Psychic Overlord
Chapter 153: Tousou (The Battle) 17

Chapter 153: Tousou (The Battle) 17

BOOM.

The arena rippled as the starting bell echoed and the battlefield that was cratered and bruised from every match before now pulsed with a new aura.

Death.

Rina didn’t move, her hands at her sides, her eyes locked onto Kaizer. Her death energy, clearly visible at rest, began to shimmer and cause slight distortions in the air, like reality itself was resistant to her presence.

Kaizer exhaled once, then raised his hands.

This time, he wasn’t going to test the waters.

No conservative tactics.

No mercy.

SHRRRRMM—

The world twisted around him.

His telesthesia expanded instantly, the psychic domain flooding the arena like a tidal wave of awareness.

His telekinesis flared to maximum, wrapped tightly around his limbs, forming condensed energy plates on his shoulders, back, and fists like psychic armor.

His elemental control surged as wind circled him, fire laced around his fists, stone formed traction beneath his feet and water ran through his bloodstream to boost conductivity.

Even lightning danced around his figure like a war god reborn.

Then he moved, causing a sonic boom to crack beneath his heel.

In less than a breath, he crossed the distance between himself and Rina as his right hand swung a punch faster than sound, burning with lightning-wrapped kinetic compression, boosted by vector force, and guided by his domain to strike at the exact trajectory of her ribcage.

The left hand followed immediately with a burst of frostfire, a hybrid fusion of elemental polarity meant to slow and destabilize even the most complex of defenses.

Above, a giant telekinetic lance launched from the sky, zeroing in like a meteor.

It was a combined triple-layered killshot that was enough to have vaporized Eleanor, folded Lucian, and blown Roland into atoms.

But Rina?

She didn’t block.

She didn’t dodge.

She simply... declared.

"Die." Her lips parted with a breath, and a wave of translucent death energy pulsed out.

FSSHHHHHH—

Time halted.

Not for Kaizer, but for his attacks.

The punch, the flame, and the lance all froze in mid-air as they rapidly aged then cracked, and finally withered into ash before they even reached her.

They were not destroyed nor were they deflected.

They were killed.

And then she was gone.

Or rather, she had also moved.

Her figure shimmered and flickered across his domain with no sound and no inertia. She almost literally walked through space and stood behind him, eyes cold.

"You always overthink things, Brother."

Before he could spin around, her fingers tapped his back gently.

And for the first time in his life.

Kaizer died.

From the crowd’s perspective, one second he was upright, the next his body collapsed, lifeless, eyes wide with surprise.

There was no outpour of blood, no gaping wound and no fancy superpowered explosion.

Kaizer just... stopped existing as a living thing.

A cry rang out from the Overlord Force as Sophia stood, face white with shock while Julia flinched. Maria covered her mouth in horror whereas Hector and Lisa, watching from the Gold Division stands, yelled in disbelief.

In the instructor booth, Carlisle stood so fast he kicked over his chair.

"WHAT THE FUCK?! SHE KILLED HIM?!!"

Madam Sylvia’s fan dropped again.

Dean Rochester remained seated, eyes glowing faintly. "No... watch."

FWSSHHHH.

Rina raised one finger.

"Undo," she whispered, like she was rewinding fate itself.

Her death energy swirled counterclockwise, forming a strange black-gold spiral that drifted over Kaizer’s corpse. It touched his chest and Kaizer’s heart beat again.

His body jerked upright with a sharp inhale, the glow returning to his eyes.

The crowd screamed.

"SHE BROUGHT HIM BACK?!"

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!"

Rina stood over him, arms folded, as he blinked in stunned confusion.

"Don’t look at me like that, dummy. I killed your life. Then killed your death. Simple."

She smiled.

"I told you. I’ll keep killing you until you stop holding back."

Kaizer stared at her for a long moment.

And for the first time all tournament...

The Overlord was speechless.

Kaizer pushed himself up and dusted his clothes, his face one of resigned acceptance.

"Fine, lets try something new."

Kaizer’s fingers twitched once, then twice.

And then, the world broke.

VRRM!

A subtle quake passed through the arena and one that was not of force, but of structure. The very folds of space twisted as Kaizer’s spacetime manipulation unfolded for the first time at full capacity.

The sky dimmed slightly, the light distorted behind him and shadows were cast in the wrong direction.

His figure bent oddly in perception, like multiple versions of him occupied the same coordinates. Some shifted a few seconds too fast while others were too slow.

Rina narrowed her eyes.

This was no longer elemental, or kinetic, or even domain-based.

Kaizer wasn’t enhancing his body anymore, the fellow was literally changing the rules of reality using psychic power alone!

SHNNK!

Rina ducked as Kaizer teleported—no, skipped—across the river of time, his arm stabbing forward with a time-accelerated blade of condensed wind.

Rina flicked her wrist...

"Die!"

...and the blade withered... but it took longer this time.

Half a second of delay and that half-second mattered because Kaizer had already moved again.

He was behind her one moment, then he appeared to the left, then above her the very same instant.

Kaizer was seemingly everywhere.

She turned, but each movement was met by an afterimage, a time echo of Kaizer that assaulted her with attacks from different points in the timeline, moments that hadn’t yet arrived or had already passed.

One kick landed to her ribs and another punch—projected from two seconds ahead—curved toward her shoulder.

She killed them, each and every one of them, but the effort showed.

The death pulses were becoming more active, the space around her darker with every defense.

Rina frowned slightly. "You’re actually trying."

Kaizer didn’t answer, because this time, he wasn’t thinking.

His domain was fully synced, his body was perfectly enhanced and now, he revealed the final section of the Six Paths of the Mind.

Channeling.

Dark runes carved themselves into the air behind him, requiring no spell, no cast time, nor any chanting as this was just pure psychic communion.

He raised his hand and summoned forth a spectral creature, a massive white lion wreathed in starlight flame.

Its eyes glowed with judgment, actual judgment, not the edgy roleplay of Lucian.

"Summoned soul of Albess... Judge her."

The lion roared and pounced, ignoring physical space entirely as it phased through the spirit dimension and struck from within Rina’s death aura.

She spun and flared her death energy, shouting: "Die!"

The lion called Albess burst into necrotic fog as if it was a mere mirage, but Rina ending up staggering while Kaizer utilized this opening to move.

His eyes glowed blue and silver now as he activated his Telepathy.

A sinister whisper passed through Rina’s mind like a floating butterfly, speaking in a voice not unlike that of her mothers.

"You missed something."

Rina blinked in surprise, looking around her body to see what she missed... and a trap was triggered.

Kaizer had inverted a time loop mid-field, creating a layered attack that triggered five seconds after it passed her. Space cracked around her ankles, freezing her shadow in place so that she couldn’t avoid it.

He surged forward, aiming a palm coated in flame and void directly at her chest, aiming to end it all in one shot.

"DIE—!"

Rina flared again, barely reacting in time.

The death pulse rippled out and killed the time loop, but not before it burned her shoulder with Kaizer’s flaming strike.

For the first time, the crowd saw it.

There was blood!

Although a mere graze, nothing fatal enough to decide the battle, but it was still Rina’s blood!

To this, the arena naturally went insane.

"HE GOT HER!"

"HE ACTUALLY HIT HER!"

"HE’S ALIVE! HE’S FIGHTING DEATH AND LIVING!!"

But Kaizer was far from calm or excited like the ignorant crowd.

Because he knew... it cost everything to land that one strike.

His breath was ragged, the space-time structure around him fracturing like broken glass. His body had taken internal damage from the compression of too many high-level powers at once, a reason why he hadnlt used certain six paths powers much till now.

Just because could use it did not mean he should.

Kaizer staggered while Rina stood across from him, rubbing her burnt shoulder.

Her expression had changed as the confident smile was gone.

"You... actually tagged me."

Kaizer nodded slowly.

Rina gave him a thumbs up. "Nicely done, Kaizer!"

With that same posture, she uttered utterly cruel words. "Now die."

The world didn’t even get to react as one moment Kaizer stood and the next, he ceased.

Not just physically too, as his spacetime stopped, his telepathy was silenced and his summoned spirits flickered out.

Even his own psychic domain froze, its authority wiped clean.

Kaizer’s corpse hit the floor, more twisted than the first time and once again, there were no signs of attack.

Rina took a breath, raised her finger again. "Undo."

And he lived again.

Kaizer choked on his own breath, gasping back into existence as though pulled from a vacuum.

Rina placed a hand on her hip.

"You’re getting warmer~"

The Overlord groaned as he stood, eyes glowing once again.

Because next time...

He will hold nothing back!!
