Chapter 48: Finally Catching Heriedieck
Chapter 48: Finally Catching Heriedieck
Third POV—
Entering, Maria found that the door led her to passage. With her guard up, she started to go deeper into it.
Walking for almost half an hour, she reached a dead end. If Maria was an ordinary person, she would have walked back, thinking it was dead end. But Maria was a trained assassin. She had faced countless situations like that.
Maria continued walking and went through the dead end as if it didn’t even exist in the first place. A fucking illusion was all it was. She didn’t even bat her eyelashes at the very poor excuse of the illusion.
Crossing the illusion, Maria found her face to face with Heriedieck. He was having a dinner.
Heriedieck grabbed the chicken leg with his right hand. He tore its fried flesh with his teeth and feasted on it. While he chewed, he held a wine glass in his other hand. Just as he was about to drink wine, he saw Maria, who was holding a bloody dagger in his hand. He put the half-torn chicken leg piece back in the plate. He pointed his index finger at Maria and said, "Hmmm... little girl, you are holding a knife which is laced with blood. Not yours, but I believe it’s of my guards," his eyes shone with lust as he ran his gaze across Maria’s body, "I am delighted that such a cute-looking girl has delivered herself right to me."
"You are knocking the wrong door. I, no longer swing that way," Maria scoffed.
Heriedieck smiled widely. He laughed, "It’s even better. I do enjoy having two women together in a bed. You know if you stop looking at me with those bloody murderous eyes, we could have a lot of fun. What do you say?"
"I don’t think you recognize me," Maria lowered her and imitated, "I-I am sorry, Master... I w-will bring a hot tea for you..." Maria imitated the ’maid-character’ which she used back in Heriedieck’s mansion.
Heriedieck’s eyes widened with shock. He threw the wine glass on the floor and got up from his chair. He yelled, "You?! That disgusting bitch?! You fucking infiltrated my mansion. Are you a spy?"
Maria moved her tongue over her inner cheek. She replied, "Hmmm... yes."
"I WILL KILL YOU!! GUARDS! GUARDS!" Heriedieck shouted in anger.
"I don’t think they will be able to answer you anymore. I am pretty sure that my people would have already sent them to their grave. But I can’t do the same to you," said Maria, lazily.
A trace of fear flashed in Heriedieck’s eyes, but it was for a brief moment. He still didn’t take Maria as a serious opponent. Some people never change. They always thought that they were invincible. Last time, he ran away to escape from Sharon. Yet, he still didn’t learn his lesson.
’Enslaving Mark’ was Heriedieck’s ability. With that, he could enslave anyone at his will. A single piece from the target’s body such as hair, nail, sputum, etc. But there was a downside to it. The person on which it was applied should never know anything about the ability. If they gained any sort of knowledge about this, the ability would no longer work on them.
To Heriedieck’s misfortune, Maria knew complete ins and outs of his ability. "If you are thinking that you can use your ability on me, then think again."
Heriedieck’s eyes widened in shock when he heard about this. He spluttered, "H-how do y-you—"
"I know everything about you, bastard. So, it would be better for you if you surrender yourself. Otherwise, you may get hurt," interjected Maria.
Heriedieck’s legs wavered as he tried to maintain his balance.
Maria sighed in frustration. She knew that Heriedieck would never surrender on his own. She started heading towards him. She wanted to get this over with as fast as possible.
Each step Maria took, was like a death sentence for Heriedieck. His legs moved back on his own. ’He needed to escape from here’ and ’She would kill him.’ Those two thoughts repeatedly bombarded his tainted mind.
Just when he lost all his hope, he suddenly remembered he had teleportation scroll. It connected the outside of the hideout to the inside. If he used it, he would be outside the hideout within a second.
Heriedieck immediately pulled the scroll from his pocket and tore it. Like he expected, he was outside the hideout within a second.
A curse escaped Maria’s lips when she saw Heriedieck vanish in front of her eyes. He must have used a teleportation scroll. She immediately turned back and dashed to leave that place. Along the way, she killed whoever that tried to stop her.
Heriedieck, who was standing outside the mansion, paled when he saw Maria coming out of the hideout. With all this strength and stamina, he started running in fear of getting caught by her.
Maria smirked seeing him running desperately to save his life. It gave her a sense of satisfaction. It signified both of their status. One was a hunter and the other, was a prey.
—End of Flashback
Heriedieck was getting tired. His vision was getting blurry. While running, he was panting for oxygen. Suddenly, he stumbled on a rock and fell over. His head got hit hard against the ground.
Maria was slowly walking towards him as if, she was enjoying. It was like she wasn’t in a forest. Instead, it was her house’s lawn. Reaching in front of his face, she kicked his face hard with her leg. Heriedieck cried out in pain.
"Did you enjoy running? Let me tell you something. It’s good to have hope... but harbouring a false hope, is not good. You could have just surrendered and saved us from wasting our precious time."
"W-what do y-you want f-from me? I..."
"Me?" Maria smirked evilly, "I want many things from you. See, you are the key to unlock the very precious treasure of mine," she kicked him again in his face.
Maria crouched down a bit and said, "Shall we? We have to meet a very special person."
