Chapter 88: Every Human Has a Capability to Become a Parasite
Sharon’s POV—
The sun has already risen. I am walking for a long time without any clues on how to get out of here.
The degree to which I changed the teleportation array is unknown to me. For now, I don’t have any idea about my location. Just all I know is... I am in a forest with lot of different florae and faunae.
It’s still fascinating to think that these creatures are there in this forest. I cut the bushes which were obstructing my path and went ahead.
A drop of water fell on my head. I looked up and saw the weather had started to go bad. Clusters of dark clouds were all over the sky, covered the sun by acting as the cascade of blankets.
Slowly, more drops began to descend. A celestial scythe, whispered loudly and made its presence known to everyone by illuminating itself after the sun was covered by blankets. An electric, dangerous pattern roared in the sky. An untamed power of nature still evoked its fear in the hearts of people since the ancient times.
In a row, four to five flashes of lightning roared in the sky, causing me to rethink my decisions.
Raining made it difficult for me to navigate. Then again, the frequent flashes of lightning were as dangerous as it could. It’s better if I find some place to take shelter until the sky clears up.
Suddenly, I saw there was a cave, just ahead of me. I should go inside and wait until everything was over.
Third POV—
"That’s not the answer, Uriel. What you are saying is, what most of the people think and believe. This so-called kindness is nothing but an illusion which makes everyone praise me? But... am I the only one who can show this kindness?"
Uriel couldn’t understand what Kelshin was trying to say. It was as if he was trying to prove a point.
Kelshin’s light brown fluttered in the air as he smiled at Uriel. His friend was really naïve. What he said, was not entirely wrong. This type of perspective was shared by everyone.
Kelshin said, "Commoners are like a group of insects crawling all over this empire and still think that they deserve everything. Food, water, air... everything, without paying anything in return. Do you know why they don’t progress? It was because of their mentality."
"Human beings like free stuffs, especially commoners. They want to just lie down and expect everything to happen for their welfare. These commoners don’t want to do any hard work. What do you need in life if you get everything for free without paying anything? No one wants to get up in the morning, dress themselves up, and work hard... for their survival. What if someone makes your survival easy? You will praise that man, won’t you? You will give that man the status next to God, and that’s what I want to achieve."
"Uriel, commoners are like parasites. The more you give, the more they want. They are like bottomless pit which can swallow anything. I am the one who is giving them... these requirements for free. They don’t have to do anything. Just enjoy your life, and take free things... do whatever you want, without any hardships. This is the reason, they like me."
"On the other hand, Sharon tries to uplift their status. She wants to develop their standing in the society and empower them so that, they can be equal with the nobles. Each and every person will be able to stand on their feet and earn their life. They don’t have to depend on anybody... they can live their life according to their choice. Dependency will cease to exist. Well, it’s a very noble idea, and I daresay, she is doing a great thing. And commoners like it very much. But think, will they like it more when I compare it to my generous donations."
"I make their lives easy. And, commoners like me as I make their lives easy. They don’t want development. They want to have a full stomach. Without doing anything, they expect everything. Give them those, and they will put you in their hearts’ altar. That’s what they do. With these, they don’t focus on real issues. These so-called donations divert their thinking process. For a moment of pleasure, they lose something more precious, long-lasting and... finally, their independence."
Uriel dark eyes reflected shock but finally it turned into understanding. Kelshin’s every word depicted truth of the society. Commoners were dependent on Kelshin’s ’kindness.’
"What if these ’free stuffs’ are taken away from them?" asked Uriel.
Kelshin replied, "They would turn against me, branding me as a ’cruel’ and ’bad’ person. That’s what they are. Parasites like them just want to gain as much as they could, without lifting their hands. For these, they would even turn against Sharon. The ’kindness,’ I am showing makes them think that I am a better person than Sharon, who wants to earn their living and be equal with the nobles."
Uriel nodded his head. He looked at the sky and observed it. He asked, "What about the nobles? You said that human beings like free stuffs. Is it true for the nobles as well?"
Kelshin laughed at his question. It seemed as if his attendant was still naive. Well, it didn’t matter. He would be the one to educate him.
"Uriel, you are my secretary, my aide, my knight, and my only friend," said Kelshin.
Uriel’s eyes moistened at Kelshin’s last words.
Kelshin continued, "It’s my duty to make you understand something. Whether commoners or, nobles... each one of them like free things. They think themselves completely entitled. Nobles are the same. They want power, don’t they? And I am giving them for free, right? So, they do like free stuffs as well. It’s the basic nature of humans to expect something from someone for free. Love from parents, love from their lover, respect from their peer, and respect from their juniors. Every human has a capability to become a parasite."
The moon was showing its ethereal beauty. "Kelshin, you don’t believe in equality?"
"No, I don’t," Kelshin sneered.
"The sun shines on everyone, and the moon enriches this earth’s beauty. Without water and air, no one can live. Our blood colour is red. If they don’t discriminate then, why do you? I am not saying that their behaviour is correct. What I am saying is, Kelshin... you need to put your hatred behind. See them equally."
Kelshin snorted at his words. He had an irresistible urge to roll his eyes at Uriel’s words. He asked, "Uriel, we have committed too many unspeakable things together. You were there, standing like a pillar to support my every action. Are you trying to whitewash it now?"
Uriel shook his head in denial. He sighed, "No, Kelshin. That’s what I am trying to say. I am happy for you. You are going to become the new emperor of this empire. Maybe you will even unify the whole world. I believe you are going to be an emperor, who’s much better than Sharon."
Kelshin looked into Uriel’s dark eyes. He clenched his hand and asked, "What are you trying to say?"
"After you become the emperor, you can end this. You don’t have to continue this madness. There will be no need for this any longer. Kelshin, my lord... Your Grace, you can put a stop to all of this. You will get one more shot at life after your revenge."
"LIKE HELL! URIEL! DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND?! WHY STOP AT THIS? WHY STOP AT SOMETHING MEAGRE WHEN I CAN BECOME SOMETHING MORE? SOMETHING EVEN BETTER! YOU HAVEN’T SEEN WHAT I HAVE SEEN, URIEL!!"
Uriel flinched and took a step back. "What have you seen, Kelshin?" asked Uriel. His voice was trembling.
Kelshin gaze was blank. His face had lost all the expressions. He said, "You won’t understand, Uriel. It’s better for you to return back to your room and take some rest."
There was nothing to talk. Everything left said and unsaid at the same time. It was beyond Uriel and he would never understand. Then again, it didn’t matter. Kelshin didn’t want Uriel to understand. All he needed was Uriel’s support and loyalty. He needed his best friend, whom he considered his only family.
Uriel nodded and walked away from Kelshin’s private garden.
He knew it was futile to make Kelshin rethink his decisions.
Kelshin lowered his gaze and sat on a bench. The garden always made him firm at his decisions. He would never forget his desire for revenge. He wanted revenge and he would get it. But that wasn’t the only thing. He wanted something more... something beyond everything.
"I know the truth of this world and it makes me sick," Kelshin smiled eerily, "I want to achieve something more. I want to go beyond. Uriel would be against it but eventually, he would understand. I will make him. His words only fuelled my anger. Sharon Charatshore, I did detest you. I truly detest your existence. And I will make you pay for everything."
