Chapter 76: Two Stories— 2
Third POV—
"The boy loved the girl very much. He was obsessed with her. But then he found out something that changed love into hatred. A hatred so intense and passionate than love. He wanted revenge from her as well. Then comes the girl, who was became his master... taught him everything. For her desire, she would anything. But one day, it changed the girl... or, the master who promised him his revenge, changed. It was because she fell in love with the girl, he once loved. The boy was angry, I mean... very angry. He was livid that his master loved the girl, he once loved falling into the pit of revenge."
"The master, she was given a choice by him. Either she could continue to love the girl, or she could forget about her desire of obtaining power. Ultimately, she chose power. Her power of hunger was too big to be contained within the boundaries of love. Her teaching made the boy firmer in his attitude... it made him crafty and manipulative, like he was supposed to be. It was his destiny. She brought his real self out to the whole world to see and feel."
Kelshin closed his mouth with a smile. He continued, "You must be wondering about why am I wasting the time with this story? Because it’s based on the real facts."
Uriel was frowning at Kelshin, while the others had an awkward looks on their faces. It was because they were confused whether the story was about him or not. Some believed it was, and the rest didn’t.
Duke Glimpiseie asked, "What is ’teenager?’ I have never heard this word before."
Kelshin’s expression subtly changed at this. He never expected a slipup from his mouth. He replied, "Nothing much concerning, Glimpiseie. You don’t need to concern with these trivial words. I am the storyteller! Did I ask you anything?" Glimpiseie shook his frantically in denial, "then, why are you asking? Keep quiet and listen."
Duke Glimpiseie pursed his mouth shut. He knew better than to make Kelshin angry with his words.
Kelshin said, "Till now... his master is helping him in his revenge. So, did you like the story? See, Glimpiseie... now I am asking you lot to ask ’me’ some questions. But let me warn you beforehand, don’t ask any useless questions."
Everyone was a little tense. They didn’t know what to ask without offending Kelshin. So, they all kept quiet.
"No? No questions?" Kelshin asked in an amused tone.
Uriel said, "I don’t think so."
"Hmm... you are right, Uriel. So, should we move onto the next one?" asked Kelshin.

Everyone has their own motivations and so did Kaerin. Without any motivation, the driving force of a human depletes over the course of time. It was same for Kaerin. But it is dynamic in nature, which means it changes over time. Kaerin had a motive as well... both in past life and in present life. The thing was... both were completely different from each other. Also, motivations give birth to ambitions.
Kaerin looked herself in the mirror and knew she wasn’t the same anymore. Not after what happened in past life. Whether anyone said or not, she knew what she did in her previous life was wrong. Did she regret that? Yes, she did.
Kaerin observed herself with more vigor in her eyes... or, at least she tried. All of them, including her... those were associated with Kelshin had their reason. Each one of them had their own agenda. She could say that none of them actually liked Kelshin. ’Ambition’ was a scary thing and the bigger it was, the more dangerous it was. It could lead you to do questionable things in your life, which she did. In her past, she aligned with Kelshin but now, she aligned... no, loved Sharon. She always thought what would have happened if she had met her first. She was the one who found where she was held captive, but she made that bastard rescue her. She wanted to laugh loudly. Kelshin was the one who was the real owner of the Nightinshade. He must have been livid when Sharon had found out about his secret organization.
Kaerin’s face turned grim at this thought. If she had gone herself, then all this mess would have never happened. But Sharon wasn’t the one who should be blamed... she was the one. She should have seen right through Kelshin, but she couldn’t. Instead, she became an obedient follower of his. How could she not? He promised her to help her rebuild her kingdom, and on top of that he was very powerful, which clearly showed that she should align with him. But she was wrong. She shouldn’t have aligned with him. Her intuition was wrong and everything fell apart. Her ambition, her life, and her soul... nothing remained the same.
After she went back in time, she reached at the exact moment when she was held captive. Kaerin thought she had a very good opportunity to kill the bastard right there. But he wasn’t the one who saved her, it was Sharon. Seeing her face, made her guilty all over again. She hated the fact that she once hurt her and led to her downfall.
But this was Kaerin’s chance to do everything right. She would protect Sharon from Kelshin. So, she acted as if she fell in love with her, at the very first sight. But what she didn’t know that, it would turn into reality. The reason... she didn’t care. Love was an indescribable feeling for her and it was mysterious, at least for her. She loved her. Sharon was like a clean white cloth that she wanted to taint, but without hurting her.
Kaerin’s regret turned into love and did whatever she could to make Sharon reciprocate her feelings. She even gave her the book that she stole from the dungeon’s guards. The book was to be used as a tool to educate Sharon about herself. But... after she fell in love, it changed. She even schemed her way to mark her, becoming her first ever marker. It was dirty move but she didn’t care.
Sharon even protected her from the faction’s words. She never expected her to stand up for her, Kaerin believed she didn’t deserve that. Out of all people, Sharon shouldn’t protect her.
During the festival, they even sang together. Sharon’s voice was as mesmerizing as her face. It just made her fell deeper in love with her.
Then, something unexpected happened. Her feelings were also reciprocated by Sharon. She felt like she was a bird flying in the boundless sky. It was a very great feeling.
Maria. That name aroused disgust from her just by hearing it. Sharon had countless maids in her empire, but she chose Maria as her personal maid.
In her previous life, when Kaerin heard that Maria betrayed Sharon, she wasn’t surprised. Why wouldn’t she betray her false master for her true master? Her true master was the one for whom she did everything. So, she never trusted her in this life, and neither should Sharon. It was as it should be. But she was proved wrong. Maria proved her loyalty by delivering Heriedieck right into Sharon’s feet.
Even Sharon liked her too. So, she accepted it. After what Kaerin did, she wasn’t the one who should stop her. She had no right. If she wanted to have more lovers, then she would not stop Sharon.
But there was something that always made Kaerin dread. What would happen if Sharon finally gets her memories back? When she rescued her, she thought that Sharon did this because she had her memories... so she did that. But it was not the case. She didn’t have her them.
Yet, the question was... would she hate her? Sharon’s reaction was what she cared the most about. Would she be angry that she hid the truth from her? What would happen to their relationship?
"Will she leave me? But she confessed that she loved me, didn’t she?" Kaerin asked herself.
"But will she leave me?"
Kaerin had no answer to that question. She laughed at herself with an indescribable emotion.
"I am a fool! I can’t even say it, can I? Why won’t she hate me? I knew the truth but deliberately hid it for my own selfish interests. All I wanted was to protect her this time, but I couldn’t. I don’t even know where she is! I never once liked him in my entire life! Will you leave me once you know the whole truth? I know what I did was unforgivable! Why did you even like me? Would you like me if you know everything? I am such a coward! I don’t have the strength to tell you the truth. I don’t know if I am doing the right thing by keeping you in the dark. I-I d-don’t know anymore... I don’t k-k-know anything... whatever p-punishment you d-decide... whatever your d-decision is... I will abide..."
Tears were streaming down Kaerin’s face at the end of the sentence.
