Chapter 89: A Singer inside the Cave’s Abyss

Sharon’s POV—

As I entered into the cave, I was relieved for the time being. The faint light shimmered through its opening and illuminated the cave with its dim presence. But moving further will result in shrouding oneself with darkness. Although, I can’t rest here. Who knows what will come out from the depths of this cave?

Resting here would put me in danger if I am not careful. I took a seat on a large rock and waited for the rain to stop.

I rubbed my arms and looked at the cave’s interior design. The outer design was just a large mouth, mounted on some rocks which acted as steps, giving its entry on a higher level. Thanks to this, if somehow there is a flood, the water can’t enter into this cave easily.

The inner design was as a cave should be. Its jagged walls were glistening with moisture, making it a bit tempting to touch. The stalactites hung from the ceiling like teeth with a clear purpose. What’s their purpose? I don’t know. While stalactites hung, stalagmites rose from the ground, like a warrior whose spirit is still alive.

Then again, both of them were acting as the jaws of this ’mouth.’ The air was a mixture of two contrasting smells. It was both repulsing and refreshing. The smell emitted from the rain’s interaction with the forest, and the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves from the cave... had created a new type of scent. Ok, I think repulsing side has own this game.

How much time have passed since my arrival in this world? Ah, fuck that! I don’t even know where I am for the god’s sake! A world manifested from my novel. That’s what the system had said to me.

But it’s not the truth. It’s a world which is similar to my novel. This results in the rise of another set of questions. Is OG Sharon even real? Why did she even kill me? A shiver ran down my spine when I thought of another possibility. What if she was not the one who killed me?

I looked at my hands. There were some scratches on my hands. Everything that’s happening to me is really perplexing.

Closing my eyes, I reviewed everything that had happened to me.

The system knows the truth but I won’t get anything from it. Till now, all its focus is simply on making me go round and round like a bloody cat.

Why me? Why not anyone?

Why am I the ’villainess?’ How did she even know that she is a character in a book?

No, scratch that. My goal was not to become ’a cream bun.’ Till now, I haven’t met the protagonist. But if I believe system’s words, Kelshin has already made his move against me. Aerila’s ability is ’Full Blood Dance.’ The weird ability to create vines and use them to trap people is not her ability. That’s what it was in the novel. Then again, if I disregard the novel then... either Aerila has a new ability or, Kelshin has given her one.

Yet, another question arises. How can he give someone an ability? He is not a god.

Hah! I am trapped in a pile of questions.

Several months ago, Kaerin asked me about my future plans. With a future as bleak as a coal’s colour, I don’t know what type of future I am trying to achieve.

Everything is distorted by these questions.

Suddenly, I heard a sound. I got up and assumed my fighting stance. As I tried to catch the sound again... I heard nothing as if it was my illusion.

At that moment, I heard it again. I looked into the eternal darkness which looked like an abyss, calling me to fall into it and lose myself in its own hell.

The sound’s amplitude increased a bit. Upon listening it carefully, I found it was as if someone was singing. Is this cave singing? Or, someone is inside this eternal darkness? Honestly, I don’t want any of the two options to be true. Both are equally scary.

The ’singer’s’ voice became clearer and a soft melody entered my ears. It held a soft, soothing and pleasure in its core. A song which can calm you after a long day, full of work and tension.

Yet, for me it was the complete opposite. My soul was quivering with tension. This voice doesn’t belong to a human. No human can sing like this. My eyes narrowed in alert. If my instincts are correct, I am dealing with something that is not a human.

I have two options. Either I can go out into the rain or, I can stay here. These fucking options! What can I even choose?

Third POV—

"Why are we here?" asked Celle.

Celle was brought into the cottage without her consent. She knew her queen was stubborn but she clearly underestimated that stubbornness of her. She had brought her to a shabby cottage. Its fences are broken. The grass fields around it were clearly without any supervision. Who knew what kind of creature hid in those tall grasses?

The stools were also in bad condition, yet they were sitting on it.

Aerila ran her hand across her hair. Her ears were aching by hearing Celle’s continuous complaints.

"Keep quiet! We are waiting for someone!" hissed Aerila.

Celle threw a look of disbelief to Aerila’s face. "Are we really going to do this?! You can’t seriously think that this woman, who can allegedly predict futures can help us? You are a superstitious person, aren’t you?"

Suddenly, the door in front of them opened with a creaking sound and a woman wearing a hood entered their vision. Her hood had multiple stiches on it and was dirty. She was holding a staff in her hands.

"She is angry, you know?" said the woman.

Celle sneered, "Excuse me! I don’t believe someone who is wearing a hood in such a hot day! You are a fraud!"

"You are not a believer, are you?"

The woman took a deep breath and continued, "My name is Sheila. I am an astrologer, and also... a predictor. I can predict some things. They may be right or, maybe they are wrong."

Aerila glared at Celle.

Celle cowered under her gaze and kept her mouth shut.

Aerila said, "Noble one, please don’t be angry. My subject clearly lacks some manners. Forgive her for her transgressions. And please help us."

Sheila nodded and said, "Ah, Celle should doubt me. A person like her is very vigilant."

"That’s correct. Please, Sheila. Help us," said Aerila. It shocked Celle to see her queen to be this humble in front of anyone."

Sheila replied, "If it’s under my power, I will answer you. Tell me, what troubles you?"

Kelshin was reviewing some documents. He slammed his hand on the table. Tearing the documents, he yelled, "Uriel! What the fuck is this?!"

"Your Grace, these are the reports of our latest exports, our territorial businesses, and our other businesses," answered Uriel. It wasn’t surprising that Kelshin would lose his temper. This was something which he had never expected.

"I know that! I fucking know that! Why are these businesses running in loss?! Who the fuck is attacking my businesses?! Uriel, I am losing temper!" Kelshin’s outburst shook the entire room.

"Don’t lose your temper, Kelshin. We will find out the one who is responsible behind all this. We will find it together."

Kelshin closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead. He groaned, "You are right. I was a bit impulsive. So, forgive me."

Uriel smiled, "I will always forgive you, Kelshin. You don’t have to ever try to earn my forgiveness. I know that you will never hurt me."

Kelshin opened his eyes. His eyes were soft. He said, "I know, Uriel. It’s just... I am angry," he sighed, "I underestimated them. Suroralia, my master knows a lot about me. My personal maid, Maria also betrayed me. They struck my businesses and tried to disrupt my plans. Uriel, what about that girl? Pristine, was it? Is she still obsessed with me?"

"I don’t know, Your Grace."

"Call me by my name. Don’t add honorifics when we are alone! Sometimes, you call me by my name. So, keep that up! I want you to have a fix attitude with me. You are my friend. Understood?"

"I understand, Kelshin. It’s just a habit to use honorifics with you."

Kelshin blew a whistle. He nodded, "Yes, that’s it!"

Uriel sighed, "Ok, forget that. Let’s focus on the main problem."

Kelshin smirked at him. His eyes held a cunning edge to it.

"It seems like we have to accelerate our plan. Uriel, are you with me? Will you always stand with me?" Kelshin asked.

"Yes, I will. Kelshin, I have always stood with you in each and every decision of yours. So, never worry. Believe in me."

"I will, Uriel. I always will," Kelshin looked at the torn papers on the floor, "I will attack them with all my might. It would be beyond their comprehension."
