterday.

"Raven Moon has caused me mental, physical, and emotional harm." Larry was saying on the TV broadcast, "She murdered my sister, abducted my girlfriend, disguised herself as Holly Pringle, set my house on fire, and is still out for my blood, and yet, the FBI hasn’t found her. Therefore, I’m willing to reward the sum of twenty billion dollars to anyone who captures this Raven Moon first. Yes, twenty billion dollars." Then Larry stared deep into the camera, "I know you’re watching me. Enough of these games. Soon, you will face justice."

Adam turned off the TV.

"Wow!" Adam blurted out, "Twenty billion dollars. Everyone will be out for you, Raven. What are you gonna do Raven?"

Raven was about to answer when Millie cut her off.

"I think I’ll take it from here," Millie said, getting to her feet and earning surprised glances from both Adam and Raven.

"What will you do?" Raven asked, glancing up at Millie.

"A life for life, right?" Millie asked, raising her eyebrows enquiringly.

Raven couldn’t speak, "Are you sure..."

"This is also my fight Raven." Millie said, "Let me do this, to honor my brother."

Raven nodded, "Okay."

***

It was already dusk and dark.

On the side of the road was an injured girl; her dress was torn from a struggle, she was without any shoes, and her ankles, face, and arms were drenched with blood.

She looked like she had just escaped from the hands of a kidnapper or an assaulter.

She was Millie.

She had told Raven to dress her this way just so it’d appear convincing to anyone, especially Larry.

She moved to the telephone booth and dialed Larry’s number.

After a while, Larry picked up. "Who the fuck is this?"

Millie’s voice trembled as she cried, "B... babe!"

She heard Larry catch her breath. "Ba.. babe! Millie! Is that you?"

Millie sniffed, "Yes, will you please come get me?"

She heard Larry scrambled to his feet, "Where are you right now? I’m coming to get you!"

"I... I..." Millie broke off, then burst out crying, "I don’t know! I’m so scared!"

"Are there any shops around there? Neon light? Anything!" Larry asked desperately.

Millie glanced around the area. "Y... yes."

"Tell me!" Larry said urgently, "Go on!"

"I... see a neon light that says eat me," Millie said, still maintaining the terrified voice.

"Eat me, eat me, eat me." Larry thought out aloud, "Alright, I’m coming for you okay? Stay hidden!"

"Okay, babe!"

And then the line went dead. Millie smiled to herself in satisfaction. She’s such a wonderful actress.

In under thirty minutes, Larry has arrived. "Millie! Millie!" He shouted, glancing around the place.

"Babe!" Millie shouted, coming out from her hiding place. She ran up to Larry and threw herself at him.

He caught her midair and embraced her tightly.

"I missed you, Millie." He said joyfully, tears flowing down his cheeks, "I’m so glad you’re safe. I couldn’t sleep at night. I was so scared."

"Let’s go home," Millie suggested and Larry agreed.

He hadn’t come with his chauffeur, he had driven here by himself. They got into the car and then drove to the penthouse Larry had rented after Raven burned his home to the ground.

"Why don’t you wash up?" Larry suggested, taking off her clothes. "I’m sorry you had to go through this, Millie. I never meant for any of this to happen to you."

Millie gave her a weak smile. "I know. It’s not your fault. Raven is unhinged. I’m so lucky I escaped. Otherwise, she would have killed me."

"Go take a bath, sweetie," Larry said kissing her on the forehead.

Millie got into the shower and let the cold water trickle down her body. She was going to do what she’s been planning to do her whole life.

She was going to murder Larry. She was going to finally get revenge for her dead brother.

She took her beautiful time in the shower, letting the water cool her down.

When she was done, she wrapped herself in a bath towel and headed out of the bathroom. Larry helped her change into something comfy as she was injured... she told Raven to inflict the injury to make it convinceable.

Larry ordered food, and they both ate, cuddled, and watched TV together.

Millie felt it was finally time. She got to her feet and headed to the kitchen.

"Where are you going?" Larry asked as she stood up.

"I’m gonna get some water." She answered.

"Need some help."

"No, I got it." She answered before moving to the kitchen.

There, she grabbed a glass plate, hid it behind her, and then screamed at the top of her lungs.

"What’s the matter?" Larry charged into the kitchen ready to defend himself against whatever it was.

"I saw something over there," Millie answered in feigned fear, pointing under the kitchen table.

Larry knelt down to check but he saw nothing. He quickly turned to Millie, "I don’t see anything..."

Millie, struck, smashing the glass plate on his head, rendering him unconscious.
