Chapter 47: I Will Spare You... Oh, I Definitely Will

Third POV—

Heriedieck was running through the forest. He was running from someone... a woman, to be specific. It was almost an hour, and he was still running for his dear life. The woman’s eyes were... blazing with fury and hatred when she looked at him. He shivered in fear as he remembered how she entered his hiding place.

Flashback—

Maria was standing outside the count’s hiding place. It was his last sanctuary. The rest of the hideouts were destroyed by her and Her Majesty. After she had left the palace, she recruited a group of people who held the same hatred for Nightinshade like her. She clenched her hand so tightly that her nails dug her skin. Blood dripped from her hands. Yet, she didn’t feel pain. She should have known it was impossible for someone to know where she was held captive, without any prior research. She cursed herself when she remembered how the duke would just change the subject when she asked about the other captives. Was she that blind? Her skin crawled at the very thought of once being in love with that monster... Kelshin.

She turned towards her subordinate and said, "Is this the place where that rat is hiding?"

The subordinate nodded his head and answered, "Yes, Leader."

Maria turned towards her rest of the subordinates. She ran her gaze over all of her subordinates. With a voice full of authority, she ordered, "Kill anyone you deem necessary. If captives are there... then free them. And capture the count... alive. I need him alive. Understood? Nod your head, if you did."

Everyone nodded their heads at her words. With that, Maria took out a magical dagger and slowly headed towards the entry point. The rest of them followed her lead. As she reached the entry point, she saw a guard sleeping. Her face scrunched up in disgust. Without any word, she slashed his throat. His eyes snapped open as he clutched his neck, trying to stop the bleeding. But it was futile. He died within a few seconds. Leaving his dead body in the chair, she entered into the hideout.

Maria was an assassin. A very few people knew about this... and one of them was Kelshin though, he didn’t have all information about her ability. Even Sharon thought that she was an archer. Yes, she could conjure bow and arrows but they are the part of her ability. ’Drawing Blood Art’ was the name of her ability. It was an ability which helped her in killing other people. Her ability could never save other people. A part of her always thought that her ability was cursed... but now, she didn’t think that. If she was going to kill people, she was going to kill only for Sharon. It was no longer her ability. It was Sharon’s. She was the one who held the reins of her.

Maria spotted a few guards who were talking among each other. She conjured a ’Silent-Maker’ arrow. It was an arrow which would divide upon firing, when hit on a target makes them completely silent.

The arrows struck them, making them as good as a mute. Even their painful sounds were soundless. For someone, who didn’t know what happened with them would laugh at their actions. Maria quickly conjured a few more arrows and shot at them.

The arrows directly hit their head, killing them instantly. Maria looked back and made some hand signs which indicated, ’I will go in that direction. You all go in the other one. Kill others without making a noise.’

Signalling them with her hands, Maria took the left direction. Her subordinates followed the orders and took the right path.

Taking a left turn, Maria walked further into the hideout. She found a guard to be just standing outside a room with his back turned towards her. She sneaked upon him, and wrapped her hand around his mouth. The guard tried to scream and remove her hands but before he could do anything, Maria plunged the dagger deep in his throat. His body slumped as he died in an instant.

Maria slowly laid the cold body on the colder floor, without making any noise. Just as she was going to enter the room, a person came out of the room. His eyes widened at the sight of his comrade’s bloody dead body. He flinched in horror as his gaze fell on Maria, who was waiting like a viper to strike its prey.

The man tried to call for help but he found himself unable to utter even a single word. It was because Maria, who had forged herself for situations like that. She gripped the man’s throat and immediately closed the door with a bang.

"Did something happen? Why did you close the door like that? It might break, you know. If it breaks... I will fucking deduct your salary. You hear that?" said a man, who was behind the door.

Maria gripped harder, making it more difficult for the man to breathe. The man tried to push away Maria, but she didn’t bulge a bit. "Say that you sorry. Say... everything is fine. If try to be smart, I will kill you. Understood?" she hissed.

"Y-yes..." chocked out the man.

Maria removed her hands from his throat, allowing the man to breathe properly. The man massaged his throat and panted for breath.

"Oi! What are you doing?" yelled the same muffled voice.

"Say it!!!" hissed Maria.

The man frantically nodded his head. He yelled, "E-everything is fine... Boss. I-I am sorry that I b-banged the door h-hard."

"Good! Now run along. I have some work. Tell the guard to do his properly." The footsteps became distant as he walked away from the door.

The man said, "I-I did whatever y-you said... p-p-please s-spare me..."

Maria smirked, "Yes, you did as I said. I will spare you... oh, I will definitely spare you." The man smiled in relief. Before he could thank her, Maria cut his head off his body. Blood splattered all over clothes. The same was with her hand. Her hand was covered with his blood. She sighed in annoyance. She tore the shirt from the man’s dead body and cleaned her hand with it. She threw it and slowly opened the door and entered it.
