Chapter 152: Tousou (The Battle) 16
DING!!!
[Match Six Result: Overlord’s Victory!]
The moment the board flashed, the dam burst.
The crowd erupted like a volcano.
The arena thundered with a mixture of disbelief, awe, and crazed cheers that nearly cracked the reinforced arena dome. Students screamed, chairs were thrown, instructors stood upright, and the gambling terminals lit up like a festival of evil.
"HE WON! HE ACTUALLY WON!!"
"HE BEAT THE WAVE!"
"THE OVERLORD’S STILL UNDEFEATED!"
Tae Ishi practically fell out of her chair in the commentary box. "Oh my gods, he did it! He actually did it!! Roland Hayes—the Vibration King—just got suppressed like a playground bully!"
Ferron Blaze slapped the table repeatedly. "That wasn’t just a win, that was total override! Telesthesia is broken! It’s broken!!"
Up in the Heir Pavilion, Davion gripped the railing, jaw trembling in silence.
"He... He was losing," he muttered weakly.
Rafael whistled long and low. "From one knee to domain supremacy. That’s not a comeback, that’s a goddamn statement."
Alexei stared blankly. "I don’t even think he needed clones. He just tested other powers, failed, adapted, and... owned."
Ryu Kurosawa nodded once, adjusting his cuffs. "Kaizer is what happens when genius, grit, as well as potential all align... and we’re not done yet."
Roland, to his credit, didn’t stay down for long.
He let out a dry chuckle as Kaizer lowered his hand and stepped back respectfully.
"Shit, man... Guess I caught a ride on the wrong wave." Roland coughed, standing up, his body battered but his pride intact.
Kaizer didn’t gloat. He only offered a small nod. "You were the toughest so far."
Roland rubbed his sore jaw, then grinned wide. "Don’t lie. You enjoyed that last move, didn’t you?"
Kaizer’s mouth twitched, forming a smile. "Maybe a little."
Both laughed, a short and tired laugh that warriors share after the storm.
And then—
DING!
The betting board flared again, brighter than before.

.........
"OH MY GOD, THEY LOCKED THE BOARD!!" Ferron shouted.
"They’re not even taking odds anymore, Kaizer’s too volatile to bet on!!" Tae cried in shock.
In the instructor booth, Carlisle leaned back with an exhausted expression. "Okay... is this boy even human?"
Dean Rochester sipped calmly from a cup of ginseng tea. "Not in the way you mean."
Lysandra folded her arms. "There’s only one left."
Madam Sylvia leaned forward, eyes narrowing. "Rina Lunin."
The stadium quieted once again as the battlefield was swept clean. Kaizer stood center stage, chest rising and falling slowly, his uniform ragged, eyes glowing faintly.
And then... footsteps.
The final opponent descended the stairs of the competitor platform with graceful indifference, her steps slow and measured.
Rina Lunin.
Her red hair fluttered behind her like a sea of flames, and she wore her favorite attire of a white jacket, a black tight-fitting crop top that struggled to hold in her large bust, and a pair of skin-tight yoga pants that showed her wide hips and even wider glutes.
At her feet were a pair of white sneakers, and overall, she gave the feeling of a young and vibrant beauty that young men around her age dreamed of dating, the class belle.
Her green eyes shimmered with deep emotions, isolating the entire world minus the one who had always been at the highest pedestal in her eyes.
Kaizer.
And the entire arena felt it, the exclusionary aura that these two had, which seemed to make them all distant spectators intruding in their world.
Rina came to stand opposite Kaizer, who was bruised and beaten, panting slightly, with sweat dried on his forehead.
"You look like shit," Rina said simply, smiling slightly.
Kaizer rolled his eyes and smiled. "I just fought like, 5 super tough people. Give me a break."
Rina tilted her head. "Really? I could have cleared them in seconds. You could have cleared them in an instant. Why did you honestly waste so much time?"
Rina’s words caused a slight uproar. The faces of Tyrron, Eleanor, Lucian, Tessa, and Roland warped slightly, becoming slightly ugly and unhappy.
After all, Rina was saying that they were nothing before Kaizer, and he could easily one-shot all of them!
Kaizer was silent. "I had to let them try."
The uproar became even worse, as many were now left speechless by the conversation going on down there. It was one thing for Rina to suggest that you could one-shot them, and another for you to confirm it!
"Haha, look at these losers, they think we’re exaggerating," Rina chuckled as she casually forked her thumb towards the stands, leaving everyone speechless.
Kaizer shook his head. "They don’t know what you know, so it’s natural to make that judgment."
Rina sized Kaizer up and down. "I was with you the entire 8 months of your training. I had to do my own work and then rush to come over to your place every day, but I was there because you needed me."
"I saw everything, the struggle, the pain, and the sweat you put into mastering your abilities and becoming qualified to take the role of strongest."
How Rina folded her arms and her voice became cold. "But I am not satisfied! You suffered so much, paid so much, and have gained power that only the Dean and I know to be unfathomable. Yet you lack the mentality of the Overlord!"
Rina pointed at Kaizer with an accusatory finger. "You are too nice, brother! Despite acting all reserved and cold, you actually care a lot about people! You even considered the feelings of your previous opponents and put up a fight with them to save their pride!"
"Since you won’t say it, I will! You have unlocked all six paths and taken them to the absolute limit of their power! Against Sophia, you showed your Spacetime Manipulation and passed through the void to knock her out!"
Rina sighed. "But you could have literally done the same to all the rest, none of them have the ability to interfere with the void in a way that could stop you. You could have just entered the void and shut down their minds with telepathy if you wanted to make things simple."
Hearing this, the faces of everyone changed. Yes, they had seen Kaizer utilize the void before, and they also heard the reveal of his powerful telepathy, which the remaining few even had to ask him not to use to make things balanced.
Truly, if Kaizer was focused on just winning, he could have reached this point far faster and with less stamina wasted.
So... the fighters before Rina never really had a chance?
"Rina, why are you saying this? The battles are already over, and we are here now," Kaizer said while rubbing his aching temples.
"Because, as I said, you lack the mentality of the Overlord. Have you ever heard of an Overlord with absolute power fighting a bunch of minions?"
Rina pointed at the crowd now. "Don’t feel I am exaggerating! If the Emperor of a Galactic Empire who can orbital strike to glass our planet were to come down and decide to wrestle with the presidents of various countries on this planet, how would you think of such a fellow if you knew the full extent of his power and authority?"
The faces of all those listening warped slightly because they pictured a certain galactic emperor in fiction who could control lightning coming down to do thumb wrestling with a weak human president to decide the fate of the world.
Comical it was to bystanders, a little bit cute even to the people of the human planet, but to the people of the galactic empire, it was a disgrace!
"You have the power of the Overlord, but not the mentality of the Overlord. That’s exactly why Grandpa William changed the rules like this and put me at the end, to make sure your eyes are opened to the truth!" Rina said with a sigh.
Kaizer turned to glance at the Dean and found that he nodded to Rina’s words.
His lips twitched and he glanced at Rina, who was looking at him with disappointment.
"Fine, what exactly do you plan to do then?"
Rina smiled and turned to the Dean. "Grandpa William, if you please."
Dean Rochester nodded and flicked a finger, tossing something into the void. Kaizer raised an eyebrow and placed his hand into the void and took out something familiar.
A vial of golden-colored elixir!
"Restore yourself to your peak, otherwise you won’t be able to match me. While you’ve grown these past 8 months, so have I. On top of that, I know every trick you possess and can say you only have a 1% chance of defeating me as I am now unless you go all out and use your full power from the start."
Rina placed her arms akimbo and smirked. "But as I said, you lack the mentality of an Overlord and won’t use your full strength right away, so I will keep killing you and reviving you until the pain overrides your logic and you go all out!"
Suddenly, the board shifted.
[Final Match: Kaizer Lunin ’The Overlord’ vs. Rina Lunin ’Death Goddess’]
Kaizer glanced at the vial in his hand and looked up to see Rina’s hair starting to billow in the wind as waves of death energy radiated from her, her eyes filled with callousness.
He sighed and drank the liquid, feeling his body being washed from top to bottom as he reached his peak state right away.
Meanwhile, the crowd was absolutely subdued, not just because of what they heard, but because of what this match was about.
This was Kaizer vs. Rina.
The future avatar Terra vs. The current avatar of Morte.
A direct lineage elder young brother vs. His non-blood-related sister.
The Overlord, future strongest esper vs. The Death Goddess, speculated as the prospective strongest esper.
And nobody could predict what would come next.
