Chapter 45: Goodbye Larry
Chapter 45: Goodbye Larry
Larry woke up with a throbbing headache, his head drenched with blood. At first, he couldn’t see anything his vision was a little blurry. But with time, they became clear.
He initially had no recollection of what had happened. But as he thought for a while, they came flooding into his head.
Millie had gone into the kitchen... and had screamed... he had gone to check then.. what else? Millie had smashed a glass plate on his head.
Why? Why would Millie harm him?
Gosh, his head hurts just from thinking.
He began to take in his surroundings. Where the hell was he? A rope that hung on the ceiling was tied around his neck, and his hands were tied behind him. His legs were resting on the chair just below him.
He began to panic.
"Afraid, are we?" Millie asked and it was then he noticed her sitting just in front of him.
"M... Millie. Babe! What the fuck is this?" He asked in a terrified tone.
"Paying back an eye with an eye," Millie answered.
"What the fuck do mean?" Larry yelled. "What is the meaning of this? Are you fucking crazy? Get me down right this instant!"
Millie said nothing but kept staring up at him, with her hands folded in her bosom.
"Millie... baby... please." He quivered, "Get me down, okay? I beg you. Please."
"Do you remember a kid named Max?" Millie asked, her voice icy.
"What the fuck do you mean Max? Get me down right this instant."
"Max Orwell." Millie continued. "He was a scholarship student at Gomez University. And he was only twenty. You don’t remember him do you?"
"If there’s a misunderstanding, Millie, please, let’s talk it out like couples, okay?" He pleaded desperately.
"He was only twenty then, and unfortunately for him, he turned out to be gay." Millie continued, ignoring his plea, "You still don’t remember him do you?"
"I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about..."
"You bullied him. You made him miserable." Millie said, "You made him think that he wasn’t human and that he was worthless. You made him hate himself to the point of death. You killed him."
"I didn’t kill anyone!"
"I’m assuming you still don’t remember, do you?" Millie said shaking her head. "You ruined someone’s life, and yet you don’t even remember him. He was insignificant to you."
"Look... Millie..."
"My name is not Millie." She said, getting to her feet, "I’m Jade... Jade Orwell." She walked up to Larry. "You still don’t remember who Max Orwell is, do you?"
Larry’s anger flared up. "You fucking bitch are you with Raven? No, babe, please I’m sorry."
"I’m Max Orwell’s little sister, and I’m getting revenge for bullying him to death just because he was homosexual."
"Wait, that fucking homosexual?" Larry yelled in disbelief. "You’re his fucking sister? That imbecile got what he deserves!"
A smile appeared on Millie’s lips. It was a bitter smile. Nonetheless, a smile.
"I’m glad you haven’t changed Larry, so I can kill you in peace." Millie said, "Oh, and one more thing... I never loved you, Larry. Once you die, I’ll inherit everything of yours."
"What... wait... Millie... no Jade... please."
"Goodbye, Larry."
Then she kicked off the chair.
Larry somersaulted in the air, his legs and hands flailing in sheer desperation as the rope tightened around his neck, draining the life out of him.
Jade watched. She didn’t blink. She just watched, enjoying as Larry slowly slipped into the abyss of darkness.
Then all of a sudden. Larry stopped moving.
"Do you see that Max?" Jade asked aloud, tears streaming down her cheeks, "I finally did you. I killed him. Now you can rest in peace."

Raven walked into the living room
"... just received the report that Larry Hopkins committed suicide in his rented penthouse yesterday night." The news anchor was saying. "The police and the people are speculating that it might have been Raven Moon, Larry Hopkins’ tormentor might have been the culprit, but there is no evidence. No security cameras caught Raven Moon or anyone who looked like her entering the building. Larry Hopkins’ girlfriend is gravely devastated. She was the one that found her dead in the kitchen..."
"She did it," Raven said, sitting down.
"I guess she did." Adam said, "What would you have done if Millie hadn’t shown up?" He asked.
"Well, I wouldn’t say I’d kill them." Raven answered, "I just want to drive them insane just for a bit, take what they love dearly... which is money, and then ruin their public image. I guess that’s it. I abducted Lara because she was the architect of my problem. I just wanted to ruin her marriage, drive her crazy, and then inflict some injury on her. But I was never gonna kill her."
"Have you heard from Felipe?" Adam asked.
"I heard he sold his company and moved abroad with his daughter. Guess he doesn’t want to remember anything about here."
"So... Lara and Larry are gone. Dante Perez is next, right?" Adam asked.
"Yeah," Raven answered.
"He’ll be way harder to get closer to." He said.
"And way easier to ruin." She completed.
James came out at the moment with a luggage.
"I’m done." He said.
Raven stood up and hugged him.
"Are you sure you want me to go?" He asked.
"You have to." She answered. "I have to get justice for Mom and Layla. Don’t you too?"
"I do but..."
"Then you have to go James." She said, "Your mere presence here, will only be a weakness. So please, for my sake. Just go, okay?"
He nodded.
"I’ll miss you."
"I’ll miss you more."
The two siblings embraced themselves once more.
"Take care, pal," Adam said. "My guys are waiting for you by the boat. Be safe."
Both James and Adam shook hands.
"Thank you for being by my sister’s side. I’m extremely grateful." He said to Adam.
"No worries, man." Adam said, "With me, Raven is and will always be safe."
