Chapter 43: Reconnection

Finding James Moon was never hard for Larry.

He has tons of connections in the government that are capable of tracking someone down if he wants to catch them.

The reason why he hadn’t been able to catch Raven yet was because there wasn’t any record of her in the system. No bank account, no ATM transactions, no nothing! It was like Raven didn’t exist on Earth.

But James Moon had a bank account and ATM transactions that could be monitored. That was the reason why he wasn’t hard for Larry to find.

In under an hour, they had tracked down James Moon’s address and had given him a visit, without forgetting to beat him to a pulp.

On the cabin by the sea, James Moon was lying on the floor, in his own pool of blood, helpless.

Sitting on a stool in front of him was Larry, his legs crossed as he waited for Raven’s arrival. By his side were five professional bodyguards. He had decided to hire professional bodyguards who were skillfully trained, unlike the mob.

Even though he didn’t look at it, he was a bit terrified that something might happen to Millie.

But then his phone rang. He stared at the caller ID, seeing it was Raven, and he picked it up. It was a video call.

"Are you on your way yet..." He broke off, his eyes bulging out of its socket as he saw the location she was at.

She was in his fucking house! How the fuck did Raven get into his house?! There’s no way in hell she could have beaten up those guards.

"Surprised are we?" Raven smirked.

"How the fuck did you get into my house?" He asked bewildered.

"I know for a fact that this huge mansion alone is worth billions. Am I right? Or am I right?" Raven smiled, "I can set it all on fire and they’ll burn to the ground." Then Raven showed him the petrol she had poured all over the floor. "This is exactly how the father of your friend, Antonio Gomez, set my house on fire, and I’m coming for him, too, after I’m done with you."

"You’re crazy! You know that, right?!" Larry snarled.

He hoped that she wouldn’t. That house has been the symbol of heritage for the Hopkins family for generations. Even though it holds memory of him being constantly abused by his dad, it was still his home and he wanted to pass the house on to his kids and grandkids. It was his wish, to keep the family’s legacy going.

"Yes, I am crazy." Raven retorted, "You, your sister, and your friends made me crazy. I’ll either burn the house with Ali in here," She showed him Ali; her hands were tied behind her back, her legs were also tied, and her mouth was gagged. She was literally shaking shaking with fear, tears flowing like a waterfall. "... and you kill my stupid brother for all I care, he’s dead to me anyways. Or you let my brother go and I’ll let your girlfriend and your house go. So what do you say? Deal? Or no deal?"

Fuck it! Larry cursed in his mind. How on earth was she gonna get this girl? He has so many weaknesses, and she has none.

There was no guarantee she was going to leave him alone if he let her brother go. She might keep hunting her and make his life miserable.

"You’ll leave me alone after this, right?" He asked.

Raven tilted her head to the side and lit a match.

"Okay! Okay! Stop!" He yelled desperately, "I’m letting your brother go." To the men, he told them to set James free.

"A car will drive in any second." Raven told him, "The driver will pick my brother up, and you are not to touch him."

At that moment, a convertible car sped into the cabin, smashing the wooden door in the process, nearly hitting Larry and the men who jumped out of the way just in time.

Adam jumped out of the car and carried James, who was nearly unconscious, onto his body and into the car. Adam got behind the steering wheel and drove off.

Larry angrily picked up the phone which had fallen on the floor when dashing out of the way. "This is not what we agreed on!" He growled.

"Your mistake for trusting me," Raven said and let go of the match, letting the house light up in flames. "Oops!"

Larry didn’t even know how to feel as he watched as his family’s house burned.

"You fucking bitch!!!!"

The line had already gone dead.

He yelled, shouted, screamed in livid fury. He didn’t know what to do anymore. He feared he was going to end up just like his sister.

Raven sped through the road into the parking lot of the skyscraper. She ran out of the car and to the elevator.

She hadn’t meant it when she had said that her brother was dead to her. She was scared shitless at the time, thinking Larry would kill her brother. It was just a bluff to throw Larry off and he had bought it.

In fact, she has been searching for her brother for the past years without any successful results.

The elevator dinged open, and she ran into the passage to the penthouse. He found Adam cleaning up James’ wounds in the living room.

She felt her tears coming and then she blinked them back. "James," She said sniffing. "Are you okay?"

"Let’s give them some privacy," Millie suggested and together, both she and Adam left the two siblings alone.

Raven was standing, staring at her only world. Even though James had abandoned her, she didn’t have any resentment for him.

While James on the other hand, refused to look up at his sister.

"Will you please look at me?" Raven, pleaded in tears.

"I don’t want to see you." He replied, looking away.

"Why not?"

"Because I hate myself for what I did to you. I’m so sorry." James apologized, tears equally streaming from his eyes, his voice full of emotions.

"It’s okay." Raven crouched to her brother’s level and embraced him tightly, never letting go. "I forgive you okay? Don’t beat up yourself."

Together, the two siblings shed tears of joy and agony, forgave each other, and reconnected once more.
