Psychic Overlord -

Chapter 154: Tousou (The Battle) 18
Kaizer wiped his mouth, cleaning away a trickle of blood that appeared. His usually clean and slick-backed black hair began to rise upwards, like a draft was coming from below.
Using Transvection, he began to rise into the air as a blue outline formed around him, his gaze imperious and lofty as he looked down upon Rina, still cloaked in endless death energy.
"Oh? I kinda like that look, Brother. Make sure to take a picture of it for me," Rina joked, not taking him seriously.
She knew everything he did, every trick he had, and every ability he mastered. Knowing her own power in comparison, she had truly been honest when she said that Kaizer only had a 1% chance to win if he went all out, so she was waiting for that moment.
Rina had no interest in winning or being the strongest, as she always knew Kaizer would rise up to take the mantle. Her being the avatar of whoever or whatever didn’t really matter anyway, she was only interested in seeing how far her beloved Kaizer could go and supporting him to the throne.
But to get there, she had to correct his mentality, and she would not show any kindness despite her feelings!
Kaizer had to learn this too, as even though he hemmed and hawed about their romantic relationship, he was still extremely reluctant to go all out against her due to affection, even if it might cost him his victory.
That was unacceptable for Rina!
Kaizer floated in the air and glanced downward, releasing a deep breath.
"You were right, Rina. I have been holding back for a long time because I have been aware of the feelings of others for a good portion of my life."
"People have their own thoughts and experiences, and I can glimpse into them, understanding who they really are and what they really think. Because of this, I’ve learned not to judge easily and not to condemn people without being fully sure."
Kaizer slapped his palms together, a look of ferocity appearing on his usually calm face.
"However, because of this constant state of thinking in others’ shoes, I have hardly been able to be decisive and think for myself."
Psychic energy exploded from Kaizer, causing the entire arena to tremble like an earthquake was occurring. Lances of psychic energy fluttered and flashed, causing the air to tremble as rocks and small pieces of debris from the ground began to rise up slowly, defying gravity.
"And after dying twice and seeing the void of nothingness on the other side, I think... no, I know what I want."
Kaizer struggled to split his palms apart and between them, a spark of raw energy erupted that thundered and crackled crazily, striking the edges of the arena’s internal barrier, causing the shield to be slowly overloaded.
"And that... is to win!" Kaizer roared as he raised his hand upwards, the spark of energy beginning to rapidly coalesce, forming a sphere of power that was expanding crazily in size.
From the size of a marble, to a tennis ball, to a large basin, to the size of a large car and even bigger. More than its size was the pressure it brought as it grew, causing the onlookers to be breathless with fear as they could hardly take any oxygen into their lungs.
Many were directly pressed against their seats as if something heavy was sitting upon them, screaming and crying with fear, their eyes wide with horror.
Up in the commentary booth, Ferron Blaze stood halfway out of his chair, gripping the edge of the desk so hard it cracked beneath his fingers.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"
Tae Ishi was pale, sweat beading on her brow. "Is that even still psychic power?! That’s not a construct... that’s a core! He’s forming a raw core of unstable, multi-type energy! That’s a doomsday bomb!!"
In the instructor booth, Carlisle Freed shoved aside his tea, his pupils dilating. "He’s actually doing it! He’s stopped playing with force vectors and fused them! That’s a psionic-scalar convergence sphere! That thing can’t be blocked by conventional defense, it warps mass on contact!"
Dean Rochester didn’t move as his gaze was locked on Kaizer, expression unreadable.
Madam Sylvia exhaled slowly, clutching her fan against her chest. "This... this isn’t just full power, this is intent. He’s trying to win not through style... but absolute destruction."
Lysandra stood, her usual coy expression replaced with a rare seriousness. "That’s not the same Kaizer we know. That’s the Kaizer who woke up in the void and chose to come back."
She thought of the ferocious expression on Kaizer’s face when he came out of the void, wielding his massive psychic power and ready to kill her for tossing him in like that.
She almost died back then, and if it was not for the duo of the Dean and Rina suppressing the crazed Kaizer, she might not be here today.
That expression Kaizer was wearing right now was the exact same as back then, as if a certain dam within him had been breached.
In the Supreme Force box, President Ethan Voss narrowed his glowing eyes. "That pressure... is bending the arena’s shielding. If he drops that thing without care, the stadium will collapse."
Commander Rae shouted. "We should evacuate the lower tiers!"
But Commander Blaze shook his head. "No time and no point. If this goes wrong, evacuation won’t help, the entire Alpha City will disappear."
In the Heir Pavilion, the second-generation heirs had gone silent.
Rafael’s mouth was dry. "I can’t even see it directly... it feels like it’s devouring light."
Davion stepped back, lips trembling. "He was really hiding this much power all this time...?"
Alexei’s hands were clenched. "I feel like my soul is screaming just looking at it."
Ryu Kurosawa remained seated, but he was gripping the armrest with white knuckles. "He’s stopped being a fighter. That’s a deterrent being formed in human flesh."
And in the audience, chaos erupted.
Some students who could move tried to run, while others cowered. A few even vomited from the pressure, and the rest simply passed out.
One girl in the Silver Division fainted and collapsed into her neighbor’s lap, while multiple instructors in the outer booths activated emergency energy cushions to protect the crowd.
Over in the medical ward, Lucian’s eyes widened as monitors in the background blared warning signals from the stadium’s esper field regulators.
Tessa leapt out of her bed, IVs flying, screaming at the screen. "KAIZER! YOU IDIOT! ARE YOU TRYING TO LEVEL THE PLANET?!"
Roland, bandaged and dazed, let out a wild laugh from the next bed. "That’s not fighting. That’s nuclear war!"
In the Overlord Force box, Maria gripped Julia’s shoulder.
"He’s serious now, I can feel it. He’s really trying to kill her..."
Sophia shook her head. "No. He’s trying to win."
Back in the arena, the sphere was the size of a truck now.
Raw psychic energy spun around it, layered with telekinetic compression, elemental ignition, and the folding of spacetime weave within its core. It pulsed with gravitational ripples that bent even the photons around it.
Kaizer hovered above it all, hair alight, jacket fluttering violently.
"I’m done with hesitation!" He said fiercely, his eyes wide.
Rina finally stopped smiling as she looked upward and stared at the sphere.
Then, she shifted her gaze to her brother and her lips slowly twitched into a savage grin.
And then she began to laugh.
"Hahaha! A spirit bomb, huh? Good taste!"
Her death energy flared violently, forming black rings behind her, each larger than the last, and her aura no longer distorted space, it quite literally erased it.
The arena beneath her feet began to crumble not from force, but from entropy itself.
She raised her hand slowly, a confident smirk on her face. "Okay, Kaizer, let’s see it! Show me what that spirit bomb is capable of! Even if you destroy the city and kill millions, so what?! I will just bring them back!"
"Who gives a fuck about the city?! All those pointless thoughts, hopes, and dreams! All those noisy minds and souls! They can all go to hell!" Kaizer roared as the energy ball above him suddenly exploded twice in size with his rage as he drew upon more psychic energy while also utilizing his explosive emotions as fuel.
Despite this, Rina seemed even more excited as her face flushed. "That’s right! Fuck them and their petty existence! You are the Overlord, the one to stand above all others, why do you constantly bother yourself with what your subjects think?!"
Those in the crowd still lucid enough to hear what was being said were left terrified and speechless.
When Rina first spoke of Kaizer’s mentality, many secretly agreed with her because no matter how strong Kaizer was, he lacked the aura and presence of the ’strongest’. For example, the previous Reaper, many hadn’t even seen him before, but just hearing his name from the older generation, you could feel their fear and apprehension.
Yet when one mentioned ’Overlord’, there was not a hint of fear or apprehension, mostly just curiosity and slight interest in seeing what he would become.
But hearing his words now and seeing the power he was manifesting, whether it was Overlord or Death Goddess, the crowd couldn’t help but feel fear exploding in their hearts.
If this man became the strongest, will the esper world really experience peace?
