Chapter 78: Happy Cooperation

Third POV—

"What was that?" asked Uriel.

"What was ’what?’ I am afraid that I don’t understand."

Uriel stomped his foot in anger. It was the first time that he had lost his temper because of Kelshin.

Uriel yelled, "I am talking about the things that you have told today!"

Kelshin made a thoughtful face. "About that... huh. I guess, I forgot to tell you before. Sorry, for the surprise."

"What about that evil laughter?"

"Special effects."

Uriel lowered his gaze and bit his lip. Kelshin’s words made him a bit worried. He asked, "Are you going to experiment on humans?" His words contained a plea in it. Never in his life, he thought Kelshin would think of experimenting on humans.

"I am doing it already," Kelshin grabbed Uriel’s hand, "I am doing it for our future. Think about it. Each of us will have a better future. A future in which we all will be equivalent to the gods."

Uriel pulled out his hand in anger. He sneered, "We will be killing a lot of people."

Kelshin looked at his hand and put it on his thigh. He answered, "I am going to create gods. Of course, I will need as many sacrifices as I could."

"What is your plan? Is revenge that important for you? Abandoning your humanity because of this so-called revenge?"

Kelshin slammed his hands on the table. He stood up and grabbed Uriel’s collar. "Can’t you see that I am going to make a better future for you and all of us?!"

Uriel removed Kelshin’s hands from his collar and said, "I am not happy. If this is the future, then I don’t want to be the part of this. I have always supported you in everything. Mindless killings, extortions, kidnappings, rapes... everything. But what you are going to do is genocide. It will destroy this empire."

Laughing at his words, Kelshin snorted, "Are you going to lecture me on humanity? You? Of all the people? The one who is equally responsible in my crimes."

"Yes, I know it very well that I am not a good person... but what you are going to do will swallow this empire."

"YES!! THAT’S WHAT I WANT! THAT’S WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT! I WILL SWALLOW THIS EMPIRE AND LEAD IT TO A NEW ONE! YOU ARE GOING TO SEE A NEW DAWN! ONE... WHERE CHARTSHORES NO LONGER EXIST! THAT’S WHAT I AM GOING TO DO!!"

Uriel’s face turned grim. He knew Kelshin since their childhood. Seeing him like this, his heart ached. It was as if his heartstrings were being cut one by one.

"You still love her." It wasn’t a question. It was a statement. Uriel asked, "Can you bear to hurt her?"

Kelshin’s jaw tightened. "I don’t care. All I have left is revenge... I don’t want you or anyone to come between the way."

Uriel nodded with some difficulty and left the room, leaving Kelshin with his thoughts.

Sunrays entered the room from the window, bathing every corner of the room with its presence. The white tiles glowed, giving a clean and untouched feeling. Three figures were sitting, with their legs touching the floor. Two sat on the same side, whereas the other sat on the opposite side.

Suroralia asked, "What can I do for you? I never expected that you two will come to the tower. What brings you here?"

"Don’t play dumb with me! Tell me where is she?"

"Kaerin! Calm down," Maria chastised Kaerin. They had to be cool and calm in this situation, not unleashing fire from their mouths.

Suroralia expression changed. She asked, "Did something happen to Sharon?" Her tone was full of worry.

Maria sighed in frustration. "You don’t know, do you?" asked Maria.

Suroralia shook her head in denial. She replied, "I don’t know anything. What are you talking about? Is she in trouble?"

Kaerin asked, "Are you in contact with that bastard?"

"No... I am not." Suroralia took a deep breath. She continued, "Kelshin, he said that he no longer needed me... so, I left."

Maria asked, "Why? You could have acted as a spy."

"I know... but it happened very quickly."

Kaerin sneered, "And you never thought of informing us. Are you that big of an idiot?"

Suroralia didn’t get angry. With a calm tone, she said, "We are not friends, are we? As for Sharon’s safety, I can handle it all by myself."

"Can you defeat him?" asked Maria. It was a straightforward question.

"No, I can’t," replied Suroralia.

Kaerin sighed loudly. Defeating that bastard was a very difficult task. In their last life, they tried to defeat him... but he defeated all of them.

"He is strong and their no doubt about it," Maria muttered slowly.

Suroralia asked, "Can you tell me what happened to Sharon?"

Maria and Kaerin looked at each other and then turned towards Suroralia simultaneously. With a heavy tone, Maria told Suroralia everything. After listening to each and every word, Suroralia asked, "So, you doubt me."

Kaerin replied, "Not anymore. Honestly, it doesn’t matter. You don’t know anything... we should go. We are just wasting time here."

"Wait! I can help you. Now, that you two are here. It’s better we attack Kelshin together."

Maria asked, "What do you have in mind?"

Suroralia said, "Pristine contacted to me before."

"What does she have to do with this?"

Suroralia tapped her fingers on the table. She said, "If your information is correct, then she is the one who saw Sharon for the last time, before she disappeared."

"Did you find anything?" asked Leon.

Diana nodded her head and handed him some papers. She said, "I did. After asking the store’s caretaker and the locals, I found this. Apparently, that store is owned by Princess Pristine Rinkshel."

Vederon asked, "Do you think she knows anything?"

"He said that they had a conversation with each other. It wasn’t intense or anything. After that, Her Majesty left the store."

Leon asked, "Did you talk with the princess? Are you suspecting her?"

Shaking her head in denial, Diana replied, "No. She is a ducal princess and I can’t just accuse her, not to talk about interrogation. Also, I don’t think so. With that, I don’t think we should suspect her. Whatever it is, she lacks the wisdom to do something against Her Majesty."

"That’s true. The woman is obsessed with Duke Dimortyil," said Leon.

Vederon’s face turned serious. He asked, "Do you find anything else?"

Diana replied, "No... but it something feels off."

"I know... the day she went, there were very less people. Kristuer Street is not a crowded place but... think about it. On that day, there were very less people. Isn’t it suspicious?" said Leon.

Vederon nodded, "It is suspicious. But there is nothing we can do. We don’t have any evidence to do anything."

"And it’s just a speculation," added Diana.

Duke Glimpiseie took the last sip of tea and put the cup on the table. He wiped his mouth with the handkerchief.

Marquis Waetoul asked, "Why am I here?"

"We have something to discuss. Marquis, we are related in a way," said Glimpiseie, in a joking tone.

Waetoul sneered in disgust. "If that’s what you want to talk about, then I am going."

Glimpiseie laughed at his reaction. "I am sorry. I was just teasing you," his face turned serious, "I am tempted."

"You are ’tempted?’ By what?"

"I am tempted by Kelshin’s offer. Do you believe it is plausible? For us to become like gods?"

Waetoul replied, "I don’t know. But I believe him. Maybe we can become immortal. What do you think?"

"Honestly, I don’t know but he is a crazy one. So, it’s better to support him. Even if, we can’t become immortal... we can have more power."

Both of them were greedy and had a habit of getting things done by any means possible. Sometimes people lose their reasoning because of greed. Greed for power, money, lust, love, and endless pleasure. Waetoul and Glimpiseie were the same.

"He also said many things about that bitch’s family. I never thought that Charatshores were not humans."

"They are elves. We humans should be ruled by humans only. And it’s for the best if we support him. Kelshin supports nobility. He hates commoners. Although, I have to say his image among the commoners is better than Sharon. Fabricating and lying are his speciality."

"Do you think that he is lying to us?" asked Waetoul.

"No, he is not lying to us. We know his true nature. He makes a lunatic sound saner. It is best for us if he becomes the emperor," Glimpiseie sighed, "at that time, we forcefully made Sharon accept the engagement deal. It was a wrong move."

Waetoul said, "It can be rectified. So, forget about it. Think about the future! After Kelshin becomes the emperor, we will be at the top." He raised his hand towards Glimpiseie, which he immediately took and shook it.

"Happy cooperation?" asked Glimpiseie.

Waetoul smirked, "Happy cooperation."
